A Stranger Flower Than I Have Ever Known (the most lovely petals)

Summary:

Sucrose had always held her fellow alchemist in the highest regard, and she respected him immensely. She idolized "Mister" Albedo, and... yeah, maybe she had a crush on him. Just a small one. Maybe...

But what neither of them ever expected was for the Chief Alchemist to fall in love with his awkward assistant.

Notes:

Felt like making another series, so here we are! It's a cute one too, I had to take a break from all the angsty stuff. Concrit and comments appreciated as always ★

(bit of advice: don't wear jeans over barely-scabbed cuts. learned that the hard way.)

Chapter Text

The sky over Mondstadt was peachy gold as the sun began its descent. Sucrose liked to get her errands done around this time, while most people were eating dinner and the streets were mostly clear. Sunset had the perfect temperature as well, warm but with a soft bite in the wind that nipped at the alchemist's nose and preluded the chill of the night.

She made her way down the street, a crumpled paper clutched in her hands. Mister Albedo had sent her to the city to locate the ingredients for the well-worn recipe in her gloved hands. Timaeus spotted her and waved, smiling at the familiar face.

"Good evening, Miss Sucrose!" The green-haired girl smiled shyly. "H-hello, Timaeus," she replied, holding out the recipe. "I need these ingredients, enough for ten batches." The man smiled and took the paper from her, not at all offended by her awkward mannerisms. He had grown quite fond of the fluffy-haired alchemist, and knew that her seemingly blunt behavior just stemmed from shyness and a lack of self-confidence.

He scanned over the paper briefly, then handed it back to Sucrose. It was a recipe for Warming Bottles, one that Timaeus was quite familiar with by now, and he turned to the shelf of ingredients behind him to find what Sucrose needed. The girl stood by patiently, content with the wind fluttering her hair.

"Here you are, Miss Sucrose," Timaeus announced, handing her a padded satchel with the bottles and ingredients packed safely inside. "There's no need for payment," the man said as Sucrose reached for her coinpurse. She opened her mouth to protest, but Timaeus cut her off gently. "Consider it a returned favor for your assistance in gathering all those scattered dandelion seeds the other day. Now we're even."

Sucrose gave her fellow alchemist a shy smile and nodded, then turned and began the walk back to Dragonspine.
