Chapter 1: Blue
Chapter Text
Spring had come to the Hundred Acre Woods and with it the banks of bluebells beside the paths. Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet were admiring the blossoms when Rabbit came hurrying down the path muttering to himself.
He clearly wasn’t looking where he was going because suddenly he tripped on a twig which was lying across the path and fell forwards. Pooh and Piglet rushed to pick him up.
“Are you all right?” Piglet asked anxiously.
“Yes, thank you,” Rabbit said, brushing soil off his knees. “I was too busy thinking about something to look where I was going.”
“Today isn’t a day for thinking about things,” Pooh said. “Today is a day for looking at them. These bluebells won’t be here for very long, so we’ve stopped to enjoy them while they are here.”
“You know, you are quite right,” Rabbit replied. “I should slow down and enjoy the flowers too. Well, nice to see you both.”
Rabbit left them, but this time he was no longer hurrying, but walking along the path enjoying the bluebells as he went.
Don’t be in a rush
With no time to look at the flowers
Stop and hear the thrush
And enjoy the springtime hours
Chapter 2: Purple
Chapter Text
The sun was hot and Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet were strolling along enjoying the shade which was cast by the trees of the Hundred Acre Woods. Finally, they came out of the woods and headed towards Eeyore’s home.
Eeyore was standing outside. “Isn’t that a marvellous sight?” he said, nodding towards a patch of ground covered in the purple flowers from the thistles.
“Err, yes,” replied Piglet, who wasn’t too sure, but didn’t want to upset his friend.
“Just think, all those lovely purple flowers will turn white and when the wind blows the seeds will take flight and land somewhere. And then they’ll take root and next year there will be another beautiful patch of purple thistles.”
“Since you put it like that,” Pooh agreed, “then yes, it does look good.”
The two friends wandered on, thinking they might go to the bridge for a game of Pooh sticks.
“Eeyore’s quite right,” Pooh said. “We might not think anything of a patch of flowering thistles, but it means a lot to him and that’s what’s important.”
“And if it makes a friend happy, then we should be happy, too,” Piglet agreed.
Piglet likes haycorns and I like hunny
And Eeyore has his own likes too
But whatever it is, the day is sunny
And what you like is up to you
Chapter 3: Red
Chapter Text
One autumn afternoon, Pooh and Piglet were walking back from the bridge, where they had again been playing Pooh sticks, when they saw Tigger further down the path. They waved to him, and he waved a paw back. When they joined him, they saw he was looking at a field of bright red poppies.
“Aren’t they lovely?” Piglet said.
“Yes, I suppose they are,” Tigger agreed, “but they make me feel a bit sad too and I don’t know why.”
“I think it’s ‘cos it’s autumn,” Pooh said, “and when it gets windy all the lovely red petals will blow away, just like the leaves are blowing off the trees.”
“And it’s a sign that the nights are longer and everywhere’s getting colder,” Piglet added with a shudder.
“But we don’t need to be sad,” Pooh said. “Because we know that although winter’s coming, spring will follow on and it’s all part of the wheelbarrow of life.”
“What’s the wheelbarrow of life?” Tigger asked.
The road ahead may be bumpy
And cold and wet may be rife
But once more Tigger will be jumpy
As we follow the wheelbarrow of life
Chapter 4: Orange
Chapter Text
It was a grey and murky day and Pooh and Piglet were hurrying along. They had come out for a walk, but it wasn’t the weather for an idle stroll, so they were heading to Kanga’s house, since it was time for a little something.
When they rang on the doorbell, Tigger let them in and Kanga called out, “What excellent timing, we were about to stop for a snack, would you like to join us?”
Piglet said, “Thank you, that would be very nice,” and Pooh said, “Yes, please!”
When Kanga came into the sitting room, Piglet said, “I like your orange flowers, they’re not real, are they?”
“No, I made them from some orange paper. Tigger dear, if you are going to bounce like that then you need to go and bounce outside for a few minutes. What was I saying? Oh yes, everywhere seemed so dreary I thought we needed something to cheer us up, so I made some orange flowers. Tigger, shut the door behind you, we don’t want the cold wind to join us in here!”
Pooh and Piglet admired the flowers and enjoyed their snacks and when Tigger came in again and had been told to wipe his muddy paws on the door mat, Pooh composed a pome for them all.
Kanga has made some flowers
Because she’s tired of the dreary rain
So she’s brightened up the hours
Until spring comes back again
