Hinata always knew he can count on Nishinoya, since the start of their friendship, both of them had nothing but respect for each other. Nowadays, it’s more of an appreciative feeling rather than respectful, even though they still maintain that feeling.
After training together for roughly six months, they’ve improved a lot, however, that did not mean they still aren’t looking for improvement.
That feeling of wanting to improve more and more led Hinata to ask Nishinoya for some extra receive practice, since he has learned some new techniques after the Special Training outside of Karasuno.
Hinata wants to perfect them, he wants to be able to cover his team up even when Nishinoya is out of the court. Even though it was unexpected for him to ask that out of the blue, Nishinoya didn’t feel surprised, he rather felt incredibly excited to help his teammate.
— Learning how to predict where the other spiker’s attack will land is essential, but, you still have to look out for feints and blocked spikes. — the almond says, looking to their practice room’s net. — So I would like for us to train that right after your serve receive practice. — he concludes.
— Understood! Nishinoya-san you’re the best! — the ginger exclaims, he was really excited to practice, and, most of all, to impress everybody with his new and improved receives, specially Tsukishima and Kageyama.
— Of course, Shoyo! Let your favorite libero guide you through the world of receives! — Nishinoya speaks loudly, pointing at himself like he’s some sort of celebrity.

— Nice receive, Shoyo! — Nishinoya screams, after Hinata covered yet another feint from Ennoshita, who was dragged into their extra training session.
— You did incredible! — the almond affirms, as he gives a little kiss on the ginger’s cheek. The kiss was really nothing to blast feelings about, it is weirdly natural between both of them to share hugs, forehead kisses and cheek kisses.
— Thank you, Noya-san! — Hinata responds. No extra feelings are sparked. It is just the way their friendship works. And, if we are going to talk about romantic feelings, the first-year is way more interested in two other people already.
— If you keep this up, you’ll end up taking my role as a receiver! I won’t lose! — Nishinoya says, setting a friendly rivalry amongst them. Hinata’s eyes sparkle at the statement.
— I won’t lose either! — the ginger responds, shaking hands with his newly formed rival right after.
