Work Text:
It was a hot day at Zeta Point, though much too warm for playtime outside. Helga decided to let the two child inhabitants of the island play inside. And play inside they did. Specifically-
“Woohoo!” Laura cheered, sliding around the slick metal floor on a skateboard. She stopped to do a kick flip, earning a reaction from Rod.
“Good going! Try hitting a-‘
“LAURA.” Said the serious, cold, unmistakable voice of Seth. He held some bright pink and red skateboarding equipment. “Come back here this instant.”
“Uh oh!” Laura yelped, still riding around.
Rod, however, shouted, “Run- err, slide for your life!”
And she did, albeit in random directions. The adult threw the equipment aside and ran after her with a frightening speed. Before long, she had been scooped up and held like a duffle bag. Rod cowered in fear once the adult slowly turned to stare at him.
“You’re involved too.”
Seth simply walked back to him despite him backing off in fear and set Laura down, letting out a deep sigh.
“You two.” He set a hand on both their shoulders, and his tone notably softened. “If you’re going to play, at least do it properly. Also, Helga could’ve caught you at any moment…”
The boy replied, “We’re sorry, Seth.” Both him and his sister bowed as an apology, but the adult didn’t seem to care.
“No worries. But I could take you to a proper skate park instead.”
“That’d be way cool, Seth!” Said the little girl.
“With the proper equipment.” He smiled at the kids and started to walk away. “I’m going to notify your grandfather about it. Behave while I’m gone, alright?”
The siblings replied in unison, “Alright!”
