moonlight sonata

Summary:

" [...] As Tenn takes a quick glance at the alluring moonlight seeping from the window, she realizes she's nothing more than a puppet attached to the perilous strings of the almighty nightfall. She doesn't usually go to bed that late –since she's always had a strict curfew to follow at home–, that's why being wide awake at this hour of the night feels so new— so ecstatic. To break the rules, to do something so immoral and outrageous it should never be revealed to anyone else– a secret that belongs to them and them only. It's something that could easily shatter her good kid reputation if only Kujo knew– about the truth, about the secret night that just occurred without his knowledge."

As their hearts slowly merge into one, Tenn and Gaku compose an enchanting melody under the moonlight's embrace.

Work Text:

Once the light of the bedside lamp ultimately fades, night can finally start striking its next move, embracing the entire room with its special lullaby. It's a comforting melody, an enchanting spell to sugar-coat people's dreams with sweet nothings and childish desires. As Tenn takes a quick glance at the alluring moonlight seeping from the window, she realizes she's nothing more than a puppet attached to the perilous strings of the almighty nightfall. It's something that could easily shatter her good kid reputation if only Kujo knew– about the truth, about the secret night that just occurred without his knowledge. He's never been a big fan of her friends— especially Gaku, which he has previously argued with a good couple of times. She knows Gaku doesn't mean anything bad– she just cares about Tenn, enough to find her a person worth fighting for. That's who Gaku is— a strong warrior, but a lover first and foremost. She puts herself on the line for the people she loves, never once showing any sign of fear or hesitation when it comes to protecting someone else. That's what she has always done with Tenn, shielding her from anything that could potentially be of harm to her princess. It's something she does unintentionally– like it's been written in her DNA ever since she was born. It's nice– to have someone care about you so deeply, a love so genuine like a flower's first bloom during spring. It's an emotion not even Kujo Tenn of all people is able to control: despite her composure, nothing can really be defined as logical when it comes to her feelings towards Gaku– everything is haphazard, significantly irrational, and as frenetic as the butterflies' dance when their gazes meet. She likes playing around, teasing and bickering with her due to the other's earnest nature, and yet at times Tenn feels like she's the one who's being played with– when Gaku's fingertips tickle her heartstrings, composing a symphony no one has ever listened to before. It's the melody they hear whenever their souls connect, merging into one like two pieces casted in the same mold. It's what they hear when they're together as a whole.

Tenn breaks free from the grasp of Gaku's soft lips, further cementing the secret they produced that night. She stares at the girl beneath her on the bed for far, far too long, enchanted by the image of Gaku's long hair and fair skin bathed in the holy gleams of the moon. Both girls silently agree that words are no longer needed, losing themselves in the bliss of that fleeting moment. As much as Gaku would love to let Tenn know how pretty she looks on her lap, she ends up synthesizing her feelings in the kindness of her touch, sliding her hands across Tenn's bare skin like a follower would with their deity: from her cheeks –soft, pale, a delicate shade of red that only enhances her angelic features– to her waist, her fingers leave a trail starting from the lower part of her breast to the upper part of her hip. Tenn's body shivers from the sudden stimulation, a burning sensation wherever Gaku lays her fingers on, an unholy testament of the other's presence. Gaku can only grin at the flawless performance happening in front of her eyes, her hands caressing Tenn's thighs in a gesture devoid of any sort of twisted malice.

"It's pretty late, angel." The nickname usually makes her blood boil, but now Tenn can’t help but feel like her heart is about to burst. "Wanna stop for today?"

"Are you sure?" Tenn asks, her head drooping in confusion. "Just like that?"

"You know we have work early tomorrow. Don't tell me you forgot about that?"

A sigh escapes the girl's lips as she transfers her weight to the other side of the bed, surrendering herself to her responsibilities as an idol. Gaku laughs at the other's childish reaction, wrapping her slender figure around one of her arms. There's tangible disappointment in the way Tenn puffs her cheeks, lowering her head to avoid meeting the trajectory of the other's glance.

"Are you really okay with this?" It's a question that hints at clear concern, something Tenn can’t hide as well as she thinks. Her mind wanders as she finds herself unconsciously toying with the white see-through lace of the other's bra, rubbing her thumb and index against the web-like texture. Gaku gladly obliges, letting her do as she pleases without uttering any complaints. "I thought you'd be disappointed."

"Why would I?" She squeezes her closer to her side. "You know I didn't ask you to meet because I was expecting something else, right?"

Tenn pauses, staring blankly at the other girl as if she's in some sort of trance. "You didn't?"

"Of course not!" Gaku shouts out, quite frustrated at the other's assumption. "Who do you take me for?"

"I don't know. I heard what they all say about you."

" Surely you understand it's all a bunch of lies, right?" She emits a long, audible breath, exasperated by Tenn's antics. She replies by giggling in endearment, her arms wrapped around the other's belly to further close their distance. "I'm nothing like that."

"I know."

"I just wanted to see you."

"Did you?"

"Yes."

"So you're not mad?"

"I wouldn't have told you to stop if that were the case." She leaves a quick kiss on the girl's forehead, an implicit fondness that feels like the birth of a new universe– as light as a nebula, as impactful as the Milky Way, captivating like the evanescent shimmer of a shooting star. "I'm more than happy now."

"I'm glad." Her voice is soft, filtered from any sort of impurity. Tenn raises her head, just enough to be able to cross Gaku's eyes, an extraterrestrial meeting that remains a wonder to the entire space. "I'm happy too."
