Work Text:
Everyone was sitting around the room. Rex and Bell sitting at the bartop having a conversation in sign. Claude was brooding in the corner with his sour expression. Nia was off somewhere but she’s always around. And me... i’m bored out of my mind. I’ve tried every TV channel and nothing good on right now.
“Huh..” I sigh dramatically.
“Jericho, something wrong?” Rex asked.
“Yeah, I’m super bored.”
“Well, what do you want to do?” Rex said it like it was easy to answer.
“I don’t know, nothing sounds fun.” Bell then started waving her hands in the air and it looked like she was signing something but I couldn’t tell you.
“Bell said ‘What if we throw a party’ which doesn’t sound too bad,” Rex translated.
“Meh, we have plenty of parties.”
Bells signing again but at a much faster rate. “No like a formalish party with nice outfits.”
“Claude’s always dressed up doesn’t count.”
“I’m only dressed up 'cause I have an image to uphold,” Claude scoffed.
“A formal party sounds amazing,” Nia shouted while coming out of the wall.
“You know there's a door right?” Claude deadpanned.
“Doesn’t matter. Anyway, we could get fancy finger food, a DJ, a photobooth. Kind of like our prom!” She rambled excitedly.
“What’s prom?” Rex, Bell, and Jericho asked in unison.
“That was creepy… but it’s a big party with really nice outfits that gets put together by your high school.”
“They wouldn’t know that because they’ve never been to a real school, Nia,” Claude stated matter-of-factly.
“Oh right well then that makes it even better! We can think of it as blanks that haven't had a true prom. Probably the closest they got is whatever their faces did in high school.”
“Well, my face dropped out so..”
“Yeah, and that wasn’t really Mikiah thing at least I don’t think.” Rex looked at Bell seeing if she had any experience with a prom.
“Obviously I’ve never had anything close to a prom. Spent most of my development in a bag.” Bell signed a duh kind of expression on her face.
Brushing off what Bell said Nia got right to it, “So it settled! I’m going to find stuff for us to wear and you guys can set up the other details for this weekend,” After that Nia was off.
“Wait! I never agreed to this!” I shouted after her, “aaand she’s gone. Welp, I guess we're throwing a prom.”
A bunch of planning later. And the club looks like the pictures Nia showed us. As the last few touch-ups are being made. It’s about an hour before it begins so we all start getting ready till I hear…
“Bell, I think I’m wearing the wrong outfit.” I turn around to my idiot of a brother in a dress that I’m 99% sure was for Bell. It's a purple backless dress with a bunch of orange-ish chains coming off of it. With 4 small cutouts around the breasts that Rex obviously doesn’t have so it's a bit baggy. And lastly, 2 more cutouts around the hips that stop about mid-thigh.
Busting out laughing I hunch over and start wheezing. Even Claude looked surprised at his stupidity. “Yeah, you grabbed the wrong bag. But why did you put it on?” Bell signed while shaking from I assume laughing so hard.
“I don’t remember putting it on. I think my Scion had something to do with it.” Rex looks so defeated it makes me bust out laughing again. And the fact his tail hasn’t stopped wagging since he walked in here.
“Well you look great but we only got 30 minutes before it starts.” Shaking again from laughing.
“Bell!” Rex was lit up like a tomato and looked like he was seconds from dying.
Looking at my Scion I think ‘You better never do that to me.’ It just shrugged. Rolling my eyes I walk over to Claude. “Are you ready to go?”
“I wasn’t going to go.”
“But you’re already might as well,” I ask while walking up to him.
“Again I have an image to uphold.” He straightened up a bit.
“You're too uptight. Come on at least one dance.” While standing right in front of him.
He looked surprised and confused. “I don’t..”
Leaning down a bit I whisper, “Please.” Wait, am I really begging? What’s wrong with me? But before he could answer Bell, Rex, and Nia walked in. Backing up a bit I see Rex in his right outfit. A nice suit the same color purple as Bell's dress and an orange tie to go with the chains. Nia has on a bright pink dress that has added ribbon of neon greens, blues, and yellow paint splatters of those colors too.
“Everyone ready to party!” Nia yelled. With that, we all walked down and enjoyed the festivities.
