Work Text:
Aftermath of Meat Cute Massacre
Ravi & Clive:
"What do you think they are arguing about?" Ravi asks Clive as they spy on the resident zombies.
Clive peaks through the binds. Liv's back faces them but the "spies" have a good view of Blaine. His poker face doesn't show anything, but he does have to steady himself after Liv forces Blaine back. He throws his arms up and says something neither Clive nor Ravi catch.
"How are we not able to hear them?" Clive questions briefly taking his eyes off the zombies to scan the room they are hiding in. "You would think a morgue wouldn't be sound proof."
"Liv and I alter this room a bit after we started experimenting with New Hope and the other rats." Ravi explained leaving out the part of making sure rats didn't cause a zombie outbreak.
Never taking his eyes off Liv and Blaine. Ravi notices something odd. Unlike when they were around other people, the two undead are acting too familiar. If he wasn't familiar with Liv, Ravi wouldn't have noticed it. But this doesn't completely look like almost strangers arguing. It could just be Liv and Blaine being sort-of friends because of a shared undeadness but it doesn't seem like it.
"Is it just me or does it look like Liv and Blaine know each other better than we thought?" Clive asks breaking Ravi from his thoughts.
"What could they possibly have in common?" Ravi questions back.
"Major Lilywhite for one, and apparently Liv's brother worked at Meat Cute for another." Clive offers.
"I didn't know Evan worked for Blaine." Ravi finally looks at Clive.
"He was heading into work the day of the massacre and was injured in the explosion."
"Ah, maybe Liv is yelling at him for putting her brother being in danger." Ravi reasons.
Liv & Blaine's Conversation
"How could you? Evan and my mom thought I was on drugs before you came out of the zombie closet." Liv glared at Blaine.
"What did you want me to do? Ms. Moore called me about him and demanded to know what was going on with you." He shot back.
"You hired him, Blaine. You put him in danger with every delivery."
Blaine looked off to the side. "Olivia, I would have turned Evan before letting him get hurt."
"That's the thing, Blaine McDonough, I don't want him to become like us." Liv says using his real name to show she is serious.
"Olivia Moore," he says rolling his eyes. "I thought we agreed that you would only use my actual last name only in front of Ms. Moore and Even."
"You agreed. I never said anything about it." Liv pauses then asks in Blaine's mind the oddest question. "Also why are you saying 'Ms. Moore'? My mom never said you couldn't call her by her name even when we were kids."
"We grew up together, Liv. I've only used her first whenever it's an emergency or when she would come and get me after all the beatings." Now it's his turn to get defensive. "Plus, neither you nor Even call my dad by his first name."
"Yeah, because he is a creepy ans abusive asshole."
She isn't wrong, but no body really calls him out on it. Even though Eva Moore wanted to help him as a child. Unfortunately, Blaine and the Moores knew his father would get away with the abuse regardless of them proving it was true. Eva tried once and dear old dad refused to let the family to see him until the charges were dropped.
"Look, either way your mom and brother know now that we can't donate bodily fluids or parts unless they want to be a zombie."
Liv sighs and agrees. Blaine did save her from losing her both her mom and brother because of her saying she couldn't save Evan. Doesn't help that she is now the reason that Blaine and her family have mandatory family diners again. Though she and Blaine agreed Major, her friends, and Blaine's can't find out about their little secret. Neither are ready or want to explain their shared childhood.
"Can you stop killing kids? Or find another way to supply the zombie population with brains?"
"Evan beat you to it and said that I need to work with already deceased bodies. Found this nice funeral parlor, I could start making a 'honest living'." He air quotes the honest living. "Don't worry though Evan will no longer be working with me or as a delivery boy."
"Thank you"
Blaine looks at the clock an realize he is running a little late for his appointment with the lawyers about the insurance claim.
"I've got to go but I'll see you Friday at your mom's family dinner, right?"
"Yeah, mom was kind of excited and Evan could use a friend right now."
"Don't kid yourself. We both know I'm basically that kid's older brother." He says as he start to walk out of the morgue. "Oh, and you might want to tell those two chuckle heads that they suck at spying."
"Bye, Blaine," Liv says rolling her eyes at him.
Ravi & Clive:
Liv almost spots Ravi and Clive hurry to act normal. Unfortunately, she doesn't miss that Ravi accidently throws all the "paperwork" all over the room. Clive has the victim's file and pretends to be reading it. The zombie raises an eyebrow as Clive awkwardly waves at her. Liv waves back before she start working on their next case.
"Do you think she saw us spying?" Ravi ask from the ground.
"If she didn't, Blaine could have." He closes the file. "Next time you want us to spy on them, maybe not put us into a soundproof room."
"Oh, sure. I'll just hide us in walls with the decreased people." Ravi says sarcastically.
