Spring Break At the Beach

Summary:

Phil Coulson even after a year of dating Clint Barton couldn't believe that he would be going to spend spring break at the beach for free due to his boyfriend knowing the richest guy in school.

Notes:

Written for ClintCoulson Appreciation Week day 5: Fluff day. In which I post the fic that was never finished for last year's CCAW for this year's. XD

Work Text:

Phil Coulson was looking around the private airport wondering exactly how he ended up here. Other than having been dating Clint Barton for over a year now. He was waiting with a small group of his college friends for a private plane to show up and take them to Florida. Which was where they were spending spring break. At a beach house. And Phil was pretty sure that he’d overheard they would have been going to Italy if all of them could get passports. Phil had one, and he’d seen what he thought was Clint’s when he was in the dorm a few weeks ago so he wondered who didn’t have one.

Clint came up beside him and kissed him on his cheek. “Tony says we're about to board.” Phil nods and heads over to the area where they are going to get on. It wasn’t long before they were boarding and in the air. Clint had taken out his hearing aids and spent most of the time looking out the window. It wasn’t long before they were landing, again at a private airport. Three limos were waiting for them. Their stuff was being moved over to the limos as they fought over who was going to sit with whom.

It took Jarvis sighing and splitting them up himself before they got going. He had a feeling that the butler was tired of standing on the tarmac. It was a relatively short ride to the beach house, which Phil had to say was an understatement of its size. It was more like a beach mansion.

“The rooms have already been set up for you, most of them have been labeled with your names as well. If you wish to switch, negotiate among yourselves.” Jarvis led the way into the house. The inside of the beach mansion was just as extravagant as the outside had been. Tony led the way though pointing out where the rooms were. Clint found his and Phil’s room and collapsed on the bed. Phil got in his sight line knowing that he wasn’t wearing his hearing aids still. “Alright?”

Clint raised his hand, palm down and fingers flat before shaking it back and forth. Phil left him there and started to unpack his stuff. There was a shout from down the hall, but it was from Thor so he just continued to work on getting his stuff laid out.

It wasn’t long before there was a knock on the door. “Come in!” It opened to reveal Tony with a slip of paper.

“Here’s the WIFI password. I have it written down for Legalos. Who should be up and about in an hour or two. He gets like this when we fly.” Phil takes the slip of paper.

“Thanks. How often have you flown with Clint anyway?” Phil feels just a little guilty about asking Tony instead of Clint, but Clint never spoke about anything about his past, at all.

“Once or twice a year since he was seventeen or so.”

There was a crash down the hall and Tony went to investigate. Phil turns back to Clint to see him curled up on the bed and decides to leave him for now. He heads in the same direction that Tony had. Some shouts sounded like Loki and Rhodey. Phil peaked around the corner to see Thor and Rhodey were a mess of limbs. Rhodey was in his leg braces, which he hadn’t been earlier that day.

“You okay Rhodes?” Phil asked as Tony and Jane helpped get the two untangled from each other.

Rhodes grunts. “I think so. I was the one that ran into Thor so it’s more my fault than his.”

“I find it hard to believe that my idiot brother wasn’t part of the problem.” Loki doesn’t help at all, and well it was kinda funny to watch. Eventually, they have them separated and Rhodes is back on his feet. Phil just hopes this isn’t the indication of how this spring break is going to go. Last year Tony had been talking about doing something similar to this year and then Rhodey was in the car crash that paralyzed him partially from the waist down. Then his father made him spend the entire break up in New York City. Which had led to most of them spending most of the break in Rhodey’s hospital room. It hadn’t been bad, they managed to get the hospital registered as a Pokestop and the cafeteria as a gym. So everyone was entertained playing Pokemon Go.

But now a year on they were on the trip that had been planned for the previous year's spring break. Rhodes starts down the hall towards the living room and Phil and Tony follow. When they pass Clint and Phil’s room, Clint comes out with his hearing aids in his ears again.

“Please tell me there’s nothing fancy planned for dinner tonight?”

“No, tonight we’re just getting takeout. We’ll start planning things tomorrow.” Clint nods and slips back into the room. Phil follows and sits with him.

It was early the next morning when Tony came running down the hall at top speeds. Phil rolls over pulling Clint closer to him. “Tony awake?”

Phil writes out “Yes” on Clint’s bare chest. Clint shifts and reaches for his hearing aids. Phil lets him go. Clint puts in his left aid as he gets up to get something other than boxers on. Phil follows suit. He also made sure that all their dirty clothes were in the hamper. They head down to the kitchen to see Rhodey in his wheelchair and Bucky without his arm on. Pepper was standing at the counter making something and Tony had the coffee maker going. Clint went to wait for the coffee and Phil went to help Pepper with breakfast.

The rest of the group trickled in as the smell of food and coffee penetrated the building. They eat while talking about what people want to do. It seemed like most of the guys were wanting to go to the beach while the girls wanted to spend the day shopping. So the girls stole one of the larger cars that were in the garage and headed into town.

Clint and Phil headed out to the beach with the others after they were slathered in sunscreen. Clint complained the whole time but Phil won out after reminding him how bad the sunburn he got the previous year had been. As they made their way down the beach they saw the others already in the water.

“Do you want to walk or sit on the beach?” Phil signed as they made their way down to the beach chairs.

“Walk along the water,” Clint answered with his hands.

Phil nodded as he placed his and Clint’s towels down on one of the loungers. They made it to the edge of the water and started walking the other way from where the others were playing in the water. As they reached it Clint intertwined their fingers. Phil blushed as they walked and pulled Clint close enough that they were bushing shoulders at each movement.

They walked along the beach letting the waves lap their feet as they went until they were forced to turn back around due to reaching the end of the property lines. They turned around and walked back watching as the others played in the water. Phil sighed as he started to sign, “You sure you don’t want to learn to swim?”

“One hundred percent sure. Tony tried to teach me years ago and it didn’t go well.”

Phil hummed and was about to sign something in response when a big wave came in drenching the two of them. As the wave pulled away Clint tried to get his hair back out of his eyes when Phil pushed it out of the way for him before leaning in and kissing him.

When they pulled apart after several minutes they pressed their foreheads together and just stared into each other’s eyes. They stood like that until Phil heard Thor yell. He pulled away to see that Tony had latched onto the larger boy like a limpet. This caused the two of them to start laughing.

They watched as Thor tried and failed to get Tony to let go until Steve reached up and pulled him off. When Tony let go it overbalanced Steve and sent him crashing into the water. When Tony surfaced he latched back onto Thor. This time Thor was the one to throw him off. He hit Loki who tackled his brother as soon as he was able to get back up.

That started a water fight that lasted a while as Clint and Phil walked back to the chairs to sit down next to Rhodey. Clint leaned as close as he could as the three of them watched the fight between the other four. When the girls got back Natasha joined in the water fight along with Yaleana and Kate. Pepper came and sat next to Rhodes.

“How long have they been at it?”

“A while. Tony was the one to start it.”

“That’s not surprising. You three want to help me, Jane, and Jarvis get lunch ready?”

They nodded and headed back up to the house and Clint put back in his hearing aids. They all worked together to get the lunch made and out onto the balcony so the ones down in the water didn’t have to fully dry off to eat. As they worked anytime Clint and Phil passed each other they brushed hands or paused to give each other kisses.

They got the others to come back up from the water long enough to eat before they headed back to the water. This time Clint and Phil didn’t follow the others down and stayed inside to watch Dog Cops.

“I’m glad that you came with us,” Clint whispered as he kissed Phil’s cheek.

“I am too.” Phil pulled Clint close, tucking his head under his chin, and made sure that he wasn’t laying his forehead on Clint’s hearing aids before settling down to watch the show. They stayed like that until Tony came up to the house to drag everyone out to eat. It was a bit chaotic as Phil had come to realize that the group was always like that but had found it to be comforting in a way. When they got back they slept well tangled together in the bed.

The rest of the week went similarly for the two. A lot of time spent cuddling on the beach and walking along the water. There were of course days that they spent with the others but most of the time the others let them be. And thankfully it was calmer than those first few days of being in the beach mansion.
