Work Text:

“Actually… I had a dream today. And you were in it.”

Kirio lifted his sight from the cup of matcha warming his palms, and gave Iruma, who was facing him across the cafe table, a curious look.

“...I was in it?”

“Yeah,” Iruma’s eyes darted away for a few moments, as he hesitated to continue. But then he took a small breath and went on, “It was… strange. As if I was still a teenager, and my parents sold my soul to a demon, who, for some reason, looked a lot like my boss. And we went to hell.”

“My,” Kirio chuckled, “that’s already quite a tale. And then?”

“And then – get this – he made me his grandson and sent me to the demon school. And I had to pretend to be one of the demons, so they wouldn't eat me. And then I met a bunch of other people from real life, but they were all demons studying at that school. And then I met you too. You were so nice to me!”

For some reason, right after he said that, Iruma stopped. Kirio noticed brief shadow in his expression… then, suddenly, his partner's cheeks flushed bright red.

“...And then it turned out that you were plotting to cause a huge explosion and murder everyone in the school. Only so that you could satisfy your… love for despaired faces.”

There was a short pause between them. Kirio looked at Iruma with an empty expression, as Iruma somehow turned even smaller than he already was, ashamed. Then – a burst of chuckling.

“My goodness!” Kirio portrayed shock, trying to hold back laughter. Iruma turned even redder, shrinking and averting his eyes. Adorable. “That dream me’s a horrible person. Moreover, that plan sounds like an unnecessarily complicated way to get what I want. There are better and less messy ways to satisfy my cravings, ya know. ”

Then, his lips stretched in a smile.

“But surely ya were able to save the day, Iruma?”

Iruma's eyes went wide.

“Eh?! I mean, yes, but how did you know that I did it?..”

“Just a hunch.” Kirio’s gaze turned soft. “Ya just seem like the type. And, if I was evil, and there was a hero to stop me, I wouldn't want anyone else but you.”

Iruma's shoulders relaxed; his panic became a warm smile, and the blush, though still there turned from bright red into gentle pink.

“Yeah, I managed to save the day… And then you were caught and had to go to jail.”

“Fair enough.”

“And despite what you did, I still kept good memories of you. And then we didn’t see each other for a very long time. But then we met again, and it turned out that you found out I was human somehow. And then you told me that… you wanted to eat me alive…”

“Yeah, that sounds like me.”

“Excuse me?!”

Iruma’s eyes widened in surprise as he stared at Kirio, who looked like the most innocent angel.

“You are just joking, right?”

“I would totally gobble ya up,” Kirio dared to confirm, smiling.

“...But, like, metaphorically, right?” Iruma eyed him, suspicious. “Not actually physically consume me and stuff?..”

“Hmmm,” Kirio furrowed his brows, pretending to be deep in thought, “I might. Just a little bit though. Just a small bite. Wouldn’t want ya to be gone from my life, after all. It’s fine if it’s just a bite, isn’t it?”

Iruma stared at him for a moment, not saying a word. And then, much like Kirio a bit earlier, began giggling.

“Sure. If it’s a little bit, then that’s alright,” he responded.

“It’s a date, then.” Kirio leaned over the table stretching out his finger and trying to reach for the tip of Iruma’s nose, to boop it. Iruma was just so cute, and whenever he was that cute, Kirio just couldn't resist the temptation. Iruma induldged him, of course.

“Ow!”

Except, apparently, today.

Kirio jerked his hand away as he felt a sudden sting of a bite. Encircling his finger was a red mark resembling a strange kind of ring.

“Just letting you know that I will be biting back.” It was Iruma this time giving Kirio an innocent smile. Ah, they were both such sweet angels, weren't they?..

Kirio’s lips stretched in a devilish smirk, as he felt excitement build up in him.

“That’s perfect. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
