"Wanna go on a date since it's so nice out?"
"Sure."
Umika had expected a nice day out when Tsukasa had asked her to go out. It had started off that way. The two of them had wandered around the own, stopping in some different stores and visiting some attractions that had popped up for the weekend. It was very fun.
The two of them were constantly smiling and having fun. It was a nice day. It didn't seem like anything could ruin it. And then they ran into two people. Two people who Umika immediately felt sick just seeing.
"If it isn't you." One of the girls said, giving Umika a disgusted look.
Umika tried to not react, but she took a step back. Tsukasa moved slightly in front of her.
"You know these two?" She asked her.
"They were... classmates." Umika said quietly.
"You don't know about him, do you?" The other girl taunted.
Umika felt her heart rate increase at the pronoun used. She had been around supportive people for so long she forgot what it was like to be treated this way. At least Tsukasa was aware that she was trans. That would've made this situation even worse had she not known already.
"If you're referring to her gender identity, then yes, I do know and I am not in the mood for your childish behavior." Tsukasa shot back, glaring at the two perpetrators.
"Impressive you found someone who believes your delusion."
"Leave us alone." Tsukasa said firmly.
"What are you gonna do about it? We have the right to say what we want about him."
"Come on, Umika. Let's get out of here." Tsukasa grabbed her hand and tugged her away.
They stopped quite a distance away. Thankfully, the two girls didn't follow them.
Umika sank into a seat nearby. She took in a few deep breaths. It had been so long since she dealt with this. She forgot how horrible it always felt.
"You okay?" Tsukasa placed a hand on her shoulder.
"I... don't know..." Umika said quietly. "I wanna go home..."
"We can go back. Come on." Tsukasa held a hand out to her.
Umika took her hands and they took a slow walk back. They stayed silent for the most part. Umika wasn't up for more talking after that.
"I would've loved to punch them." Tsukasa said. "But then I'd get in trouble. They're lucky."
Umika nodded along, but didn't say anything in reply. Tsukasa squeezed her hand.
"You gonna be okay? Is there anything I can do to help you?" Tsukasa asked. She really didn't like seeing Umika like this.
"I don't know..."
They ended up at Tsukasa's apartment. The went in. Umika sat on the couch and silently stared at the wall. Tsukasa grabbed some drinks and placed them on the coffee table. She sat down and wrapped an arm around Umika. Umika leaned against her.
"It's been a while since I've run into anyone like that..." Umika said.
"Well, that's good that this isn't too common. Don't worry. I'm sure you won't run into them for a while again. Okay?" Tsukasa kissed her on the head. "And if they do anything again, let me know and I'll figure out something to get them to leave you alone forever."
"Thank you... sorry I couldn't stand up for myself..."
"You have me to do that for you. It's okay. I'm not gonna let someone harass my girlfriend and get away with it."
