Bzz bzz bzz
EJ woke to the sound of his phone alarm, face buried in curls and left arm numb from his sleeping girlfriend lying on it. Twisting around, and using his available hand, he awkwardly picked up his phone.
6:15am
He tapped the screen to silence the blaring sound, before dropping the phone back onto the nightstand. Flopping back on his pillow, he ran his hand over his face. After a moment, he lifted himself up, carefully shifting over Gina.
Placing feather-light kisses across her face, he gently ran his hand down and back up her side, gently waking her.
“Babe…”
“Mmm”
“Gina.”
“Mhm… yeah?”
“It’s after 6, we need to get up.”
Softly groaning in reluctant acknowledgment, Gina rolled over onto her back and stretched her arms up above her. Seizing the opportunity while her back was arched, EJ freed his arm and pushed himself up against the headboard. Looking down, he found himself smiling at the sight of his girlfriend, as her head lolled to the side, appearing to have dozed off again. Shaking his head, EJ leant over, placing a soft kiss on her temple before climbing out of bed.
It was no secret they were both early risers. Their friends, and especially Ashlyn, had always given them a hard time about it over the years. Most of the time, Gina was the first one up, but EJ knew that she’d been caught with an assignment last night and didn’t climb into bed until well after midnight. So, he decided to leave her sleep a little longer.
A couple minutes and a warm shower later, EJ was standing in front of the mirror finishing getting ready. As he was fiddling with his hair, Gina appeared at the doorway, rubbing her hands over her eyes. Despite only just getting out of bed, he still thought she looked gorgeous, crumpled tee and all.
Turing slightly, EJ opened an arm out so she could slip in against his side, wrapping her arms around his torso.
“Morning” he greeted, placing a kiss on her cheek, “sleep well?”
“Better than expected actually, all things considered.” She said, unwrapping herself from EJ’s embrace, moving to turn on the shower.
“Did you get done what you needed to do last night?”
“Mostly. I’ve still got to edit it, but the bulk of it is done.” Gina replied, slightly muffled as she pulled her t-shirt over her head.
EJ, who was leaning against the vanity unashamedly watching her, felt a swell of pride and adoration bloom throughout his chest. He had witnessed firsthand just how hard she had worked to get where she was and understood the drive behind it all. It was one of the many things he loved about her. Before he could stop himself, he found himself in front of Gina and gently tilted her chin up and brought their lips together. He felt Gina relax into it, as she wound her arms around his shoulders.
“Proud of you.” He whispered against her lips, before moving to trail kisses along her jaw. Gina, who was clearly more mindful of the running water behind them, gently pushed back against EJ’s chest as he started to move down her neck.
“As much as I would love to continue this, I’ve gotta shower otherwise we’re both going to be late.” She placed a palm to his cheek and laughed as he feigned annoyance.
As she turned around, stepping into the shower, EJ couldn’t help himself and cheekily love-tapped her butt before swiftly leaving the bathroom.
“Oh my god!” Gina’s laugh rang out.
“Love you!”

Just under an hour later, they pulled up to Gina’s college campus.
“I’ll see you later?” EJ asked, as Gina reached for her bag in the backseat.
“As long as your still free for lunch?” Bag now in her lap, Gina leant over the armrest, kissing him. EJ’s work was only around the corner from the college campus, so once a week they organised to meet up for lunch at a local café.
“For you? Always.” EJ replied, chasing her lips for another kiss before she pulled away, hoping out of the car.
