Work Text:
It was another morning in Mondstadt. Windmills turned, catching the wind with their blades, birds chirped to the annoyance of the stray cat population, and Mika Schmidt was helped down the Knights of Favonius flagpole by his adventurous friend Bennett.
As much as he’d tried to give Bennett a name, an epithet, or with a bit of brown-nosing, a rank in the knights for all he’d done, Bennett would always turn it down with a chuckle,
“It’s what anyone would do!” he’d say.
And Mika would lean on him back to his home, Bennett would run him a bath, then they could start the day’s commissions (and tasks! He had chores to do with the knights!).
Late in the day, after finding a chest (empty), and a hilichurl camp (full!), Bennett would take his mora from the commissions and buy them a whole boar from Good Hunter (Mika never commented how flat Bennett’s mora pouch was). They’d get a table away from the main street and build each other up as the meal went on.
“You’ve got a radiant personality.” Mika would say, after a few swigs from Bennett's borrowed (stolen) flask.
“You’ve got a shapely ass.” Bennett would say (he always said, and every time Mika would feel his cheeks redden – well, not THOSE cheeks).
And Bennett would ask if they could share a bed tonight, and Mika would turn him down without hesitation.
Somehow Mika Schmidt always knew when he would sleep on the flagpole. Still, the days were so lively since he came back to Mondstadt. He’d suffer at the flagpole, in order to see Bennett in the morning.
