Chapter Text
A massive explosion illuminates the dark night, everyone in the area is either dead or escaped. In a corner amidst debris and cars, an object emitting light and blue rays glows, accompanied by a peculiar sound. Nearby buildings collapse, others explode into a sea of flames or crumble into decay. The ground cracks and sinks, smoke obstructing the view and bodies scattered everywhere, blood painting the streets, fire consuming their bodies.
Inside a building that appears to be a factory, two individuals stand a few meters apart. One wears a black suit with white hair, while the other dons a black coat, carries a black katana, and has black hair. They gaze at each other in silence, no sound escaping, only observation. The man with white hair turns slightly and moves to the side, shifting debris to reveal a sheathed katana. He cleans it and returns to his position, unsheathing the sword and locking eyes with the man with black hair.
"So, here we go again, isn't it?" Yami, the man with white hair, starts stepping towards Yamato, the other man. Yamato mimics the action and replies, "What can I say, it's like a tradition, right?" Both men quicken their pace. Yami begins running towards Yamato, lifting his sword and attacking with a downward strike. Yamato blocks the move with his own sword. Yami jumps back and takes off again, Yamato starts moving towards Yami. They both brandish their swords, clashing and releasing sparks. A wooden beam set ablaze falls from the ceiling.
"If we don't hurry, we'll end up crushed. Why don't you let me finish you off so it's faster?" Yami comments to Yamato, a smirk forming on his face. Yamato smiles, pushes Yami's sword away, and responds, "How about you give me what I want and we end this?" Once again, they clash their swords. As the cold metals collide, an explosion of flames erupts from the windows. Yami ducks and sweeps Yamato's feet. Before he touches the ground, Yami puts a hand on the floor and kicks Yamato's face, sending him flying backward. His sword falls along the way. When Yamato tries to get up, a downward strike hits his face, barely managing to move back to turn it into a superficial cut.
Before he can do anything other than dodge a strike, Yamato collides against his left side. He rolls on the ground to avoid another strike. As he lifts his head, his face is kicked, and once again, he is thrown backward. He quickly gets back up and dodges the sword, taking advantage of the opening to punch Yami in the face. After a few more punches, Yami manages to cover himself and knee Yamato. Before Yamato can recover, Yami spins and cuts his abdomen. Yamato falls backward on the ground and stretches his arm in a specific direction. Yami runs towards the white-haired man and strikes downward again, releasing a large amount of sparks from the clash of two metals. "So, you wanted me to bring you back to your sword," Yami is sweating heavily, just like his adversary. Yamato smiles once again and responds, "I knew you wouldn't notice at that moment."
Yamato kicks Yami's stomach and throws him backward, causing him to roll on the ground. Yami quickly gets back up and launches another attack on Yamato. They clash their swords once again, exchanging blows. Each strike releases more sparks than the previous one. Yamato crouches and tries to cut Yami from his right side with an upward strike. Yami quickly positions his sword and defends himself. The force pushes him a few meters backward, and he falls to the ground. He quickly stands up, but Yamato is no longer in his range of vision. His pupils dilate, and in a swift movement, he directs his gaze and sword upwards, catching sight of Yamato and protecting himself from the deadly strike aimed at his head.
-You have good instincts- Yamato once again in the air but this time he is heading backwards -You are quite sneaky, so I have to think about each of your moves- Yamato laughs a little and once again launches into the fight against Yami, the dark-haired man runs towards Yamato and he swings his sword in a sideways cut, Yami crouches down and brings his arm back, he holds his sword straight and thrusts it through Yamato, Yamato's eyes widen and some blood escapes from his mouth, Yami twists his body and moves, thus removing the sword from Yamato's body, before Yamato can react another cut is thrown but this time at his hands, when he looks forward and sees a kick coming towards him, all he can do is lower his arms in the hope that they will serve as a shield, the kick is so strong that Yamato is pushed back a few meters, but he remains standing.
-It's over, Yamato- Yami begins to walk slowly and triumphantly towards Yamato, Yamato simply lowers his gaze to the ground -How many years have we been fighting?- Yamato smiles vaguely and blood starts to come out of his mouth again, but it is in small threads of blood, the object emitting light and blue rays starts to smoke -Quite a few years, too many- Yami moves his sword upwards and swiftly brings it down, stopping it halfway, the blood that was on the cold and sharp blade falls to the ground, the object emitting light and blue rays starts to vibrate -Do you remember Yakimura?- Yami stopped and positioned his sword in front of him and spoke -Of course I remember, he was a great man- Yami brought the sword back and crouched down a bit -Yes, you're absolutely right- Yami started running towards Yamato, climbed onto a rubble and took a big leap, he raised his sword and started to fall, the object stopped emitting rays and the light went out.
Another explosion was released at the site, a small shockwave with blue tones emerged from the explosion, Yami was landing, Yamato placed his hand in front to block the sword, Yami let out a scream and while practically in front of Yamato, he swung his sword in a deadly descending cut, an orange flash blocked Yami's vision for a few seconds, when the brightness diminished, he was able to see clearly, several sparks were released, Yami's sword and Yamato's hand, which was covered by something similar to an energy field, the sword was colliding against it and releasing sparks in an attempt to pierce through it, the field was protecting Yamato, Yami began to exert more force but it was in vain, a shockwave pushed Yami away from Yamato and he landed a few meters behind -But, it's a pity that you ran out of time, isn't it, Yamikumo-
Yami's scarlet eyes looked at Yamato with anger, he stood up, gripped the handle of his sword as tight as he could, and began to run towards Yamato, when he reached him, he tried to strike him with an upward cut, but once again he was covered by the shield, this time all over his body, Yamato crouched down and deactivated the shield, and from his arm a sword made of energy emerged, Yami barely realized it and tried to cover himself, but this sword emitted a high temperature, when he covered himself he was thrown backwards, his clothes almost caught fire and his sword almost melted, he raised his head and looked at Yamato -Heh, this has become a suicide mission- Yami tried to make a joke, but speaking was costing him, he was very tired, that shield drained his own energy every time he hit it.
Yamato raised his arm, opened his hand towards Yamikumo, and in the palm of his hand a sphere made of a kind of purple energy appeared -It's a pity that this comes to an end, Yamikumo, you had the upper hand in close combat, but your luck ends here, if it serves as consolation, I gave a painless death to all those you loved- Yami gave a sideways smile and looked at Yamato, he took a step with all his strength, ready to launch himself at him and kill him, but before taking the next step, the sphere in Yamato's palm swelled and shot towards Yamikumo, it pierced through him, leaving a hole in his chest.
Yami dropped his sword to the ground, and an excessive amount of blood began to pour out of his body. Through the hole, Yami's organs could be seen, twisting and writhing as if in agony. A kind of vapor emitted from them, and the bones of his spine were charred at the tips that opened up into a hole. Yami's body fell to the ground, and an excessive amount of blood started to gush from his mouth. His right arm was crushed by his own body, remaining below his waist. His pupils dilated, his legs trembled, and a pool of blood spread beneath his body. His organs began to protrude from their places, attempting to escape through the hole in his chest.
Yamato slowly approached and stood in front of Yami, observing him in his final moments. "You resisted as much as you could. Now, you will give me that incredible ability of yours, and you will never return," Yamato said. He began to bring his hand closer to Yami's head, and small red rays emanated from his palm. Before proceeding, Yami spoke, gathering all the strength he had left. "Instead of... examining my corpse... you should have examined me... when I was alive," Yami said. Yamato didn't understand what he meant until he saw Yami abruptly pull his arm from under his body and saw what he had in his hand. Yamikumo was never afraid of death; he always eluded it. Death would never own him. And if he managed to die before Yamato could steal his precious gift, there would be no way to recover it. Yamato panicked and quickly stretched out his hand to touch Yamikumo's head, but before he could do so, Yamikumo uttered his final words, "Hasta la vista, baby."
The grenade in Yami's hand exploded, causing the burning building they were in to explode even more, spreading flames everywhere. The shock wave destroyed the last remaining columns that held the place, causing the building to collapse. A large amount of smoke and dust rose in the air, debris flying everywhere, thus ending the battle between Yamato and Yamikumo.
