They sat by the fire in silence. They have just made it to the frozen north. And god knows why they call it the frozen north. She was freezing, luckily Callum gave his special scarf for her to wear. Which brought back so many memories before she left…
Why did she leave? She didn’t find anything? Why did she ruin something so perfect? Someone so perfect? The only person she had left. Everyone she loved was gone, only Callum was there now. But he’s changed so much, all because of decision she made.
All the thoughts in her head stopped when Stella jumped into her mamas lap.
“Hi my baby.” She said as she cuddled her little cuddle monkey. “Was Callum not fun enough for you?”
Callum laughed.
Gods he was so perfect. His smile is everything to her.
“I guess I’m just not as fun as mama am I Stella?” Callum crossed his arms.
A little later, when Sneezles and Stella were fast asleep. It was just her and Callum in sleeping bags.
She looked over to see Callum looking at the stars and sketching them. Like he did when they went to Lux Aurea.
“Isn’t it beautiful Rayla? The northern lights! My mom would always tell me about them when I was little. And now I finally get to see them!” He was obviously excited.
Rayla smiled at him. “They really are special..”
She took a deep breath. She missed seeing him excited about the smallest things.
His smile immediately faded when he saw her looking obviously upset.
“Rayla? Are you okay??”
She snapped out of her deep thoughts.
“Oh me? I’m fine! How are you?”
Callum sighed. “Rayla, you’re crying.”
Was she? She had no idea. Until she felt tears drip down her skin.
“Shit, sorry.” She quickly wiped them away.
“Rayla, it’s okay to cry. I know you were raised to not show your emotions. But I promise you can express yourself around me.” He scooted closer to her.
She lost it. She started to let out ugly sobs and sniffs.
“Oh come here.” He took her into his arms.
She put her head into his shoulders. Probably making his shoulders more wet than they already were.
“Let it out Rayla. I’m here.” He said soothingly.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” she sobbed.
“About what? I told you it’s okay to cry-“
“That I left you! I’m sorry I ruined what we had! You’re the only person I have left! I can’t lose you! I want you to be safe!”
He stopped. Thinking back to the letter she gave him before she left.
He held her tighter.
“Rayla… you’re back now. That’s all that matters.” He said.
“No no. You should be mad at me! Say you hate me! Say I’m a failure!” She sobbed even louder now.
“Rayla, stop I should be the one apologizing. I treated you like shit when you first came back-“
“You had every right to.” She yelled
“No I didn’t!! I love you too much to stay mad at you.” They pulled away breathing after yelling.
“What? You still love me?” She sniffed.
“Of course I do! I never stopped Rayla! I never stopped fucking loving you.” He was crying now to.
Sneezles lazily opened an eye. Obviously frightened by the yelling and crying.
“Oh sorry buddy. Go back to sleep it’s okay.” Callum said petting the little glow tad.
Sneezles went out a little sneeze then went right back to bed.
Rayla was speechless. How the hell could he still love her after all what happened?
Callum immediately realizes what he said leaving his face red.
“Oh shit, sorry I didn’t mean-“
He was cut off by her kissing him. They pulled away for a second and he immediately pulled her back, into a deep kiss. A very deep kiss.
After a while they pulled apart out of breath.
“Gods I missed that.” She said.
“I love you Rayla. So so so much.”
“I love you too Callum.” She replied
They then got into another deep kiss as a shooting star shot through the sky.
