Chapter Text
The door was locked. Of course it was. Sunoo wanted out, anyone would want out in a situation like this. Being locked in a room isn’t as fun or exciting as it may sound… or romantic.
“We’re really stuck in here then..” Sunghoon states. It’s a fact, he’s not asking.
Sunoo looks at the dark haired boy, sitting on the floor that definitely looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in forever. How he was so calm, he couldn’t understand but then again, that was just Sunghoon. Calm and collected.
“Mm. The doors definitely locked.” He blushes because he doesn’t know what else to say except the obvious.
Sunoo stands there, awkwardly shuffling in front of the door. He doesn’t want to sit on the floor and he doesn’t know what else to do with himself.
He thinks about how all this happened, Sunoo was walking by, minding his business which he should have kept doing, but the shuffling behind a closed door had intrigued him more; curious about what it could have been, he opened the door to the janitors closet and was shocked yet unsurprised finding Sunghoon lipped locked with some girl. Who, when she saw the door open, ran out embarrassed pushing him in and the door shut. He didn’t blame her but he kind of hated her for it.
“So… you going to sit or just stand there?” Sunghoon looks up at him expressionless, and Sunoo feels beyond embarrassed at this point. How does he tell him he doesn’t want to sit because the floor is probably disgusting. He’ll just sound stuck up and obnoxious. It’s not like he particularly cares about what Sunghoon thinks of him, he just doesn’t want to be perceived that way, which is different… right?
Finally he says, “no, I’ll sit…” as he lowers himself, pulling his knees up to his chest, wrapping his arms around them in comfort, his back against the door.
The room is small and it’s packed with cleaning supplies, why’d Sunghoon would want to make out in such a place was beyond him but he didn’t really care. Sunghoon was cross legged and there wasn’t much room for Sunoo to do the same but thankfully he the was smaller of the two so he didn’t feel as cramped.
Sunoo felt awkward and he couldn’t tell what Sunghoon was feeling. He could see why people called him the “ice prince”, hard to believe he was making out with some girl a few minutes ago. Which brings him to a question he’s been holding in,
“Who was that? The girl I mean, your girlfriend?” He immediately regretted asking, meeting an indifferent gaze.
“Some girl. None of your business really.” Sunghoon turns his head away lazily, looking at the ceiling.
“Right…” Sunoo say quietly. He hated this. He didn’t dislike Sunghoon but he didn’t hate him either, they were just so different. Sunghoon was indifferent, cold and serious. Girls fawned at him and all the guys befriended him. Sunoo however, was “quirky” as his friends told him many times. He was awkward and smiled a lot to mask it, which was proving to be harder in his current predicament.
Of course he and Sunghoon have spoken before, once, even if it was one sided and all Sunoo said was “excuse me” to pass by. It counts. At least that’s what Sunoo likes telling himself to make it feel like they’re closer.
Sunoo picks at a lose string on his sweater, he doesn’t want to sit in silence, “do you think we’ll get out of here anytime soon?”
Hopeful of a conversation, he waits for the others response only for disappointment.
“Hopefully.” Indifference and not a glance.
Sunoo really hated this. He needed out now. He felt like he was being crushed and not because the room was small but because he was stuck with someone so unconcerned about everything going on. Did he not care about their situation? When they’d get out? What they’d do? Why they haven’t bothered banging on the door? Why haven’t they banged on the door?
He springs up, smile on his face. He looks down at Sunghoon, who looks at him with an eyebrow raised but still looking as disinterested. “What if we bang on the door, obviously someone will hear us right? I mean, I heard you when you and that girl were- let’s bang on the door,” he quickly turns and raises his hand but before he can he’s stopped.
A hand is grabbing his wrist, when did Sunghoon stand in the second he turned he doesn't know but he can’t think. He feels Sunghoon behind him, close enough that he can feel the warmth radiating off of him. His mind is blank and he doesn’t know what to do and Sunghoon still hasn’t let him go.
“Let’s not, it’s not worth it. Don’t you know what time it is?” Sunghoon lets his wrist go, taking a step back allowing Sunoo to turn around. Still too close for comfort but suddenly it doesn’t matter because he’s realized how dumb he is -- he found Sunghoon and the girl after classes. They’ve been done for awhile now, but the janitor has to be here right? The school is massive though…
“I- right.” He mumbles. Sunghoon going back to his seated position, Sunoo following right after. They couldn’t be stuck here long, their parents would notice. Wait, but Sunoo had a study session today that was going to run late and they knew that.
“Your parents will notice you’re gone!” Hope relevant in his voice once again.
“I live alone.” And just as fast, he deflates. Life hates him.
“Right.” He nods solemnly. Of course Park Sunghoon lives alone. Why wouldn’t he.
When he looks up, he’s caught off guard. Sunghoon is looking right at him, eye contact and everything. An unreadable expression on his face and Sunoo goes red, he really wished this was on of those rooms where the light switch was outside the room and it was pitch black.
“Do you dislike me that much?” The question causes Sunoo to go off the rails. What was that question? That was random? He hasn’t done anything? He’s just trying to get out of here? What is his problem?
“No, I don’t. I just want to get out of here and it doesn’t really have anything to do with you. I mean, it does a little since you’re stuck in here too but it’s not because I hate you or don’t like being stuck with you or anything…” and he’s lost it. He’s blushing. A mess and doesn’t know what he’s even saying. It’s all so random and embarrassing.
He can hardly look at Sunghoon and when he does he stops breathing. He’s smiling at him. Sunghoon is smiling and it’s… fond? Sunoo is a tomato at this point, yeah Sunghoon is attractive, everyone knows that but when he smiles. He’s breathtaking and Sunoo doesn’t know what to do, with himself, his feelings and everything else.
Sunghoon doesn’t say anything and looks down at his hands that he’s twiddling. He’s obviously thinking about something but he doesn’t go to talk again and Sunoo would be lying if he said he wasn’t offended. Sunghoon left him flustered and messy and just moved on.
