Work Text:

Luci was sleeping at Beans window seat after yet another night of drinking with Bean and Elfo, when Luci slowly opened his eyes he was not expecting the immediate blinding light from outside to be the first thing he sees.
Luci hissed like a cat as he slowly adjusted his eyes to see it was coming from the sun reflecting off the snow covering everything outside. Luci looked around the room to make sure no one had caught him hissing (and sleeping) like a cat.

“Phew.” Luci sighed in relief as he only saw Bean heavily sleeping.

It was always an annoying day when one of his friends caught him acting like a cat. Luci looked out the window to see the bright white snow.

“Stupid winter.” Said Luci as he felt a shiver.

He hopped off the windowsill and went to light Beans fireplace. He quickly walked over to it and flicked a small flame into it that burst into a fire at the touch of the logs.

“Beeeeaaan, wake up.” Luci said as he walked over to Bean sleeping on her bed. “Bunty said she’s coming back with the bucket of water to wake you up.” Luci lied. “Mmm… but it’s too cold… I’ll freeze…” Bean replied while only being half awake. “You’re lucky she only lit the fire and not you.” Yet another lie from Luci.
Although he couldn’t just say he put it on. That would be too nice, besides, it was mostly for himself. “Mm… fire…” Bean said as she slowly got herself up. She was still half asleep however and definitely hungover. She looked around to see why it was so much colder than usual and saw white dots falling down outside. “Ew. Is that snow?” Asked Bean as she used the realization to wake herself up. “Yup. Wanna go throw some down peoples chimneys?” Said Luci.
“Eh, I don’t know…” Replied Bean as she walked over to her closet shivering. She came out quickly with a white wool sweater over her usual outfit.

“Wow! I didn’t know you had other clothes!” Luci said sarcastically seeing her ‘new’ outfit. “Shut up Luci. At least I wear clothes.” Bean said as she tiredly walked over to the fireplace in her room.

“So where’s Elfo?” Bean asked as she sat down. “He’s either still asleep somewhere or doing something dumb with the snow like building a snowman or making… eugh, snow angels…” Luci shuddered with uneasiness at the thought of snow angels. “Wanna go look for him?” Bean asked, she had no intention of getting up and away from the fire at the moment, but she hated awkward silence and he knew Luci wouldn’t say yes anyways.

“Look for ELFO of all guys after I just woke up? Hell no. He’ll probably find us soon anyways.” Luci was infact right, as not long after Elfo had entered the room. “Hey guys!” Elfo said as he joined them by the fire, he had been shivering all morning. “Hey Elfo.” Bean said. Luci just rolled his eyes.

“Man, this fire is real cozy… do you guys know why it’s so cold out?” Elfo said as he warmed his hands by the fire as if he had been outside all day. “It’s cause of all the snow outside buddy. You should go out and eat a chunks of it while you still can. It’s pretty good for you!” Luci said sarcastically. He enjoyed giving Elfo sarcastic suggestions and orders because Elfo never notices the sarcasm and even does it sometimes. “Don’t do that Elfo.” Bean sighed. “Jeez, way to ruin my entertainment for day, Bean.” Luci said dryly. Elfo was excited to hear about the snow as he had heard many fun things about it and even had some snow related activities on his bucket list. “Snow?! Can we have some snow fun?!” Elfo asked smiling. Luci was first to speak and say no but was interrupted by Bean. “Sure, why not. What do you want to do?” “WHAT?!” Exclaimed Luci with disappointment. “Ooh! Can we build snowman? Or go sledding?!” Asked Elfo. He was surprised Bean agreed and so was Bean, but she had nothing else to do. Other than drink, but it was nice to shake it up with something that isn’t committing a crime or almost getting herself killed.

“Both of those are pretty fun, let’s go build something.” Bean said. She got up to head back to her closet for her ear muffs, scarf and gloves. All of which were previous gifts from Oona, made by Oona. “If we’re going outside though you should put on comfier clothes Elfo. Luci you should to- actually you’re probably fine.” Bean was about to make Luci put on winter gear before she remembered, he is naturally warm and had been in the hot depths of hell for the past thousands of years, so he would be fine.

“Rude, but yes I’ll be fine.” Luci faked a scoff as a reaction to Bean not ‘worrying about his well-being’ even though she never really needed to and he didn’t want her to. In the demon way not the friend way. Mostly. After Elfo had finally found something to cover his ears, a set of earmuffs with his hat tucked over his ears, but only enough so the rest of his hat wouldn’t cover his eyes too, which was quite disappointing for Luci as he had already made up several plans to prank Elfo when he pulled his hat over his eyes accidentally, and Elfo was also wearing a scarf, boots was recommended but they couldn’t find any Elfos size.

Then they headed out. “Lower the drawbridge!” Bean yelled to the knights above in the main watch tower. “It’s kind of frozen, but okay.” Whined Turbish. The drawbridge came down slowly while the trio listened to Turbish and Mertz grunting. “Careful when you walk across guys, this time around it’s super hard to walk and the waterfall is cold enough to kill you.” Bean warned Elfo and Luci, Elfo and surprisingly Luci, took her advice but there was some slipping from all of them as they crossed the drawbridge, “Woah!” They screamed as Elfo almost fell off the side, but was quickly caught by Luci’s tail. Luci wasn’t going to bring Elfo back from the dead again, especially if he died from freezing to death at the end of the waterfall.

“Thanks Luci!” Elfo said smiling at Luci showing his gratitude to Luci for once. “Don’t thank me too soon! I still have the entire day to torture you with the cold!” Luci smiled back. It wasn’t a completely empty threat. Elfo frowned a little as he kept walking. After they successfully crossed the bridge Turbish called out to them: “If you find any, bring back some of that yellow snow for me. It’s delicious!”.

“Will do!” Luci called back before he quietly snickered. “Eugh! Bean, how come Turbish is working as a guard?” Elfo asked. Bean shrugged. “No idea. I think it had something to do with us running out of guards after the lemon crusade.” “Must have been real desperate back then.” Said Luci. “Clearly.” Bean replied back. The trio decided to head outside of Dreamland to the cliff, which had a beautiful view of Dreamland.

“So how do we build a snowman?” Asked Elfo. He knew what they looked like thanks to the few they passed on their trip here, but he was still clueless on how they were made. “It’s pretty easy, it’s just making 3 huge snowballs and stacking them up. And then we decorate the face.” “Oh! Like when they build frosty in frosty the snowman?” Elfo said, he gasped as he continued with a realization. “Will it come to life and laugh with us?!” Elfo asked smiling while Luci was suddenly confused. “Wait what? That’s not how frosty the snowman goes. A bunch of kids make a snowman, and they decorate it using one kid’s dad’s cursed hat, and then the snowman comes to life and eats them!” Luci said wondering where Elfo’s lame kid version came from. “What? Neither of you are right.” Bean chimed in. “What happens is that the snowman attacks all the citizens if they are built in Dreamland because Dreamland is cursed.” Bean continued, she didn’t want to say it, but now that she said the story out loud it didn’t seem like the original version. “Pft, you really think that’s the original version to a widely spread story?” Luci said. He knew exactly what Bean was thinking.
“Okay fine whatever, let’s just do something fun.” Bean said. Elfo agreed happily and Luci agreed reluctantly. Bean showed them the basics of making snowman and they all agreed to make their own. As Luci watched Bean style her snowman by patting the snow and adding curves for the face, Luci suddenly had a plan for his snowman and walked off to the area of snow he assigned himself in his head. Bean thought of all the fun details she could add after she was done, like a mermaid tail! Or a demon tail, and maybe even elf ears if she fingered out to make them stay up. Elfo stayed where he was and followed the traditional snowball method too. Luci snickered as he began patting up snow in the shape of ogre feet. To Luci, this activity was dumb. At least, the way Bean and Elfo were doing it was dumb. Luci planned to make a snow sculpture to scare the pants off some little one, preferably Elfo, but anyone worked.

After awhile the trio started finishing off their snowmen. “Hey Bean! I’m done my snowman!” Elfo calls out to Bean as he pats it all together. As Bean rolls her last snowball onto her snowman she take some deep breaths and wipes the sweat off her forehead after all the hard work. “That looks *deep breath* great, *deep breath* Elfo! Luci! H-how’s your snowman going *deep breath* buddy?” Bean sighed out of exhaustion. The snowballs were a lot heavier than she expected. But maybe that’s just because of the size she made them.

“Oh it’s going great Bean! Just finished!” Luci responded as he finished the last details to his snowman, luckily for Luci’s plan he was just far enough from the others so they couldn’t tell what exactly it was. Elfo could’ve sworn he heard a mischievous tone coming from Luci, and his suspicions were confirmed when Luci continued in a sing-song voice, which was usually the sound heard from Luci by Elfo moments before disaster. Bean and Elfo walked over to Luci’s area. Elfo shrieked when he saw Luci’s snow ogre, which had been designed to look exactly like the one whose eye Elfo accidentally stabbed. Luci burst out laughing with tear of joy in his eyes at the sight. “Oh my god that was hilaaaaarious! Bean did you see his face there?!” Luci exclaimed. Bean, who did see Elfos face and was trying (and failing) to hold her laugh responded in defense of Elfo; “Come on Luci, you gotta stop making fun of Elfo your entertainment for everything. Why don’t you pick on someone your own si- oh. Right.” Bean was about to finish her sentence until she looked at Luci who was walking up to her and then looked at Elfo and mentally compared their sizes. Bean quickly tried to change the subject. “Well uh anyways… what should we do now? The suns going down.”. “I know! Why don’t we stay here and watch the firework testing tonight?” Replied Elfo. “Oh yeah! Come on! I know the perfect spot!” Bean responded happily as she remembered the event and led them down to the edge of the cliff to sit. By now the sun was down, and the fireworks were ready to start. As they waited Luci pointed out to a puddle of yellow snow; “Hey Elfo! You should try some of that lemon snow!”. Elfo laughed sarcasticly and responded, not amused. “Oh haha Luci. But not again! You can fool me once, you can fool me TWICE, but you’re not getting a third kick outta this elf from that trick!”. Bean was about to question the twice part when suddenly the fireworks started. *CRACK* “Woahhhh!” The trio responded, as they relaxed into their spots on the ground and stared at the at the burst of colourful sparkles happening in the air. They were all enjoying the view, even Luci. Mostly because he knew he could come up with some gruesome excuse as to why he enjoyed the fireworks if either of them accused Luci of being sappy. The fireworks continued for a beautiful half an hour after that. Then, the trio headed home, of course not without stopping at the bar. The end
