Work Text:

“I’m enjoying today with the wind in my hair!” Sky High sang out as he flew towards the high school. “With the wind in my hair, I’m enjoying today!”

He landed, saluting the students at U.A. High School. “Hello, young heroes in training! It is good to see you and your cheerful faces!”

Only—

Sky High ’s head tilted, noticing one very bright face from a student giving him a very enthusiastic thumbs up while winking at him and sticking his tongue out of the side of his mouth, which made him crack up, and one of the girls with blue hair raised her hand in the air, yelling out a slew of questions regarding his powers and—

Well, everything it seemed.

But one student drew his attention, and he approached, slapping a hand down on the boy ’s shoulder. “It seems…”

The result was a face full of tentacles.

“That didn’t go the way I wanted it to,” Sky High said as the majority of the class laughed, but not the one who’d given him a thumbs up or the girl with all the questions, who instead turned to calm the student he’d frightened off guard. He sighed, feeling as if he were the brunt of the joke. “Sorry about that.”

The student attempted waving his hands, muttering an apology, shaking his head—

Behind his mask, Sky High blinked. “ Oh. Are they laughing at him? ”

And then the student turned his back, going up against a wall and trying to hide.

“So, I kind of forgot what kind of advice I was going to give there, but it did seem like you needed a bit of cheering up!” Sky High said, giving the student a thumbs up.

“That’s just Amajiki,” one of the teachers, the one dressed in black, said. “He’s always like that, but you’re actually making his social anxiety issue worse.”

“Huh? Oh. Sorry?” Sky High rubbed the back of his helmet. “This exchange of ideas is not going as my sponsors planned.”
