Chapter Text
Kim Jongdae (32)moves to Seoul after he gets a job to work with Elle Korea as their fashion photographer. He finds a decent apartment in a residential area and moves in. Within few days, his brother Suho (35) and his son Jongin (5) also shift to Seoul. Suho’s husband, Kyungsoo works in Dubai. Jongin is quite and a well mannered child. Suho is a teacher in Jongin’s school. Their life is busy and runs like a well oiled machine. Suho has only one concern and that is for his brother to get married but Jongdae doesn’t want to. Suho even tries to set up blind dates for him but his efforts go to waste as Jongdae never shows up. After a while, Suho gives up.
Kim Minseok(33) is a widower. He and his son Sehun moved to Seoul after his husband’s death. Minseok works for a well renowned bank as the operations manager. Minseok drops and picks up Sehun from school. That’s how he meets Suho and Jongin. One day as usual when Minseok left Sehun at the school gate, for some reason Sehun wouldn’t let go of his hand and he started to cry. No amount of pacifying worked on him. Minseok was getting late for work.
“Hunnie, Daddy is getting late. I promise when I pick you up I will bring your favorite chocolate.” says exhausted Minseok.
“No Daddy, Hunnie wanna come with you.” cries little Sehun.
“Baby not today. I will take you on Friday.” Minseok tries to pull out his hand but that makes Sehun bawl.
Suho was to do gate duty that day. Teachers take turn to guide the kindergarten class from the gate to the class room. He saw Jongin was playing with his friends. They were always early to school. As soon as they, Suho makes sure Jongin eats his breakfast and then play for some time before the bell rings for class. The kindergarten class doesn’t join the main school for assembly but they have their own inside the class rooms. When Suho nears the main gate, he finds a kid crying his eyes out and the poor father seems flustered. Suho walks right up to them.
“Good morning sir, which section does he belong to?” asks Suho in a friendly and polite manner. He is still two weeks old and did not find time to meet with all the children.
“Good morning. He belongs to Section E.” Minseok feels relieved as soon as the teacher approached him. He looks at the name tag which reads, Kim Suho.
“Ah I will be teaching them Arts this morning.” Suho bends down to reach the boy’s height.
The boy is cute and looks at him curiously. He had stopped crying as soon as he heard Suho’s voice.
“Hi, I am your art teacher and class teacher for Section C. My name is Kim Suho But you can call me teacher Kim.” Suho smiles cutely at the boy. He gives him a his hand.
The boy blinks then offers his hand to shake. “Sehun.” He smiles shyly.
Suho then looks at Minseok and back to Sehun.
“Well Sehun, your father is getting late. Why don’t you say bye to him and let us go to class? See your class mates are waiting for you.” Suho then points to Jongin and his friends. Jongin, bless his soul, comes running to his dad immediately. When he sees Sehun and his father, Jongin knows what to do. He puts a hand around the little boy.
“Hi I am Kim Jongin. Want to join me?”
“Sehun. Yes.” Sehun smiles shyly at Jongin.
“Okay Sehun say bye to your Dad.” says Suho.
“Bye Daddy.” Sehun then turns around and runs along with Jongin to play.
Minseok sighs softly. If Suho hadn’t happen to come, he would have to take Sehun along to his bank today.
“Thank you Suhossi.” He thanks him gratefully.
“It’s my duty sir.”
“Please call me Minseok.”
“Okay Minseokssi, will you come to pick up Sehun today?” asks Suho.
“Not today. Wednesdays he goes to the daycare because I work overtime at the bank. So the daycare van will pick him up. His in charge Miss.Hyeri will come.”
“Oh which bank?”
“Hana bank, Gangnam branch.”
“Nice. I have an account there.” says Suho.
“Great. You should drop by next time you visit the branch.” Minseok hands him his business card.
“Sure I will.”
“Thank you for today.” Minseok leaves.
When Jongdae reaches his office, his Team lead Yixing asks him whether he has given his bank details to HR so that his salary credited properly.
“I closed my bank account. I thought they will open a new account for me here.” says Jongdae.
“Yes they will but you need to visit the main branch and activate your account after completing few formalities.” Yixing gives him a business card then.
“Meet Minseok. He was the one who helped me initially. He is efficient and helpful.”
“Thanks hyung.”
“No problem. You can go today as they work till 7pm on Wednesdays”
“Sure I will.”
Jongdae leaves work at 5. He reaches the Hana bank by 6 due to heavy traffic. At the customer care desk, he tells the clerk that he needs to meet Kim Minseok for opening his new account. The clerk calls Minseok and briefly informs him.
“Sir, you can meet him at counter 5 on your left. He will operate your account. Do you have your ID and employment proof?”
“Yes. Here.” Jongdae shows him both. The clerk checks them out and shows him the direction to counter 5. Jongdae thanks him and walks towards counter 5. When he reaches the counter, he sees the man in charge busy working on his laptop so he patiently waits for him to look up. After 10 minutes, Minseok sees him and smiles.
“Sorry sir, are you waiting for long? I am expecting a customer. Maybe you try the next counter?”
“I think I am the one whom you are waiting for.” says Jongdae.
“Excuse me?”
“The clerk at customer care called you.”
“Ah, you are from Elle magazine is it?” asks Minseok.
“Yes. Zhang Yixing’s referral.”
“Oh please come and have a seat. Let me check your paperwork.” Minseok quickly opens the appropriate tab while Jongdae takes his seat in front of his counter.
Minseok looks at him after 5 minutes. “Sir, could I have your employee details please?”
“Here. You can check from my ID.” Jongdae hands over his ID. Minseok takes it and verifies. Then he asks for his ID card. After few more minutes, he hands Jongdae back his cards.
“Sir everything is set. Here is your account details and your bank cards with your credit card. If you have any questions you can always reach out to me.” Minseok gives him the bank package along with his business card.
“Thank you. Have a good evening.” Jongdae then leaves the counter. He goes straight to the ATM machine to check whether the card is working. It does. Jongdae turns around to find Minseok looking at him. He waves at him and leaves to indicate that the card is working. Minseok waves back.
