Work Text:
Friede blinks the sleep out of his eyes.
What time is it..?
Judging by the darkness of the room and the sleeping body his arms are wrapped around, likely late. Especially considering said body’s terrible sleeping habits.
He tugs Spinel closer to himself before grumbling softly. As much as he’d like to stay here in the other’s comfortable bed, there was one problem.
He was really thirsty.
So despite his reluctance, he extracts himself from the bed—slowly, as to avoid waking up Spinel—and heads off to the kitchen.

Good thing I’ve been here so much. What kind of place needs this many winding hallways??
Had he been inexperienced in navigating the maze that the Explorers’ base is, it would’ve taken him hours to get to the kitchen. Luckily for him, his “sleepovers” were a common occurrence.
Friede grabs a cup from the cupboard and holds it under the tap, waiting for the cup to fill. He yawns once the cup is full, taking the cup and turning off the tap.
He gets in one sip before being jumpscared by a pair of arms circling him from behind.
“Why did you leave.”
Friede can hear the scowl in the other’s voice before even turning around—Spinel was incredibly cranky when tired. Friede has dealt with it enough to know.
“Just went off to get water, it was only gonna take a second.” Friede tries to turn around to face the other, though Spinel’s grip around him prevents this.
Spinel lets out a small grumble, before burying his face into the back of Friede’s neck. He’s barely conscious, I’ll bet. Usually, Spinel would rather be caught dead than acting like this.
Spinel’s grip weakens enough for Friede to turn around. Sure enough, the other fell asleep, slumping onto Friede. Friede’s gaze softens, ruffling Spinel’s hair before picking him up in a bridal carry. Immediately, the other leans into him.
Friede plants a peck on his cheek. Spinel doesn’t get like this often— may as well enjoy it while it lasts.
Friede takes the two of them back to Spinel’s room, leaving his poor water abandoned.
—
The moment Friede sets Spinel on the bed and joins him under the covers, the other clings to him like a Komala, burying his face into the crook of Friede’s neck. Friede returns the gesture, wrapping his arms around the other and tugging him closer.
They fall asleep like this, completely tangled together.

..What. What????
Amethio just wanted a drink. Just a drink.
He did not sign up for this. He did not need to know his two worst enemies were.. together??
He doesn’t think he’s thirsty anymore. He flees to his room and prays he will forget this by morning.
He doesn’t.
