Chapter Text
Kingdom of Italy squinted in the darkness. Around him, he could see many men in black shirts, jeering at him.
“What… what do you want?”
Before he could even process what was going on, his head was pushed sideways, and his cheek stung.
A short bald man stood in front of him, emanating a menacing aura.
Enraged, Italy pulled against the pole he was tied to, but the chains around his wrist restrained him.
The black-shirts, as Italy dubbed them, burst into laughter, punctuated a shout of “Look at him!”
The man in front of him raised his left fist, and the black-shirts quieted down immediately.
He smirked at Italy. “I am taking over you, whether you like it or not.”
‘What? What does he mean?’
“Who are you?”
“Well normally, I wouldn’t waste time on things like you, but I’m feeling generous today.”
“Benito Mussolini.”
Kingdom of Italy’s eyes widened. That was the name of the revolutionary who was trying to rule him!
“Ne-never! I won’t fall to someone like y-“
“Smack!”
Italy stares in shock at the side of the room. His left cheek, which had reduced to a dull throbbing, was overshadowed by his other cheek, bright red and raw.
“Fine,” Mussolini said, drawing a silver knife out of his pocket. “I’ll do it the hard way.”
Kingdom of Italy registered the edge of a cold hard metal pressed against his throat.
“O-over my cold de-dead bo-“
He flinched as a metallic taste coated the back of his mouth. A dark red liquid started dripped onto his clothes. Italy’s eyes felt heavy. He wanted to sleep.
“N-no… I can’t sleep n-now…”
But he was so cold… surely a small nap would be fine… right?
His eyelids drooped.
A familiar voice snarled at him. “Just die already!”
Ah. Italy had forgotten about Mussolini. He couldn’t die yet, that was exactly what Mussolini wanted.
But he was so tired…
Drawing a final breath, Kingdom of Italy drifted off into darkness.
