Chapter Text
A family of 6 are singing along to the radio and the rain pours outside. As they cross the 4-way stop, their light being green, a semi-truck hits the side of the car, flipping it 10-times then sliding for another 10 metres.
A girl sits up in her bed, soaked in sweat and breathing deeply. She grabbed her phone to look at the time. 6:00 am. Close enough to her 6:30 alarm, she decides to not go back to bed. Looking at her lockscreen again, she smiles looking at the background photo. She remembers the day clearly, the first day she met some of her best friends - even though they are 11-years older than her and actually her older brother’s friends, they are the only people she could call her friends. She decides to scroll through the clock app for 30 minutes then start her day. Only one more month until summer vacation, I can do this , she thinks to herself.
Begrudgingly, she sits up, rubs her face, and gets out of bed. She walks to the bathroom attached to her room and starts the shower. As she waits for the water to warm up, she looks in the mirror. Sighing as she sees bags under her eyes, dark as night. Undressing, she steps into the shower, starting her usual shower routine. After 30 minutes, she turns off the shower and steps out, wrapping a towel around herself. Wiping the fog from the mirror, she truly looks at herself. Pale as snow, no matter how hard she tries to tan, and light brown freckles decorating every inch of her body. Looking at her hair she sighs, her 3A-ginger hair that reaches to below her shoulder blades, a mess on top of her head. Putting her normal hair product in her hair, she grabs her hair-drying brush and starts tackling the mess. It takes her about 45-minutes to finish the drying process then she starts straightening her hair till it reaches about mid-back. Once she finally finishes she starts her face routine, by the end, her freckles and eyebags are gone, covered in light makeup. Sighing, she heads back into her room grabbing her long-acting insulin pen and taking her normal dose, then she grabs her short-acting insulin, turning the dial to the proper dosage and taking it as well. Then, walking over to her TV stand, grabbing her hearing aids and putting them in. Finally, heading to her closet she grabs a pair of jeans and a hoodie, quickly putting them on and running downstairs.
In the kitchen is the house maid who has been there longer than she has. She was a middle-height, middle-aged woman with grey-brown hair and bright blue eyes. The teen has many fond memories of the maid, and adores her dearly. Waltzing into the kitchen the teen kisses the maid on the cheek, back-hugging her at the same time.
“Good morning Jessica,” she says in a sleepy, but sing-song voice.
“Good morning Sam”, Jessica replies, handing Sam her normal bowl of cereal and milk, pre-portioned the same everyday. Sam takes it to the table where a Spanish-couple is sitting. The man leaning back in the chair, reading the newspaper as he munches on his toast. The woman eating a yogurt parfait, a plate covered in crumbs next to her. Sam walks over, putting her bowl down, kissing the woman on the cheek.
“Buenos días Tía Divina, Tío Fidel,” the teen says with a semi-smile.
“Buenos días princesa,” the woman replies as the man nods his head in acknowledgement. “A letter arrived in the mail for you this morning,” she says, handing the teen said letter. Sam opens the letter, looking at the contents.

Sam grinned when she finished reading the letter. Even against the warnings of her brother and his friends, she decided to apply for an intern position on the show. She could never tell them, knowing they would flip out once they found out she signed away her life to the devil that is Chris McLean.
“What has made you so happy?” the man across from her said with a heavy Spanish accent.
“I got accepted as an intern on the reboot for Total Drama Island,” the teen replied.
“The show Aléjandro lost both times?” he questions, gruffly.
“Sí, that one,” she replied. He just nods as she grabs her backpack and heads towards the door, putting the manila envelope containing the contract onto the fireplace mantle as she walks past.
“I’m leaving, have a good day tia and tio,” she yells out as she walks out the door, heading towards her own personal hell - school.
