Chapter Text
Ozzie woke earlier than he'd expected. Something was amiss. He felt it in his heart as he lay in bed. He'd had this feeling for days but couldn't put his finger on it. It took him only a second to realize that his beloved Fizzarolli wasn't next to him.
Ozzie remained still for several minutes before sighing and climbing out of bed. He pulled his robe on and moved into the kitchen.
He pulled a glass from the cupboard, filling it with juice.
His uneasiness got the best of him as he crossed into the living room.
The sin didn't bother turning the lights on before sitting in his favorite chair, leaning his head back and closing his eyes.
It wasn't long before the silence was interrupted by soft, painful moans. Ozzie opened his eyes, his attention now on the sofa.
Fizz lay motionless, one hand resting on his belly and the other lightly pressed to his forehead.
"Fizzy?" The sin called softly. The imp didn't reply, prompting Ozzie to set his drink down and move closer. "Fizzy." He repeated, raising his voice slightly.
"Hm?" Fizz didn't bother to open his eyes. Ozzie lowered himself onto the seat next to him.
"Are you okay?" He asked in concern.
"Yeah," Fizz's delayed reply and change in tone caused Ozzie to frown.
"Did I do something to upset you?"
"No, why?"Fizz questioned, slowly opening his eyes and quickly closing them again.
"Last night, we were both in bed.
When I woke up, you were out here like this. It's not like you to just sleep on the couch, Froggy."
"Just a little tired, Ozzie. We had a big day. I just needed-"
"It wasn't just today. Something just seemed off the last few days. Is there something you want to tell me?" Ozzie inquired gently.
"No." Ozzie nodded.
"Okay, Fizz," The sin sighed, "I'll rephrase. Is there anything you should be telling me?" The imp remained silent, "I can't help you if you don't tell me what's going on."
"There isn't much to do," Fizz replied hesitantly, "I just...I was going back to the room."
"But?" Ozzie pressed.
"But...I might've gotten a little dizzy and laid on the couch for a while."
"You might have?" Ozzie asked skeptically.
"M-maybe a little?"
"How are you feeling now?" Again, the question was met with silence. Ozzie took Fizz's hand, placing his other on top, "Froggy, look at me." He requested. Fizz reluctantly complied.
"I need you to know that you're important to me. I love you, always and no matter what. If you're not feeling good, I want you to tell me so I can be there for you. Why don't I take you back to bed, and we'll have a quiet day?"
"But Ozzie, you have-"
"Nothing is more important to me than you. I can reschedule, but I can't get another you. You're keeping your hand on your stomach. Does it hurt, do you feel sick?"
"I-it hurts a little, but-" Fizzarolli was lifted into the sin's arms, held lovingly as his head rested against Ozzie's chest.
Ozzie began to make his way to the bedroom.
"You feel pretty warm, baby," Ozzie commented, lightly pressing his forehead to Fizz's.
Once in the bedroom, Ozzie paused beside the bed, creating a small stack of pillows before placing the imp on the mattress, using them to prop him up comfortably, and sitting next to him, "Do you want a light blanket?"
"I can-" Fizz began, shakily pushing himself into a sitting position, only to be stopped by his lover's gentle hand on his chest.
"Just rest, Froggy. I got you." Ozzie turned to the closet, removing a soft pink blanket. He opened it, laying it across the demon's thin body.
"Do you want me to bring you anything before I go make some calls?"
"I'll be fine. You don't have to restructure the whole day because I-I'm a little uncomfortable, I've felt worse, this is nothing. I can-"
"I know you can. But the thing is, you don't have to, and I want to.
So whatever you need, I'll make sure you get it. I'd like you to stay in bed, at least until you're not dizzy anymore and the fever's gone."
"But Ozzie-"
"Easy, Froggy, rest is the only thing you need to worry about right now. I'm going to see if I can find a thermometer, and we'll go from there." Ozzie leaned down, kissing Fizz's head lightly before starting on his way.
A painful groan escaped the imp as his hand found its way to the source of the pain.
The ailing imp sighed heavily. He mentally kicked himself for being so weak. Ozzie deserved better, he decided. Someone worthy of the love he'd been shown. For the moment, Fizz knew there wasn't much he could do. Guilt gripped his heart as he thought of holding the sin back from his responsibilities and what that could mean for business. Rest was impossible for Fizz as the thoughts ran through his head, All he could ever do was hold him back, and knowing he had nothing to give, made it that much more difficult to take from Ozzie, who had already given him the world.
