Work Text:

Wendy was sitting at the table, focusing intently on something. Clayman couldn't quite see what it was from where he was sitting, but he wasn't particularly concerned about that. No, his attention was drawn to their face and their face alone. The expression they wore as they worked was decidedly cute. He couldn't help but stare, taking in the slight furrow of their brows, and the way their tongue stuck out of their mouth as they focused, blue eyes intent on their target. In a single word, they were beautiful, and he was smitten. Without an ounce of shame, he sat with his chin resting on his hand and watched them, expression soft and full of love.

As if feeling his eyes on them, Wendy suddenly lifted their head, turning and looking at him.

“Oh! I didn't see you there, Clayman!" Wendy said, laughing. “Did you need something?”

Clayman smiled softly. “No, nothing in particular.” He continued to stare at them. “Please, feel free to return to what you were doing."

“Wait a minute...” Wendy's smile turned mischievous. "Have you just been watching me this entire time?”

Clayman looked momentarily puzzled as he considered the remark. He chuckled softly. "I suppose I was."

Their smile turned coy. “What's that about, hm?”

Goodness, he was taken in by how cute they looked.

“I just thought you looked beautiful.” The words came from his mouth with no hesitation, catching Wendy off guard. Clayman was only further taken in by the pink now dusting their cheeks at his words.

"Um, b-but, I- I'm just- I'm not dressed special or anything-" They were taken aback by the fact that their attempt to fluster him had been turned around on them, albeit seemingly unintentionally. His words were clear, genuine and spoken in earnest.

Clayman chuckled softly. “It was never the clothes that made you beautiful, Wendy. ”

His words were said with such sincerity that they felt like their heart was exploding. He was obviously not trying to tease them - he was just saying what was on his mind. That made his words hit that much harder for them, practically taking their breath away.

"But, I-" They stammered, looking away shyly with a deep blush, smiling giddily. "I'm not doing anything special..."

Clayman chuckled again, getting to his feet to draw closer to them. They watched him intently, eyes wide, as he knelt down on one knee beside their chair, facing them and looking up with an expression of utmost love. His red eyes were warm beneath long lavender lashes, peering up at them.

They gasped softly as he took one of their hands into both of his, squeezing it gently.

"You don't have to do anything in particular to leave me breathless," he remarked, rubbing circles into their hand. "You're you, after all."

"Cl- Clayman!" They blurted out, their free hand going to cover their mouth. Such uncensored honesty, such vulnerability about his feelings, had them reeling. The air felt electric, a thrill running up their spine at his words. As if sharing a secret, they whispered back to him, "I'll melt into a puddle if you say much more."

He smiled in response, letting out an amused huff of air.

"Then I'll finish my thought with actions."

Before Wendy could question what exactly that meant, he'd stood up, still holding their hand, bringing the back of it to his lips for a kiss, shortly giving the palm a similar treatment. He laid their hand on his waist, before leaning in to cup their cheeks, tilting their face up so he could press a kiss to their lips.

Wendy went boneless against him, the hand on his waist grabbing at the fabric of his tux, the other hand reaching for his chest. They snarled the fabric of his vest, pulling him closer. He was more than happy to oblige.

They stayed like that for a long moment, lips locked together, mouths intertwining. There was no need for words, love conveyed between the two of them with tender touches and gentle motions.

As they pulled apart, Wendy leaned after him for just a moment. He presented them with a quick peck on the lips. They giggled in response, relaxing their grip on him but not quite letting go.

"Will you sit with me for a while? There's no need for you to watch from so far away," they said, looking bashful as they gently cleared their throat.

He nuzzled his nose against theirs, sighing happily.

"I would be delighted to."
