Work Text:
Fina had just finished drying and putting away the dinner dishes. Gaspar had left a few minutes ago, leaving her alone in the De la Reina's kitchen.
She left the cloth she had used on the counter and closed her eyes for a moment, letting out a long sigh. She needed to be clearer with the tavern keeper; this fake relationship had to end tomorrow without fail. She didn't want to hurt him more than she was going to already; it was the right thing to do.
She heard the door open and turned to face the new person who had entered the kitchen, already preparing an excuse on the tip of her tongue for being there so late. However, she didn't expect to find Marta there, looking surprised to see her.
- Hello - the blonde said simply, pausing against the doorframe.
- Hello - Fina said, leaning against the sink and smiling at her.
Marta blushed, but looked away before speaking, circling the table and putting some distance between them. Fina watched her closely, tilting her head slightly as she observed her.
- I didn't know you were still here.
- Did you know I was here? - Fina asked, looking closely at the other woman. From the posture of her shoulders and her tight lips, Fina could tell she was upset.
- Yes - Marta said, her eyes angry - I came down earlier, but you were busy with Gaspar. - Marta said disdainfully. Before Fina could say anything, Marta rubbed her face and sighed - I saw you two hugging here, so I left. I don't know why I'm upset when I know you don't feel anything for him, but I can't stand seeing him so close to you.
Marta had solved the mystery on her own, and Fina understood. Marta was jealous. The blonde had seen them hugging and had forgotten the words they had exchanged in the office. Fina couldn't blame Marta; she knew she had to be understanding with the woman and owed her support and understanding. So Fina gave her a half-smile, hoping it would be understanding and reassuring for the other woman.
- Come here - she asked, extending both hands towards her and calling her to come closer. She hoped that with this gesture, Marta would understand what Fina wanted to tell her.
Marta obeyed, circling the table and approaching Fina, who was still against the kitchen sink. She approached, but not all the way, leaving a step between them, a minimal distance of safety and decorum in case someone entered who might misinterpret the situation.
But Fina knew better.
- It's late… - Fina said - the doors are closed, and we're alone here. No one will interrupt us. - her voice low and calm as she took Marta's hands and intertwined their fingers. Fina lingered looking at their hands together, while their fingers caressed each other in a slow and affectionate dance - I appreciate you telling me, I want you to trust me. You know nothing will happen with him.
- I know, and I trust you, trust your word - Marta said as she moved closer to Fina's warmth.
- Come here - the brunette said as she hugged her.
They both sighed in satisfaction. The moment could be eternal; they were in no hurry. Fina stroked Marta's back, a slow caress to calm the fears and insecurities of the other woman. Marta returned the gesture, light and now calm. It was amazing how Fina with her mere presence calmed her insecurities and made her feel loved as she had never felt before. She felt complete when they were alone, whether in the store or at that very moment.
Marta separated first and stared into Fina's eyes. Fina got lost in Marta's blue eyes, they were the most beautiful eyes in the world.
They approached slowly to share a light and loving kiss. Just a brush of lips. At first, they exchanged small, short kisses, as light as a feather, then as they gained confidence in each other, they became slightly longer. They were learning to kiss, and that meant knowing what they liked, what made them sigh, and what gave the other goosebumps. It was a sweet learning process in which both were willing to make an effort to enjoy it and make the other enjoy it to the fullest.
While they kissed, Fina noticed the taste of liquor on Marta's mouth; perhaps she had taken a glass of cognac or maybe whisky before coming down to the kitchen again, maybe seeking a little liquid courage.
Marta separated from her with a breathless breath, resting her forehead against Fina's, enjoying the tranquility of the moment.
- It's very late, I have to go upstairs to finish packing for Madrid - Marta said, pulling away just enough to look into Fina's eyes. Marta realized that Fina's lips were swollen from their kisses, she really had no idea what time it was, she had completely lost track of time in her home's kitchen.
- I should go too; tomorrow I have to open the store - Fina stroked Marta's arms and placed her hands on the blonde's shoulders, while Marta's hands rested on the brunette's waist.
- Before I leave, I'll stop by the office, and we'll talk.
- Okay. - Fina sealed the sentence by leaning in and kissing Marta again. Starting another round of soft kisses that left them both with shaky and unstable legs.
With firm legs, swollen lips, and hearts overflowing with love, they said goodbye.
- Goodnight, Fina.
- Goodnight, Marta.
