Chapter Text
'Are you fucking kidding me?' is the first thing Taehyung could muster up in his head as he stands outside with his cat's carrier, waiting for the cat to be placed behind his car seat. Their car is stuffed with practically all of their shit (they lived in a one floor apartment with one bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom so they could fit practically all of their shit in the car, mostly because his dad is a master packer who had helped).
Taehyung didn't want to move and his mom knew he didn't. He was leaving his hometown, his friends, his dad who he barely even got to see in the first place, and even his school that he used to hate (he doesn't hate it anymore, that's a fact). Daegu was his hometown and now he had to say goodbye to it.
They're moving for a reason Taehyung that pissed him off more than anything. All he could do is watch as his cat was placed behind his car seat and he let himself into the car. Of course his mother was excited.
She wasn't the one who was getting their life ruined.
Taehyung didn't talk to his mom for the majority of the ride though after two hours of meowing from his cat, Kkanji, he had to let her out of the cage. She walked around the car like the annoyance she is but Taehyung made sure to keep her on his side of the vehicle. She eventually fell asleep on his pillow a few hours later which Taehyung was grateful for. There's only so much meowing someone could take.
The past two weeks had been hell for Taehyung. He was never good at hiding things from his mother or maybe it was just that she was good at sensing when Taehyung wasn't in a good mood. Taehyung has known about the move for awhile, he replied with a simple 'whatever', when his mom asked him about the move.
Taehyung was accused of starving himself in order to cancel the move which wasn't true at all, he just didn't want to eat. No one understood that he eats when he wants, even if it's only once at eight at night.
After being in a car for a few hours, Taehyung's mood became even more pissy as they got closer to their destination. He wasn't listening to his mother as she boasted about something he could give a rat's ass about and continued listening to his music, petting Kkanji while he was at it.
Of course the first thing she had to drive by was the fucking hellhole he was being forced to attend for his last year. He wanted to slit his own throat right there and then. Wanted to tell her to shut up.
But per usual, he said nothing.
After seeing the disgusting thing they call a school, his mother drove to her boyfriend's house so they could unpack the shit. Taehyung was going to stay in a hotel for a few days because their temporary house wasn't open to them yet.
The first day of being in the hotel, he was alone for the most part. He didn't want to be near that fucker his mother called a boyfriend. The second day, his mother hauled him out of the hotel so that he could meet two rodents that she called children.
Taehyung used to like children. Now, he'd rather whack them in the head with a fucking pillow (because Taehyung wouldn't actually punch them, even if he wanted to).
The kids were annoying as fuck and Taehyung had a great reason to hate them. The way they constantly said his name, always stared at him, would sometimes stare at his computer screen in the hotel (so much for any kind of privacy) or the way they would scream for no fucking reason.
It's been only two days and Taehyung wanted to hang himself and call it quits.
On the third day, since they had to stay in a hotel for four days (and coincidentally, the hotel was the name of his street from his old road which made him want to leave even more), he was dragged to the mall (which is apparently the biggest mall in the country but Taehyung didn't really give a shit) and got his hair dyed dark brown.
He was thankful when they dropped him off at the hotel while he mentally told them to fuck off. Moving here was the biggest turning point in his life. He was sick of switching schools, he just wanted to be settled down for once in his damn life.
On the fourth day, they apparently were allowed to go to the house since they finished it earlier than planned and Taehyung carried Kkanji out to the car, placing the furball on his lap while waiting for his mom to check out. The house was one floor, much bigger than where he used to live though, there were three bedrooms, two bathrooms, an office area, a living room, a kitchen, and the garage beneath his room.
Lucky him, he got the one room in the house that didn't get much heat or air conditioning. He eventually got sick of his mother's boyfriend staying here like it was his house but in the end, he got kicked out of his old house by his now ex-wife.
Taehyung didn't blame her especially since her ex-husband now had another girlfriend.
Now, Taehyung was the one that wanted to kick his ass out. He had fucking more money than Taehyung's family so he didn't have to invade his own fucking home. Asshole.
When everything in his room was set up, he refused to leave for the rest of the summer. He didn't care about exploring the damn area, he just wanted to go the fuck home. "This is your home now," his mother would say. Taehyung had to bite his own tongue to refrain from sending her a bitchy remark.
Taehyung's friends never talked to him again after he left school. All he had were the few internet friends he had made from roleplaying on the all-shitty Facebook. He eventually lost all of those friends beside Subin, who noticed the change in his attitude, and Way. While talking on Kakao one day, she sent him a reply saying: "That move has really changed your attitude, you seem more angry. I wish you could move back. :\"
Subin was also going through a hard time with family and Taehyung was always there to listen to her rants and vise versa. Though, when she became busier with her life, they talked less.
Taehyung also met Way. She was a pretty funny person and they shared some hilarious moments together, she was younger than him by almost four years but they shared many of the same interests. They talked occasionally on Kakao but it wasn't an everyday thing.
When he thought it couldn't get any worse, he started school three weeks after moving. The people were a lot more annoying and stupid than the ones back home and Taehyung was again tempted to slit his own throat. He made no friends, the one person he somewhat talked to ended up transferring out, and he was angry at the world.
What really pissed him off was that they removed some of his credits from classes he worked his ass off to pass, made him take a class full of idiotic first years because they made it a requirement whereas his old school didn't require it and had the nerve to change his schedule and fuck it up for the second semester without telling him.
Taehyung got into constant arguments with his mother, she insulted him and said he was going to end up in prison like his father did years ago which made Taehyung ignore her for two full weeks.
As much as he didn't want to admit it, he cried more than usual. He didn't know if it was the stress, the arguments, or possibly the depression but he did.
In another argument weeks after, he said that the school made him want to slit his own throat, making his mother threaten to call the police and the school. Despite telling her to do it, she never did.
You could say that Taehyung wasn't happy with his own life.
Around September 9, a few days after him threatening to run away, his mother put a tracker on his phone so that she could locate him. The phone company ended up notifying him and that filled him with rage. He never told his mother he knew.
In his Creative Productions class, he met a first year who had similar interests to him. They only talked during that class but he was alright with it since he wasn't interested in getting legitimate friends (especially with a first year). Near the end of October, she asked him to come to an amusement park with her and some guy he didn't know. He tried making excuses to avoid it but eventually texted his mother, asking for permission since he ran out of excuses. She was happy to say yes (most likely because this was the first time he was leaving the house, minus leaving for school) and he went with them that Friday.
Taehyung came to realize that it was the biggest mistake of his life besides moving. The girl, Halla, was a chicken shit who refused to go on anything and the boy, Hyuk (who was also a first year) went on a few rides with him.
To add onto Taehyung's luck, it was cold as hell outside and even started snowing for a few minutes. By the end of the night, he caught a complete cold (that lasted for two weeks) and became a third wheel.
After that, Taehyung stopped talking to Halla and would ignore her everytime she spoke to him. After a stunt like that, Taehyung had zero interest in her as a person.
Nothing but anger, sadness, and suicidal thoughts came in November. He ignored almost everyone minus his feline friend that he knew would always be there for him until she died.
It was December that triggered something in Taehyung that shouldn't have been triggered. His birthday is in December and they always celebrated it earlier than it was because of the whole Christmas shit they did. For once, Taehyung didn't care about celebrating or presents, he just wanted to sleep.
While trying to sleep, his mother came in and forced him to get out of bed so they could go to a Japanese place to eat and 'celebrate'. Taehyung tried to get himself out of it and ended up getting a pissed off tone from his mother. He grabbed his headphones and phone and put them into his ear while in the car. That's when his mother brought up him being depressed in the car. He didn't say anything and let her talk, rolling his eyes in the end.
What he didn't know is that Jung, his mother's boyfriend, and his two rats would be joining them. He wanted to go home and shut the door in all of their faces. Taehyung officially decided to never celebrate his shitday again after this.
His mother even forced him to open the presents in the living room when he just wanted to fucking sleep. Grumpily, he opened them, said nothing, and retreated to his room.
Taehyung told Subin that he hated what he got because it reminded him of Daegu. Subin told him that they should return the shit because of how it made him feel but per usual, Taehyung kept quiet.
Not only did he have his birthday ruined, but Christmas too. Christmas is known as a happy time but all Taehyung got out of it was misery. He, again, was forced to go to Jung's family's house and Taehyung would have flipped him off if he could. Taehyung stood close to the door most of the time, paying attention to his phone only while talking to Subin, who tried to soothe him in the current situation.
He again, was forced to open presents there when he obviously wanted nothing to do with these people. He didn't care if they were nice people, he would much prefer if they would get out of his fucking life. After being forced into the living room, he went back to his spot near the door and sat on the steps, covering his face with most of his hair and his sleeve. He didn't want anyone to see him trying not to cry.
To make it even better, his ear started bleeding and he got his fingers covered in his own blood. All he could do was stare at his fingers, not caring about the situation. He didn't wash his hands until he got home, when everyone was asleep.
Taehyung stayed up late, letting his tears stream down his face. He didn't care since no one was there to see him and he was used to crying by now.
In the beginning of January, he met Jimin online. He was pretty random and always had something weird to say. Taehyung and Jimin became pretty close friends after that. He also met a few other people and actually felt like he had friends for once.
But nothing is bound to last forever.
Taehyung started ignoring everyone besides Subin. People still tried to talk to him on Facebook in his roleplay but he brushed them off because he could care less. He knew he was losing friends but he felt like he deserved it for being such an awful person to them.
His attitude was the main problem and as long as he lived the way he did, he knew he would always be a more pissed off person. The way he blew up at everyone even if they simply said "Hi," or "How are you doing?"
He regained himself eventually and slowly started talking to people again but it ended just as quickly as it started. His mood became pissy and he wanted to always be alone.
Taehyung never talked to a few of those people again.
Since someone he knew created a huge mess in the roleplay he was in, he ended up meeting Eunha who he now calls 'Dingo'. He stuck around her mostly and trusted her with his secrets, ranted at her freely and well, she always listened.
Though one day, when Taehyung thought the arguing between him and his mother was over, she came into his room while he was playing World of Warcraft and talking to his friend that he's known for over 5 years (they didn't talk often since he was several years older and had a job), she began arguing with him about his shitty grades. He told his friend he would be back unless something happened.
He never came back.
Taehyung hated showing weakness and he did by crying in front of his mother. His mother realized, after half of a year, that Taehyung wasn't happy. She said she'd send him to his father (but he isn't responsible) and Taehyung could only tell her to go away.
It took her awhile for her to actually piss off but when she did, Taehyung just wanted to stab himself but he knew he wouldn't do that either.
He tried to look for ways out, any way out of that school, a way to just be by himself.
And he found one when a girl, who he sat next to, named Jiae told him about online high school. Taehyung wasted his time doing research on the damn thing, only to get a fatass 'N.O' in the end.
Wonshik and Ki (Jung's rats A.K.A children) were starting to piss him off beyond his own limit. They started letting themselves into his room and started touching his stuff. He couldn't even say anything about it because his mother would defend them if he told them to get the fuck out of his room.
It was always them and Taehyung was about to fucking throw them off of a roof.
They trashed his bathroom, scared the hell out of his cat (who he found cowering in the bathtub located in his mom's bedroom), didn't use their indoor voices and so many other things that Taehyung has lost track.
His mother got pissed at him once for saying that he hated children, especially her boyfriend's.
Taehyung wants to remind her of how she said that his aunt had 'chose her husband's family over theirs', so she could bite her own ass. It pissed him off that she was doing the exact same thing that she criticized her sister for. Overall, Taehyung always looked droopy and tired. His mom and her boyfriend were throwing a party in the house for Wonshik (or was it Ki? Taehyung didn't know nor care) and decided to actually leave the house before anyone noticed.
There was a small cafe that he wanted to go to so that he could hopefully relax for once and forget about his miserable life. It wasn't packed when he arrived, thankfully, and he ended up ordering a hot chocolate because really, who doesn't like hot chocolate?
Taehyung sat there, staring blankly at his phone while listening to music. It irritated him that he always broke one side of his headphones.
When a group of annoying teenage girls came in, he immediately left because they were loud as all hell. He decided to go to the park because nice scenery was his forte, even if he hated leaving his own house. Thankfully, it wasn't much of winter anymore but it was still pretty chilly out.
He decided to sit on a bench, flinching a bit when he felt cold consuming his ass practically, but nonetheless just sat there while staring at the ground.
He wasn't expecting many people to be out nor was he expecting to have his picture taken by a complete stranger. Taehyung stared at the man that now stood near him.
"I'm not a creep who takes pictures of random strangers I promise, I just needed a good shot for photography class and well, you looked like a model for a second there." Taehyung could only stare. The man wasn't too bad looking and his blonde hair made him look pretty attractive. "Would have asked but the moment was too precious to avoid."
Raising an eyebrow, Taehyung could only shrug a bit. He didn't really care much since it was just a picture and Taehyung was positive that his hair covered most of his eyes anyways.
He figured the man would leave since he got what he wanted but he didn't, he kind of just stared at Taehyung like he was trying to read him. "You got what you wanted so why are you still here?" Taehyung didn't mean to come off as mean but he was just not in the mood.
"I haven't gotten what I wanted though," he smoothly replies, still eyeing Taehyung.
"You got the photograph, isn't that what you needed?"
The man chuckled and sat himself next to Taehyung. "I haven't gotten the name of the nice looking man in the photo."
Real smooth. Sighing, he decided he had nothing to lose in telling the guy his name. "Taehyung."
He repeated Taehyung's name, and it sounded pretty nice coming from his mouth, before nodding and staring at the camera in his hands. "I'm Yoongi." Taehyung didn't say much afterwards and neither did Yoongi. Eventually, Yoongi took a piece of paper and a pen out from his pocket and scribbled his number and Kakao ID onto the paper, handing it to Taehyung. "Listen, I have to go process these pictures for class since they're due Monday and I don't want to do shit tomorrow but you interest me so, here. Contact me tomorrow or something."
Taehyung eyed the paper but nodded, watching Yoongi run off. "I interest him?" Taehyung said outloud to no one in particular. He shook his head and shoved the paper into his pocket and got up, heading for home. He figured the party would be over by now.
The words 'you interest me' still stuck in his brain, making him wonder if Yoongi was just sweet talking him.
Probably.
