Luca purrs, his belly up in the air as he feels his dad run his fingers through his silver colored fur. His nails kept kind of short, but a bit long, managing to get the scratches just right. His larynx vibrates steadily, his paws kneading against his dad’s keyboard mat. He liked the soft texture of it, the way it allowed him to fully sink in, without ruining the mat.
He watched the fast moving objects on the colorful screen. Little people running around and punching out in the air. He liked the one that was a bright yellow. They had such a sweet giggle. He looked back towards his dad. He had a big smile on his face as he called out to the person. His dad looked down briefly towards him, nothing but adoration in his big dark colored eyes. He had such a soothing voice, trying not to spook Luca.
His dad couldn’t scare him, not even if he tried. He liked to stay in 3 places, on his dads desk, under his dads blankets, and anywhere near his dad. It was the place he enjoyed more than anything.
The victory flashed against the screen, and he smiled towards his dad. Letting out small meows of joy when he lifted him up into the air and pressed small kisses to his head.
When the coin arrived he was so excited, sniffing the box, interested in where this new scent came from. He had to make sure it was safe. He tried rubbing some of his scent against the box, confused when his dad started opening it. Was it a new bed for Luca?
The bright coin was placed down on the counter, as his dad smiled wider, giggling and going “No way!” towards his phone. The yellow blob giggled just as happily back. He felt so happy here with them. He just wished that the one guy with a weird voice was here. He’d cheer his dad on through everything.
Luca wished that things lasted longer on his first run, Getting a front row seat of cheering his dad on. Seeing how much fun he had. But his tummy really hurt. He couldn’t eat much.
His dad was worried about him, spending a lot of time with “Nick” and telling him how small Luca was getting. He wanted to make his dad happy. His steps were wobbly as he butted against his hands. His chest thundering as he tried to smile at his dad.
His dad cooed at him, pressing long kisses to his head, and whispering constant "I love yous" to him.
When he saw his dad cry and the sharp pain in his side went off, he dropped his little toy into his dads hands. He knew he’d need it more. It was his favorite, he made sure to rub as much of his smell onto it as possible the past few weeks. He saw how his dad smiled sadly, tears running into his fur, but he tried to purr, even as his eyes fell shut.
It took him a year before he finally was able to see his dad play on his computer again, watching his screen flash with crazy words. Cat was smart, he knew his dad. Knew that his dad could tell he was still Luca, even though he looked quite a bit different, he had the same favorite toy, and the same favorite places.
He would watch the screen just as much as usual, sometimes even more.
He got this new cool ‘castle’ as his dad called it. It had a bunch of different holes, and climbing parts. Nick said it was ‘fit for a king’. Dream–the yellow blob–said that Cat looked so small in it.
He was called Cat because his dad was too scared to have a name given to him, it made things more real.
Cat knew his dad was feeling worse, his eyes always had dark spots, and his forehead always seemed to be tense. He cried a lot. His dad didn’t cry often. He tried to lay under the blankets with his dad, trying to bring him as much comfort as possible. It was okay, he didn’t need to cry.
His dad stayed sad, even when Nick visited, and a few others did as well. They were kind of loud. Cat didn’t like one of them. He talked very high pitched, it hurt his ears. He liked the one nice lady though. His dad treated her like a sister. Cat hadn’t had a sister of his own, but he’d hoped she’d be as sweet as she was. She gave the best pets.
Cat saw how his dad cried in happy tears when the package came. This one smelled okay, but Cat still wanted it to smell more like him. He butted against it a few times before running to his dad and plopping in his lap. His tummy started to hurt again, he wasn’t eating like he used to. He just wished his dad would be okay without him for a little.
He got to see Dream, he had a face, he wasn’t just a blob. He made his dad really happy.
His dad left for America while he stayed at home. He liked his aunt though, she was extremely sweet.
He laid alone when his tummy hurt too much. He hid under the chairs until his eyes shut.
She was excited. Naomi knew that smell anywhere, she just wanted to be around him again. That was her dad. Well, I guess she has two dads now. Nick, and George.
But George is her original dad. He’s her favorite. When he walked in, she curled up beside him. Hoping he knew it was her. Luca was always here. That she’ll always cheer him on, she’ll always stick around until he no longer needs her.
She butted against him, slept with him. She didn’t like staying trapped in room, mostly running to go stick around him. She loved Nick, don’t get her wrong. But her brother knew to keep Nick happy and safe. He took care of it.
Patches was her new big sister. She was so excited to have a big sister. Patches wasn’t big on Milo in the beginning, she was cautious. But Naomi and her always got along. She’d curl up with Patches all the time. Patches knew who Naomi was. She knew Luca.
Naomi liked hanging around her dad. He had the best laugh, and he never changed his scent. He still smelled the same. The only issue was when he’d go into the door where the water came from the ceiling. It took away the smell of her. She hated it.
She always had to butt her head against him until he smelled back to normal. Giggling at her antics.
This was her home. She’d always be in the front row to cheer him on.
Her number one super star.
