Work Text:
Being an up-and-coming actress in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was more nerve racking than it was working on any of your past movies. Being able to say you were in a movie with amazing actors like Kevin Bacon, James McAvoy, and Oliver Platt. That will forever be the highlight of your career. You just knew it.
You smiled at the thought of your future self winning an Oscar for your groundbreaking role in the movie. However, you were soon cut from your daydream by the calling of your name and two hands climbing up your shoulders. "Hi Slugger. What's going on?"
You let out a sigh when you realize who it is. "Jennifer," you said, holding your hand against your chest. "You scared the crap out of me."
She let out a small chuckle. "You were daydreaming. Is everything alright?" Jennifer was always looking out for you. Ever since you two met at the first table read for the movie, she had taken a liking to you. Even everyone else noticed how you two immediately clicked.
"Uh, yeah. Just thinking about the big scene." She looked you up and down for a better sense of your body language. She knew since the start of filming that you were nervous about your Marvel debut, and she also knew not to bring it up, in hopes that you wouldn't become even more anxious about it.
"Don't worry, Y/N/N. You're going to be great. I know it. They wouldn't have hired you if you weren't. Even Stan himself said that you were made for the part. Not everyone can say that in this business."
You took a moment to calm yourself from your nerves, let out a deep breath, and looked up at Jen. "Thank you. I really appreciate it, Jen. You have no idea how much of a help you are."
She smiles as she leans in for a side hug. "No problem, sunshine. Anything for you."
"Y/L/N. Lawrence. Marks 3 and 4. Let's take it from the top, people!" You follow the director's orders and go to your respective marks for the scene. Before starting, you both smile and whisper, "Good luck". It's been sort of a tradition for you two to wish each other good luck before either of you had a scene to complete.

*Three Hours Later*
"Scene!" The director yelled. Everyone got up from the floor, and wiped themselves off from the dust and glass that was sprawled all over the floor, as a result of the previous scene you all had finished. You, however, were tired from the long day, and it took you a little more energy to get up.
Jennifer went over to you after wiping herself off, and held out her hands for you to grab. After you accepted her hands, she smiled at you. "That was the best scene I've had in the whole movie! And it's because of you, I swear!"
You rolled your eyes at her quirky quality. "You're being hyperbolic, Lawrence. Maybe not the best scene."
"Great work, everyone!" The director said as he walked towards the doors. Before he got too far, he turned and pointed towards you and Jennifer. "Especially you two. You ladies were amazing!" You and Jenny giggled to yourselves until he is out of sight.
"He's right, you know. You're amazing." Jenny leans over to you. You turned to face her, and got startled by how close she was to you. "Jeez, Jenny. You really have to stop scaring me."
She chuckled again at your reaction. "I'm sorry, Y/N. Hey, what are you doing later? Maybe we could hang out."
"Yeah, that would be great," you said, walking towards the door. Jennifer, hot on your tail, kept the conversation going until you both arrived at your trailers. Before departing from one another, you both turned to face each other. "You know, it sucks that we're on different sides. I would've loved to work together. It would've made the movie 10 times more fun to be a part of."
"Why? You scared you're gonna get your ass kicked?"
She laughed at your quick wit. "No," she laid a hand on your shoulder. "I mean I would've loved to see what you're capable of from the other side. To be on your team."
You two took a minute and just stared into each other's eyes. You, left speechless, felt your cheeks heat up. You quickly pulled yourself out of your thoughts and picked up the conversation. "Okay then."
Jennifer smiles to herself, proud that she made you flustered. "I'll pick you up later. Be ready for 10. I have an idea."
"Okay. But don't think you're gonna try anything with me. I'm on to you, Lawrence." You opened your trailer door, when she replies.
"That's what I'm hoping will happen! Bye, Y/N/N!"
