Chapter Text

“Push!”
With one last effort, Dipper and Wendy put the body of the anomaly. A beast made of many ones. Nothing of it screamed natural. It was so badly put together.
“This thing is horrendous”
“A chimera. It’s made of alchemy. At least we found the body before anyone else. But it can’t be the only one…”
“Yeah… I remember. There is another one. With wings!”
They covered the chimera sitting on the back of Wendy’s truck. The awkward silence appeared once again. This time they didn’t try to kill it. Let it be, let it drag them to doom.

The rest stop. A good needed piss was welcome. Dipper went and left first. While in the store, old and preserved, he fell back to the 2000s. He let the impulse move him to the music gigs, maybe something, anything to kill it. He saw only another person. A big guy losing his mind looking for something. Dipper gave him a silence good luck and started to look around too.
“Dipper, something interesting?”
He was about to open his mouth when he heard a gasp behind him.
“No way, no way…”
“Love god?”
They couldn’t react fast enough. Both were hit by love. Before they knew it he was gone.
“Wait…”
The realization hit them. The panic and anger boiled in Wendy.
“Wendy… let’s go back. Let him go”
“But… Dipper! He made us…”
Dipper looked defeated.
“If we have to track him down, we can always do that. But let’s go. No need. There is an anti-potion back at home”
She was about to ask… but stopped herself. She guessed it wasn’t the first time they encountered him.
“Ok…”
“…Ok”
He left and she was about to leave too when she stopped. Dipper saw her buy something quickly.

They were back on the road. The silence was starting once again until it was overwhelmed by BABBA. It wasn’t after Disco Girl was playing that he started to sing.
“Diiiissscooo”
“Giiiirrrll”
The terrible singing and laughter won. The album was at its end. Wendy didn’t want to give the silence a chance, so she was reaching to repeat it.
“No, It’s ok,” said Dipper stopping her. She nodded. “I… I am still the same”
She was puzzled for a second. Then she started to let out a giggle, she got it. He took it the wrong way, his hands went to his face.
“Aarrgg!”
“Dipper…”
“Uhmmm, arrrgh!”
“Dipper!”
He uncovered his face. It’s been a while since she saw him like that. The last time was… oh.
“Wendy… I am sorry. I haven’t changed one bit… I am sorry”
“… Don’t be. You… it’s not your fault.”
“Still. I lied. All this time, every time”
“I… did too. Dipper… I haven’t been honest either”
She only could look at him through the edge of her view. She was driving, and honestly, she should have pulled over. Too much of her attention was on her dork.
“I… you… since when?”
“A couple of months. Sorry… I was scared you had moved on… I feel so dumb”
“…I get it”
The silence was back again, but one more friendly, comfy. Dipper made his move. BABBA at low volumne. Made their company a one-needed talk.
