Chapter 1: The Skirmish

Chapter Text

Milk only mentioned in first chapter. My sincerest, deepest apologies.

I felt my feet bound, rope left red marks on my ankles and dried milk coating every surface. The fresh milk dripped into my eyes, clouding my vision.
A figure approached my helpless form: my captor, Andrew Kreiss. He stared coldly into my eyes. I held his gaze, and eyed his green orbs. ‘You look so weak, it is most amusing. I can almost stand the sight of untying you,’ He scrunched his nose, ‘but perhaps not the smell.’
Annie entered the room carrying yet another bucket of milk. Reluctantly, she placed it before the Gravekeeper, ‘Mr. Kreiss, I don’t think this should continue. It’s been so long, when did he last see the sun? He is terribly pale.’
‘Never fear, Miss. He has received the highest possible care these past weeks.’
‘His face is the same colour as my clothes, is it not? This much time upside down is really affecting him.’
Irritated by her meddling, Andrew scoffed, ‘Just bring me that contraption, and be quick about it.’
Slowly, Annie wheels a large device into the greenhouse, and presented it to Andrew with shaking hands.
For the first time in what seemed like forever, I was released from the ceiling. A nervous Toy Merchant fussed over me until she was pulled away by Kreiss. Grinning, he began untying me, allowing me to fall from the ceiling. I was lifted into the Wringer, too weak to resist. My hands and feet were restrained yet again with handcuffs. I could hear it groaning and felt myself being slowly twisted and stretched simultaneously. I winced in pain, feeling my limbs being pulled apart. It felt as though I were a tea towel being wrung, then hung to dry. Suddenly, all went black.
