This is a first and new series of mine

Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

It was eventually unavoidable, trying to hide from the letters of sending the men to war. War is stupid, it's just a cruel way of seeing how many killings one power of land could take from another. But then again peace was never an option in this world. The mail flap shuffled as a white envelope stuck it's neck through the bristles of the flap. I place down my cup of tea down onto the coaster and get up to take it, I ripped the top off and started to read the letter, each line descended down into horror as my heart started to pound harder against my chest painfully. I prayed everyday that this would never turn up to our door. But it seems mercy never heard me.

Boothill walked out of the kitchen door stopping in his tracks noticing me, tears sliding down my cheek. The paper in my hand shook uncontrollably, it was getting hard to breathe, my vision of him became blurry and dizzy with the tears and the banging headache that had come along. His hands curved over mine as his expression was confused yet concerned. It was obvious that the news I had received was not the happiest. Rather it was ending it.

"Whats wrong?" His low voice struck me out of my trance. I couldn't bring myself to say it to him. But I had to.
"They....They want you to join the war, and....there's no choice. They're taking all men from everywhere." I stop in my tracks as the tears started to drop onto the letter like crystal rain.

Boothill went silent, his warm hands holding onto mine giving it a tight squeeze. The room was silent with only the heavy breathing from the utter despair that had finally layed down like mist in my atmosphere. Clouding my vision. I felt dizzy, I couldn't handle it.

I look up at him and he's smiling, but not with joy, no- it was a smile of reassurance and acceptance of this situation that had just been thrown into our path of fate. How... How could this man be smiling. How could he have accepted this so quickly and so well? Why was I crying like this? I'm not the one to go to war. Its him. So why was I the one to be crying as if it was me going to war.

Because that's exactly what it was. He was the second piece to my soul, the second part of my soul that I can't live without. My yin to his yang, and we were going to be torn apart from the cruel fate of this reality that we couldn't escape.

No...I wasn't going to accept this and I never will.

~A month later~

The loud whistle of the steam train came running closer and closer.

1,2,1,2

That's what the sound of the train was like as it ran on the rails.

1,2,1,2

It's far but it was coming slowly but surely, time was ticking out.

I squeeze Boothills hand tight not wanting to let go, taking in every bit of his skin against mine, how his hand was big and warm against my small cold hands that trembled with pain. I could feel his pain too, fear as well. Both of us taking in each others emotions.

I take one last look of him, his gorgeous long locks of white with those black tips, his defined jawline that complimented his snow face. Oh and his eyes, those gorgeous grey eyes that would smile at me like two pretty diamonds, the glint of white highlight within them was like the gem of his soul. It completed him, without it he would be robbed of his precious identity. I could stare into them forever and never get bored. Looking at him was like the calm in the middle of a storm, grey clouds and humid electricity that pricked the hairs of my skin, heavy spits of rain upon me like a shower of tranquility. A soft breeze that carried a strong sense of protection and mysterious essence. Yet somehow brought comfort. He was my comfort. My home, my everything and that was going to be taken away from me.

The train came squealing along the tracks to our platform. Around us were the same, families, partners, friends ready to say goodbye to someone who was a son, a brother, a comrade. No one else mattered but him. In that moment he brushes a hair out of my face and cups my face as tears start to build up. But I dare not let them fall. He smiled again as he started to pile up words spilling them out to me, like a poem being spoken. Each word being kept as a memory in my heart, I would dare not forget a single bit. His voice was breaking glass and so was my heart.

I couldn't bare seeing him go like this, with the fear that...he may never.....

My thoughts were cut off as he brings me up into a kiss, it was desperate and meaningful. Our eyes closed taking in as much as we could of each other. The last taste of his honey lips against mine, soft and moist. I could feel his tears run down onto my cheeks like a raindrop on a leaf. His lip quivered as it finally broke off mine. My heart banged against my chest reaching for his in a desperate scream that just couldn't be heard.

"I love you Boothill..."
Was all I could muster up from my shaking. I hug him tightly as much as I could.

"I love you too sweet pea." His voice was low and painful. Like a needle into my veins. There was a shout from a man in the train urging for all the men to go aboard. It was time. The time I dreaded.

As he stepped up onto the train he blew me a kiss, I blew one back. He was smiling and crying, it was horrible. But I mustered up all I could to smile back in promise. So many people were crying and pushing begging for mercy, it was scary to think that some of the people on the train may never come back again, the possibility that my sweet soul mate may never return hit my head like hammer over and over again.

The final whistle blew and the trains started to turn its mechanical wheels. I started to run as fast as I could on the platform till the edge. I shouted one last "I love you" to him, I collapsed to the floor by the very end of the platform with a scream of agony as the steam train railed away to the land of war.
