Water dripped from the ceilings onto the cold ground. Large quantity’s of blood can be found on the floor. It’s cold and stinks of urine and other bodily fluids as if it hasn’t been cleaned in forever. The room is made of pure concrete on all sides and the chains are more made for an incredibly strong beast rather than a human. In the center can be found a figure that, if you squint, is humanoid. The being is barely skin and bones with scars and wounds littered across his body and mold on a couple of the more serious ones. If you look closely bones are protruding from his body and his stare is empty as if it lost all meaning to live.
All of this because of a misunderstanding that couldn’t be cleared up.
“What a fortuitous day this is, tsu~. To finally meet our hero,” A brown skin child said.
Subaru looked behind him and grit his teeth when his eyes landed on the child.
“‘Hero’? There’s already been a time where someone thought I was in league, so I’d appreciate it if you guys stopped singing my praises” Subaru said, his hand reaching towards his whip.
The Child's tongue comes out of his mouth.
“No, no. That won’t do, after all, our feeling for you has nothing to do with your stink, tsu~. You’re the only person to blame for our pure and honest feelings for you. Perhaps a repeat of our affection is in order,” The child chuckles.
“Again, you're not making any sense. Are you sure you're not mixing me up with somebody else? One of your own has already made that mistake with me,” Subaru said to the archbishop.
The archbishops smile widens.
” There's no way that we're the ones in error. Just by looking at you, you're obviously our beloved Subaru-kun, ~tsu, ” The high ranking cultist said, mimicking a familiar voice.
The voice of someone he’s been trying to save for the last year. Rems’s voice.
Subaru looks at the Child.
” What… did you just say? ” Subaru says, slowly.
“ Tell me, ~tsu. Has big sister been well? ” the Sin Archbishop said.
Blood lust covers Subaru as he chooses his next words.
“ Who the hell are you? Which sin are you?! ” Subaru snarled while glaring at the child.
” Have you truly forgotten about us? That is a shame, but it's fine. All that means is that we have to start from square one. No, from zero, ~tsu! ” The Archbishop taunts Subaru.
“GLUTOOOOONY!” Subaru yells, falling for the cultist trap and rushing towards him.
Gluttony smiles while he’s out stretches his hand.
“Gotcha, tsu~,” Gluttony says while touching Subaru’s chest.
”Natsuki Subaru!” The Sin Archbishop yells and before Subaru can do anything he licks his palm.
He lost consciousness soon after.
When he woke up and went to where the Emilia camp was… they called him a Sin Archbishop and he was tortured for information he didn’t have. Sometimes, when he’s alone he wonders if he could’ve done things differently.
‘ It hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts… it hurts- ’ Subaru thought.
He doesn’t know for how long he’s been in this cell. Days? Months? Years? … Centuries ?

Subaru hears something whisper in his mind but it hurts too much to think or do… anything. Subaru feels a surge of pain go through his body and he’s able to think of one more thing before going back to the insanity that is his mind.
’ Another… failed loop ,’ Subaru thinks.
<<Notice: 3rd party is attempting to halt the reincarnation process. Finding 3rd party. Successfully found. The individual [Satella] is now attempting to make a request to the Voice of the World.>>
The voice speaks out again but Subaru is already back into the same looping thoughts of pain.
<<Notice: Due to the nature of the request of the individual [Satella] to give the individual [Subaru Natsuki] the [Authority of Envy: Return by Death] it will not be possible to complete. Instead her soul will be allowed to sleep within the new body of the individual [Subaru Natsuki].>>
‘ It burns. Please stop Felix. It’s hot. It’s hot. It’s hot- ’ Subaru continues.
<<Successfully gained [Heat Resistance].>>
<<Notice: Due to the individual [Subaru Natsuki] being in a poor state of mind, all traumatic memories or memories with extreme negative emotions will be sealed during the reincarnation process.>>
‘ I hate dying. Why do I have to die? I don’t want to die. I don’t want to. It’s cold. So, so… cold ,’ Subaru thinks.

‘ Why did they leave me behind…? Was it their fault? Was it Gluttony’s? It was Gluttony. So… why? ’ Subaru wondered somewhere in his broken mind.

”Hah… hah ..hah… th-ank… you.”
Was Natsuki Subaru’s last words. Who he was thanking was unknown, but that didn’t matter. All that mattered was that when he closed his eyes… they never opened again.
“We’re hungry~, tsu~!” Roy Alphard said while running forward to attack the Emilia and Anastasia camps.
A week after Pride’s death, Anastasia, or should I say, Eridna suggested that they should go to the Pleiades Watchtower for a cure for the people of Priestellia. Unfortunately they didn’t manage to make it to the tower and were in the middle of a strategic retreat until they were interrupted by the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Roy Alphard.
“Shut up, Monster!” Ram yelled out, shooting a wind spell.
”So harsh, Nee-sama, tsu~,” The Archbishop said while dodging Ram’s attack.
“[Ice Brand Arts]!” Emilia yells out, a sword manifesting in her hand.
”Strong as always, Emilia-tan~!” Roy yells out while smiling widely.
Emilia attempts to slash at him from above which he dodges easily.
“HAHAHAHA!” Roy laughs.
”Minya, in fact!” Beatrice yells out.
Roy Alphard dodges but the crystal still manages to pierce his outfit. He looks down and his smile widens.
“We thought you loved us, Be-a-ko, ~tsu!” Roy Alphard says.
”Disgusting, in fact! No one could ever love you!” Beatrice yelled at him while launching more minya’s.
He dodges all of them while laughing.
Emilia shoots lances at him and Ram puts out everything she has into shooting more wind spells.
The archbishop continues to dodge but each projectile gets closer and closer.
“[Leaper]!” Roy yells and he disappears as if he was never there in the first place.
Emilia, Ram, Beatrice, and Julius(Who was defeated by the archbishop) looked around in alarm.
“[Ice Brand Arts]!” They heard a voice from above say.
Emilia looks up in alarm to see a white sword of ice coming down upon her at an alarming rate.
She puts up her sword and barely blocks the hit.
”Isn’t that-!” Emilia says but is interrupted by another strike, this one aimed towards her side.
Emilia dodges by jumping back.
”How do you have that spell, in fact!” Beatrice yells, wanting answers.
Roy smile threatened to split his face in half
“Onii-san’s name was truly delicious, tsu~. Even if I’m not like Ley I can still enjoy a good meal,” Roy says, confusing everyone present.
“Die!” Ram yells, launching a wind blade towards him.
he dodges but-
“Grk-!”
-He didn’t notice the purple arrow that was launched towards him which is currently impaled in his chest. He falls over like a puppet who’s strings were cut and he coughs out blood.
“Finally, in fact,” Beatrice sighed of relief.
”Pff-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!” Roy bursts out laughing as if he wasn’t just impaled.
”What are you laughing about, monster,” Julius spat out.
The Archbishop doesn’t answer him but instead says something none of them expected.
A single name.
”Natsuki… Subaru,” the archbishop said, smiling while he bled out.
Eventually… he died.

”Natsuki… Subaru?” Someone said.
No one knew who. But that didn’t matter. After all… They remembered
”Su…baru.” Emilia said slowly.
Her eyes widened in shock and disbelief. Despair etched itself on her face, horror and sorrow reigned her mind. She fell to her knees.
” AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! ” She let out a scream of pure despair that could break anyone’s heart.
Tears streamed down her cheeks for she knew… there was no taking it back.

A/N: Hello There.
This is the first Chapter of the Rewrite. It might not seem too different compared to the other one except for the slightly longer fight with Roy but if you pay attention to the words of the VOTW then you’ll notice some very important changes which are gonna completely change the story to what it was going to be originally. The story for a couple chapters is indeed gonna follow cannon since I can’t find any way to change things but things are gonna be shotabaru levels of change later on. Still kinda the same but at the same time completely different and new… I hope.
