I feel Asriel gasp as we step into the sun. The light warms our face, and I take a deep breath. The air is so… so fresh. I’d forgotten what it’s like, the mere act of just breathing fresh air.
Oh my gosh,
Asriel breathes, as though the peace would shatter at the slightest of sound.
Chara, is this what it’s like all the time on the surface?
I take another deep breath, the scent of flowers lingering even as I exhale. God, I don’t want this moment to end.
Well, not always always. Sometimes it’s hot and miserable. Or cold and miserable. Or rainy and miserable. But other than that, yeah.
Woah.
Yeah.
A moment of silence passes. Then two. We should probably get going now. However, as I start to walk, I can feel Asriel pushing back.
Come on, Asriel, we can’t just stand here forever!
Aww, please? Just one more second?

…Okay, second’s up. Let’s go.
Wha!? Fine, fineeee!
I laugh hysterically as we start the long descent down the mountain.
We’re, uh, gonna be walking for a while, so, do you wanna sing that one song… urgh, what was it called again? Right- 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall!
I mean, I can’t think of a better time for it!
