Work Text:
Alec sat in his office, taking sips of his wine that he used to drink with his wife. Days has been harsh ever since him and his wife had gotten a divorce. But then again, he was busy and was focusing on work.
He pretty much felt neglected against his own family, his visits his son at times but his wife always turned a blank eye on him. He groaned at the thought of them, trying to forget.
He put his chin on his hand and rested on it as he continued his office duty.
Then suddenly, someone knocked on his door. No not knocked, barged in.
It was Fiore, the little girl that he made an alliance with. He had no idea how she even was allowed in the building but they made up after the season.
Fiore and Alec were pretty close, they had a found-family relationship and Alec always felt at ease every-time he was with her. He knew she had a hard time with her family, so he took her in most of the times.
Alec tilted his head, and mumbled out. “Fiore? What are you doing here? Who even let you in?” He rose from his chair and walked near to the little girl standing next to his door. “I told the guards I was your daughter, and they believed it! It was pathetic!” Fiore chuckled out, her hands gesturing on what had happened.
“Daughter?” Alec questioned, tilting his head. “Well, thats one way.” Alec sighed as he went back to his office desk. Fiore mostly explored his office. It was modern and neat, and he had pictures of his son and ex-wife on some of the shelves.
But one caught her eye.
Alec had a pic of Fiore and him on her birthday, it was framed and they were on those rides that take pictures of you. It was the sweetest thing that you could ever imagine.
Fiore pondered, why would this librarian have a picture of someone who ruined his life before? But it softened her heart, pathetic. She grabbed the photo frame, then stumbled beneath Alec’s office desk.
“Whats this?” Fiore gently put the photo on his desk, near his laptop. She could only reach the table and she had to stretch her legs as far as she could to even reach it.
Alec smiled, as Fiore found the picture. “Oh that? I had it when we went to that amusement park last time. It was given to me for free so I kept it.” Fiore’s curiosity vanished as she realized he kept that photo.
“Can you help me up?” Fiore gestured, because she coudn’t reach the top of Alec’s desk. It was a cute scene to see. Alec chuckled and lifted Fiore to the small seat next to Alecs.
Alec continued his work, talking to Fiore multitasking. Until Fiore suddenly climbed on Alecs lap and reached for his phone. “Do you mind if I borrow your phone? I dont have mine with me.” “Sure..”
Alec worked on what his boss made him do while his daughter-figure sat in his lap. Fiore yawned, getting sleepy but trying not to make it obvious. Her eyes were half closed and the phone in her hands lost balance.
Fiore let go of the phone and put it away without Alec noticing, she watched Alec for awhile until he spoke up. “Are you okay Fiore? You seem tired.” “Im fine.” Fiore sighed, knowing she was about to fall asleep in his arms right now.
It didn’t last long until Fiore’s eyes closed and she drifted off to sleep, her head resting against Alec’s chest. She snored peacefully, and she was relaxed. Alec noticed this and smiled. “Look who fell asleep.”
Alec turned and put his right hand, hugging Fiore slightly. Using his left arm to type, then Fiore put her arms around Alec’s hand and rested on it. Alec melted at this.
He knew this little girl ruined her life, but he always saw her as her daughter.
“Sleep well, Fiore.”
