The noise hadn’t stopped yet. It wasn’t annoying - really, nothing Brittany did annoyed Santana, which she considered a minor miracle - but it was curious.
She’d been awake a while. A rare treat of sleeping in, then a run, gym session - she’d rocked her squats - and now she was laid across the bed, idly flicking through a gossip rag (her guilty pleasure, and it was less diverting than her phone).
It wasn’t rare for Brittany to have friends over. Her girl had an open heart, friends everywhere. Even if they fancied Brittany a bit - well, who wouldn’t? Santana got to be the one who curled up in her arms at night, skin against skin - and it wasn’t even about sex, just that closeness.
She’d won, and she’d be grateful forever to Britt for choosing her.
Still, it wasn’t even midday yet. The voices were quiet, an effort to not disturb the laziness of the morning, she figured, but Santana grew curious.
She slipped on some comfortable lounge wear, strolled out of the room, and blinked.
“Brittany?”
Brittany was stood by their round table, a wave of snacks and reef of brightly coloured bottles dotted across. The radio was on, but played quietly.
A pitcher was in one hand, a can of something energetic in the other, as Brittany added it to the concoction already sparkling way in the jug.
Santana knew some of the people there, at least.
Sugar sat with some bright pink beverage, and Santana could never tell if she was sober or not, but she grinned, waved at Santana, missed her mouth with the straw, poking her cheekbone, next to where she’d pasted on tiny glittery pink hearts.
Tina was next to her, mostly looking chill. “Okay, I know I complained that I’m not goth anymore - but this is amazing, thank you - oh! Hi, Santana.” There was a definite non sequitur there, the hint of an approaching tipsiness, as she gestured to a tall glass, jet black liquid curling under a thin layer of something red.
Kitty mostly looked amused, though her cheeks were pink, nodding at Santana, then going back to her mini pizza. Santana didn’t know she was coming, but she and Kitty were mostly chill now. Maybe she could ask about her Quinn obsession later. See if that blush could get worse.
There were two girls Santana didn’t know.
A sunny looking ginger was watching Brittany make her cocktail with fascination waved at Santana, and - huh, she really sounded like she meant it - said; “Thank you for having us! It’s such a nice apartment. Sorry if we’re too loud.”
Next to her was a brunette, ears dotted with piercings, heavy eyeliner, and a nervous expression - though Santana noticed the way she smiled when the ginger talked, and yeah, she wondered if they were together yet, or if they’d even realised. “And sorry for, well…” she gestured down to herself.
Because that was the odd thing. Brittany was wearing the same as when Santana had got home - one of Santana’s hoodies, and nothing below. A shock enough, but…
Everyone else was dressed similarly, with everything below the waist very on display. From Santana’s position, with them all sat, she had a clear view of Kitty and Tina’s butts, and she was trying not to make a crass comment… at least for now.
“Babe. Didn’t want shorts today?”
Brittany grinned, clearly trying not to laugh. God, Santana loved her. “Oh, don’t you get it?”
Santana realised, just a moment too late, “Oh god, was this for a pun-“
Brittany was beaming, still. A little proud. “Bottomless brunch!”
