Work Text:
It had been brief, almost too light to feel but it happened. It definitely happened. A bump of soft skin against soft skin breaking a barrier that hadn’t mattered until now.
The fingers now brushing those same lips are rough and calloused but not the ones he’s becoming used to.
Buck can’t help the way his lips part or the way his eyes drift to Eddie’s own mouth. His gaze goes unnoticed because Eddie’s own hazy eyes are intent on following the path of his fingers.
It breaks something inside him to say the words.
“Eddie I’m with Tommy.”
The fingers move away at once and the soft sound that leaves his best friend’s mouth is undefinable.
The words are clear even if they are a little slurred.
“I know, just never thought I could, before.”
Eddie laughs but he’s not amused.
“Still can’t huh!”
Then he stumbles away and Buck lets himself slump to the floor. He hears a thump that judging by the feet he can see sticking out of the bath tub is Eddie choosing where to spend the night.
The floor is surprisingly comfortable and he’s far too drunk to deal with any of this and so is Eddie. They’ll talk in the morning. It’ll be alright in the morning.
Dawn breaks and the sun is well into the sky before anyone has the motivation to open their eyes and by then neither of them remembers anything of the night before, including what the hell happened to the groom.
