They hadn’t done this often and Buck was already finding it difficult to sleep without Tommy’s comforting weight at his back. Everything about the older man was soothing- his weight, how he was just that little bit bigger than Buck, his voice, his kindness, the way he said Evan, and especially how he made Buck feel safe without even trying. They’d been together for almost a month and Tommy had let Buck set the pace. Well, until Buck indicated he wanted more, then Tommy took over when Buck faltered. It was the gentlest a partner had ever been with him and Buck was still a little taken aback by the soft treatment.
Not that Buck was just leeching affection. This might be his first relationship with a man, but Buck was doing a good job based on how Tommy reacted to him.
Buck was just considering turning over in Tommy’s arms for some lazy morning kisses when he caught the sound of his door unlocking. Tommy went stiff at his back, all the confirmation Buck needed that he was awake. Buck squeezed Tommy’s hand where it rested on his stomach, trying to convey that they waited just a moment. Buck barely concealed his snort when moments later he heard the familiar click of Christopher’s crutches. Tommy deflated a little and cuddled in closer to Buck’s back, as Chris’ quiet giggles and Eddie’s attempts to hush him floated up the loft. Tommy shifted a little and nuzzled at Buck’s neck, his head a warm weight on Buck’s cheek. Buck sighed softly and closed his eyes. Eddie would make himself known when he was ready and while Buck wasn’t an exhibitionist, he trusted Tommy to not push too far. Buck was going to enjoy his morning as much as possible, meddling best friends be damned.
There was a click, then the quiet sounds of his PlayStation starting to float up the stairs. Buck pushed back a little more against Tommy and waited. Eddie had been to his place enough times that he avoided all the little creaks on his stairs. Buck heard the sharp gasp and lazily opened his eyes to see Eddie at the top of the stairs, eyes wide and mouth gaping. Buck briefly considered asking Eddie to snap a pic of them for him for later. He could only imagine how provocative they looked, with just the top sheet bunched at their waists, comforter on the floor. Tommy’s leg was threaded between Buck’s and their hands were visible on Buck’s stomach. Tommy paused his kiss and quirked an eyebrow at Eddie.
“Right. I probably should have called. I just thought- Christopher misses you and. Oh god. Right. I’ll get Chris and head out,” Eddie said. He almost tripped over his feet as he tried to turn and retreat down the stairs.
“What, so first you ruined my chances for morning sex and now you’re going to take away Christopher time? Not cool man. Look, go make us coffee and we’ll be down in a few minutes,” Buck said. Eddie’s cheeks were bright red and Buck watched him open and close his mouth a few times. Then he nodded, turned, and almost ran down the stairs.
“Morning sex? And here I thought we weren’t there yet.” Tommy’s breath brushed along his neck and was punctuated by slightly whispery kisses.
“Not quite, sure. But it sounded better that morning make out. Besides, he doesn’t know that. Come on, let’s go terrorize my best friend,” Buck said as he turned his head to catch Tommy’s mouth in a soft, chaste kiss. Then he grumbled through the process of getting out of bed and leaving Tommy’s warmth. Tommy just laughed and lightly bumped Buck’s hip as they walked to the bathroom. Buck could barely contain his laughter as they brushed their teeth. Tommy popped into the shower and after a lingering look, Buck left the bathroom. Based on the small crash, Buck was pretty sure Eddie had heard Tommy’s command to behave himself. Buck pulled on his joggers and grabbed Tommy’s sweatshirt. His hand briefly brushed over Tommy’s name after he pulled it on. Pleased with himself, Buck thumped down the stairs.
“Well if it isn’t my best friend! Thanks for having your dad chauffeur you here,” Buck said and he threw a wink at Christopher. The teenager lasted all of two seconds before he fell back on the couch with laughter. Buck detoured over for a high five, then wandered over to his kitchen. Eddie’s back was firmly turned towards him, three coffee cups beside him, as he waited for the coffee maker to finish.
“I didn’t mean to interrupt anything. Honestly, we can go,” Eddie offered quietly. Buck snorted and stepped forward so he could clap his best friend on the shoulder.
“Don’t be ridiculous. Me getting a boyfriend doesn’t mean we have to stop hanging out. That hasn’t stopped us before and it shouldn’t now, especially since you two are friends,” Buck said with a roll of his eyes. Eddie’s shoulder slumped a little under Buck’s hand.
“So, you still trust me?” Eddie said, voice quiet and almost broken. Buck jerked on the other man’s shoulder to make him turn around.
“What are you talking about? Of course, I do. Damn Eds, I don’t know if there’s someone I trust more,” Buck said, confused. Eddie swallowed and nodded slowly.
“I know this isn’t about me. God, I swear I do. Just-“
“Eddie I’ve known I’m bi for like a month. It’s not that I don’t trust you, it’s all so new. I barely know which way is up right now,” Buck explained softly.
“He’s treating you right?” Eddie said and Buck beamed at his best friend.
“I can assure you, he’s a perfect gentleman. I’ve never felt like this in a relationship before, Eddie,” Buck said, a touch of awe in his voice. Eddie nodded then and offered his friend a slight smile.
“Well, if that changes, I’m more than happy to remind him I know Muay Thai too,” Eddie said. Buck rolled his eyes and snorted. He stepped back from Eddie and heard the creak of Tommy on his stairs. They fell into companionable silence as Eddie turned to pour their coffees.
“I don’t know what universe this is behaving in, but it’s not this one.” Tommy’s grumble was lost in the way his arms curled around Buck’s body. He pressed a gentle kiss right below Buck’s ear and slipped his hands under the sweatshirt.
“I’m sure I don’t know what you mean,” Buck said and he immediately leaned back into Tommy’s chest.
“So, how’s that coffee coming Diaz?” Tommy drawled and he chuckled at the slightly wide-eyed look on Eddie’s face.
“Right, almost done. Did uh, did you two have plans today?” Eddie said and he winced slightly.
“Pretty sure we were just going to stay in. Why Diaz, are you ready for another rematch? I thought you were still sore from the last time we played Mariokart,” Buck teased. A cheer from the living room had all three men laughing.
“You’re on Buckley. Assuming your new man doesn’t distract you too much,” Eddie said, a wicked twinkle in his eyes. Buck gasped and flapped a hand at Eddie.
“Rude! Chris, your dad is bullying me!” Buck slipped away from Tommy, grabbed his coffee, and went to bicker with Christopher. Tommy watched him go for a moment, then accepted his mug from Eddie. They turned to the living room and basked in the sounds of Buck and Christopher teasing each other and laughing. Buck whipped around when he heard Eddie gasp.
“Wait a month? Shit- did we interrupt your date?” Eddie said, face slowly turning red. Buck shrugged.
“No worries, man. It was just our first date. And Evan’s first with a man,” Tommy said and he winked. He slipped past a choking Eddie and tugged Buck into his side as he slid onto the couch. Christopher almost fell off the couch from laughing so hard and Buck whipped out his phone to get a picture of Eddie’s face. It quickly became Eddie’s new contact photo.
