Work Text:
Erik and Christine were flaked out on the bed, their bodies almost entwined. Erik’s body was laid flat on his chest with his arm over Christine’s waist with his deformed half sinking into the pillow, while Christine was snuggled into Erik’s shoulder with her leg over his.
A small bit of sunshine beamed onto Erik’s bare back as the sun started to rise, the dark red curtains had a small opening for the sun to pierce through, the only thing breaking the silence in the room was the grandfather clock ticking, until..
Christine woke up, for a moment she kept her eyes shut until she felt the unfamiliar mattress, she then opened her eyes and rolled onto her back with a groan. Her mind hadn’t quite processed her surroundings but she knew one thing; she was not in bed with Raoul.
She looked over to see Erik sleeping still, his arm that was on Christine’s waist was now clenched in a fist beside her. She smiled and turned to her side again and she started to stroke his shoulder blades, up and down and then in circles.
She looked up to see the source of that ticking, her eyes locked onto the time, it was 6am, she then thought about how she would be getting up for her wedding day in an hours time, but that didn’t matter anymore. Nothing else did.
Not when she was with her angel of music
Christine’s mind started to wander; she went from thinking about the events of last night that made her face a little hot to her future from now on, she was starting to realise what she had done, when these thoughts started to consume her, she felt a warm breath on her chest.
Christine looked down to see Erik now on his side with his face buried into her neck and dark curls. His breath was heavy so he was still asleep.
Erik did move around quite a lot and it woke her up once or twice, dreams perhaps?
Christine sighed and pressed a kiss on her Phantom’s head, the hand led up to the back of his neck and she started to stroke that too. “Oh Erik..” she whispered quietly. Christine shut her eyes and laid back still holding her angel of music.
As sleep started to overtake her she felt a shift of the weight near her, her eyes darted open and she looked to see Erik sitting on the edge of the bed looking at the floor, his mask was now back on him and his shoulder blades rolled as he stretched, Christine opened her mouth to wish him a good morning but she didn’t.
She wanted to see what he would do. The phantom grabbed his tight slacks and stood up to put them on. Christine stayed silent as she watched him throw on his cream coloured blouse that had an opening at the chest.
Christine sat up and lifted the sheets to cover her bare chest, Erik froze as he heard her shuffle, he knew she was awake.
“Erik—” she then tightened her jaw and pushed her teeth together as Erik turned back to her, his eyes were red like roses; hot tears ran down his cheeks, he didn’t open his mouth. But Christine opened hers.
A soft gasp left her as she saw Erik’s face and how his eyes burned into hers. “Don’t you dare leave.” Christine took a sharp breath because she knew that's what Erik wanted to do.
“My angel,” he started; then paused. Erik turned away to not face her and continued.
“You need to go back to the vicomte. He can give you everything, with him, you do not need to hide in the shadows due to a curse. Go now.”
Christine’s eyes widened and she felt tears burn her eyes. “I don’t need everything.” she waved her hand disregarding Erik’s words. “I have what I want. And that’s being with you!”
Her voice broke as she admitted that.
Why? because it’s the first time she admitted that out loud. The first time she accepted how she felt.
Erik didn’t turn back to her. But did sit back down, The ghost buried his face into his hand and he let out a sob. Christine’s eyes softened and she smiled, she smiled because she knew her words got to him.
Without hesitation she shuffled over to him and hugged him from behind, Christine gave a small kiss to his neck and stroked the back of his head. Erik’s head went back and into Christine’s chest as he turned around to face her. And neither of them ever wanted to let go.
not ever.
