She watches him.
She watches him care for the (now former) knight who hurt her. (The one she nearly killed.)
She watches him with his new partner, focused on his real passion of science. (There's a job opening for a lab assistant, but she could only ever be a villain’s sidekick.)
She watches him build a new life, with love and friendship and fulfillment and sunshine and absolutely nothing monstrous. (There's no place for her there.)
She watches him, from the shadows, careful to always wear a new face.
But sometimes, she thinks he looks back.
And watches her too.
