Work Text:
Hermione, Luna, and Fleur were sitting at the table having lunch when Hermione cleared her throat. “I want to discuss something with you two.”
“Oh?” Fleur looked up from her plate while Luna tilted her head.
“Yes, I have been thinking about the basement room.” Hermione put her sandwich down. “I was thinking of making it into a lab for experimentation.”
Luna shook her. “No.”
Luna’s answer surprised her lovers.
“Why not?” Hermione looked puzzled.
“I can’t discuss, but please don’t do this.” Luna left the room.
“I feel like we are missing an important part about our lover.” Fleur looked worried.
Hermione and Fleur left their lunch to find Luna. They found her staring at an old picture.
“Luna?” Hermione walked up to her. “Talk to us.”
“I don’t want to lose you too, Hermione,” Luna whispered.
“You won’t lose me, Luna.” Hermione sat down next to her. Fleur crouched down in front of her.
“Can you promise me that you will never get hurt?” Luna looked so sad.
“Where is this coming from, Luna?” Fleur asked.
Luna gave her the picture. “This is my Mother. She was a Healer at St. Mungo’s.” She started to cry.
Hermione and Fleur looked worried as Hermione rubbed her back.
“There was an outbreak of Dragon Pox, and the usual meds weren’t working. She was experimenting with spells and other potions in our basement.” Luna broke down crying.
“Oh, my moon, did something happen?” Hermione hugged tightly as Fleur joined them on the couch.
Luna nodded into Hermione’s chest.
“Can you tell us?” Fleur murmured.
“I just happened to be watching her work from the corner, and she was so focused on her experiment that she got startled by an owl banging on the window. The experiment went horribly wrong.”
“Oh, Moon,” Fleur and Hermione wrapped her into their arms and held her while she wept her sorrow.
“That’s why you can see the threstals.” Hermione sighed. “We should have asked you before, my love.”
“It’s okay.” Luna shook her head.
“Non, mon amour.” Fleur brought her face up and wiped her tears away. “We should communicate better and talk more about our childhoods before schooling.”
“Yes, I agree, and we can do something else with the basement.” Hermione caressed Luna’s cheek.
“Really?” Luna was amazed that Hermione would give up her lab.
“Yes. Luna, it would be best if you weren’t worried about me when I’m down there. I would rather do something that all of us would enjoy.” Hermione gave her a sweet kiss.
“I love you, Hermione.” Luna hugged her tight.
“I love you, too, my moon, along with our flower.” Hermione smiled at both of them. “Shall we finish lunch?”
Luna’s stomach rumbled. “Yes, please. Can we make pudding after?”
“Oui.” Fleur pulled her two lovers up and kissed them before they finished their lunch, discussing ideas for the basement.
