Work Text:

It was quiet at night in Yokohama, the stars dimly lit up the city. The scenery was beautiful for Dazai, whenever he was on the rooftop of a building near the mountains. He'd go there whenever work would get too stressful or when he'd just want some peace. The abandoned building was full of dust and mystery as Dazai climbed the ladder to the top. A loud sound echoed throughout the halls as he opened the metal door that led to the rooftop. He stepped outside, and the door abruptly shut behind as he walked to the fence. As he neared the end of the rooftop he spotted a dark figure staring at the city, their back turned towards him. Dazai stood still for a second, trying to see who it was.

"Won't you come?" A thick Russian accent rang in Dazai's ears. Dazai's face softened as he went beside the man.

"Were you waiting for me?" Dazai purred, sweetly giggling at Fyodor. Fyodor turned to Dazai and was met with his smile.

"mmm, you can decide" Fyodor replied in a playful tone, turning back to the scenery. He flinched when he felt Dazai's head rest on his shoulder as he looked down at Yokohama.

"Its especially pretty tonight" Dazai gazed, "Maybe it's because you are here" he stared up at Fyodor, who kept his stern face despite a rosy blush appearing on his ears. Dazai giggled at the sight.

"I heard that there would be shooting stars tonight" Fyodor informed him "Come, let's sit".

Dazai followed the man to another corner of the rooftop. On the floor, you could see a blanket, a basket of strawberries, and some sugar.

"Wow Fyodor~ I never knew you were such a romantic!" Dazai pressed a kiss on Fyodor's cheek, and then sat down on the blanket, patting a place next to him for Fyodor to sit. The other man simply smiled at his excitement.

"Oh my god! You remembered that I liked strawberries with sugar!!! Fyodor, you are just a sweetie" Dazai ate a strawberry as he threw himself in Fyodor's arms. "Thank you" he said with a full mouth.

Fyodor looked away in embarrassment for a second. He was surprised that he even did something like this.

"Its nothing", Fyodor ruffled Dazai's hair before he pointed at the sky, "look, a shooting star, make a wish Osamu"

Both of them stared at the stars in awe as they silently made a wish.

"What did you wish Osamu" Fyodor held Dazai beside him as the other one ate.

"I wished that this moment could last forever" Dazai smiled at Fyodor, "What about you?"

Fyodor took a breath, "I wished for us to stay together forever", he painfully smiled.

"You know that's not going to happen, so you wasted your wish" Dazai frowned at him.

"Why not?"

Dazai turned to see the stars again and said nothing.

"I see" Fyodor replied as he embraced Dazai, and held him closer than ever.

The rest of the night was quieter. They would occasionally say something, however, they spent most of the time holding each other and staring at the stars and the city.

Hours passed and the time was 11:30.

"Let's meet again Osamu" Fyodor stood up to leave the rooftop, "maybe in another universe where we could be on the same side".

"We won't be able to," Dazai said, as he too stood up.

"Why do you say that" Fyodor asked as he slowly started opening the door to go inside.

"I've died in all the other universes,"  Dazai said, and Fyodor paused his movement. He turned to see Dazai next to the fence, staring back at him.

"Ill find one where you live" Fyodor smiled as he turned around to leave.

"Okay, Ill be waiting" Dazai smiled back at him before turning around to look to the city again.

The door shut behind Fyodor and Dazai was left alone on the balcony.
