He has a Giant Robot Now?!

“Um…about that. What if I told I was mi…” Spider-Man started to say after Ms. Marvel ‘thanked him’ for saving her and the other Avengers from Regent, despite being a jerk lately, when the Cellar began to shake.

As the various heroes began to slide off the state-of-the-art prison, Spider-Man quickly fired web lines to catch the Avengers, Cloak, and Dagger…only for him to start sliding down as the prison kept rising.

“What are you doing?” Many of the other heroes demanded as they looked up and saw Spider look like he was straining.

“Sorry, passengers, but sticky feet have a weight limit. Any chance Hulk can go on a rabid diet in the next five seconds?” Spider-Man managed to wisecrack despite clearly being at his limit.

“I got a better idea, you little…” Hulk growled out as he grabbed the several web lines that had stuck his shoulders, the Avengers calling out ‘no!’ as he pulled and yanked the slowly sliding spider-themed hero off the Cellar, as it began to enter some sort of standing position.

The collection of heroes all rose back to the surface of the water in time to see Cellar, the facility now becoming a giant robot, though the Avengers and Spider-Ma spared a moment to glare at Hulk.

“What? We were going to end up in the water anyway, and someone needed to put out the hot shot’s new ego,” Hulk commented before Regent’s voice came from the giant robot.

“Foolish Avengers! It’s so arrogant to think just because Hulk slammed me around, you did not bother securing me! Now I can use my last resort, the Cellar’s anti-breach mode! All the advantages of the Regent armor with a robot the size of a skyscraper!” Regent boasted, the supervillain using a secret hatch to get back into the Cellar’s control room when the heroes lowered their guard.

“Tony…do you still have the giant Iron Man armor you used against Thanos?” Captain America asked as the Avengers felt dread at facing Regent in an even more powerful form.

“The same robot that went down in only a few minutes and cost tens of thousands a day just to keep ready? Even I have to keep shareholders happy on occasion. Besides, we usually have a Hulk or Inhuman who can go giant on command; both are much more cost-effective!” Iron Man replied in a sour tone, which got him a glare from Ms. Marvel, who had issues going that big.

But before the youngest Avenger could voice her complaints, Spider-Man said, “Um…would it help the little voice in my head says ‘I’ have a giant robot?”

-

Back at the hospital, Anna-Maria gave Otto a raised eyebrow, making the young blush in embarrassment at the implied question as he said, “In my defense, I started the project when I was a villain and had been making cosmetic changes to look more heroic when I mind swapped with Parker. Plus…I enjoy Super Sentie. And I do mean Sentie! Not that cheap rip-off Power Rangers!”

Anna-Maria rolled her eyes and told Otto to get his little ‘Megazord’ project going before Regent got going with his robot on the attack.

-

Back at the Cellar, Regent watched at the view screen the Avengers, Cloak, and Dagger yelling at Spider-Man instead of focusing on him, but figured it was for the best. The heroes united was what defeated him just minutes ago. Whatever was dividing them was also leaving them open to his final attack.

“Best to keep things simple. I’ll use Blizzard’s powers to freeze the water and keep them in place for the powers of Paradox and Mr. Negative. Simple and effective,” Reagent said as he adjusted control to start draining the needed villains, only for something to shake the Cellar as an explosion went off.

“What?!” Regent demanded as he checked for what could have caused the blast…only to find a flying race car unleashing a barrage of missiles at him before flying toward the heroes.

-

Back with Spider-Man, he was handling the mix of demands and questions about him having a giant robot and the voice in his head. In hindsight, it’s probably not his best joke.

Fortunately, the car Otto told him over the comms was flying toward him, and he gave the young man an escape. Spider-Man fired a web line to grab onto the vehicle and pull out of the water, which flew by at high speed.

“I promise to explain and get back to you. Thank you!” Spider-Man called out as he twisted his body in various discretions to avoid getting grabbed by various hands or shot by Black Widow and Iron Man and quickly got into the racing machine.

‘How is this supposed to work with a giant robot?’ Spider-Man wondered as he reached for the glove compartment and took out a clunky high-tech bracelet.

Steadying himself, Spider-Man opened a compartment on the bracelet and called out, “Marveller!”

Off in the distance on the outskirts of New York, a cloud of dirt rose into the air into the air, and a giant aircraft rose from the ground, flying towards Spider-Man in his oddly flying car.

“Ock, as corny as this is, I’ll admit it is also kind of cool. Though the voice commands and names…why?” Spider-Man asked into his mask’s comms, getting a snort on the other end.

“When you build a giant robot, you can choose the names. Now, I’m engaging the autopilot to let you dock with Marveller,” Otto answered, neither knowing Hulk had given Ms. Marvel the fastball special and hung onto the back of the race car.

“Ock? Isn’t that the nickname Spidey gave one of his villains?” Ms. Marvel asked herself while also saying it into her comms, so the Avengers could know what was happening.

“Affirmative, Ms. Marvel. That would be Doctor Octopus’ nickname. Do not engage and see if you can find out more,” the voice of Captain America responded, so the polymorph shrunk down as small as she could and climbed into the seat with Spider-Man.

As the race car docked with the strange aircraft, it became part of the machine’s cockpit, where the face of Otto Octavius appeared on one of the control screens.

“Alright, Parker, from here, it’s up to you. The system is attuned to your voice, so while I might have built it, it still won’t acknowledge my commands. I was expecting it to still be in that body when I was making the final adjustment to everything,” Otto told Spider-Man as the young hero took the controls.

“Got, Ock, here is hoping this thing is as easy to operate as you said because this will be one short fight if it isn’t…Marveller, change to Leopardon!” Spider-Man told the former villain before issuing the transformation command, but both young men still had no clue that a tiny Ms. Marvel was spying on them. And she got out her phone to record the whole thing to make fun of Spider-Man later, now that she had partially confirmed why he had been a jerk lately.

Outside, the aircraft changed into a giant black, yellow, and red robot that touched down into the water, squaring off against the transformed Cellar. Regent is shocked that Spider-Man has used the same idea as him as a final trump card.

‘No matter, I am the one with all the powers of the inmates of this facility! I can not lose!’ Regent thought opened fire with a volley of lightning, fire, negative energy, and green energy blasts, which made Leopardon stagger back but remain standing.

In the Leopardon cockpit, Spider-Man called out, “Arm Rockets!” and the two fists launched from the robot’s arms and flew right at the Cellar, causing the transformed prison to almost fall over.

Back with the Avengers, they could only watch in awe that a giant robot with all the power of Regent was actually showing signs of being weaker than this Leopardon robot…which, going from what Ms. Marvel had informed them, was made by a supervillain!

“So, Stark, still sticking with the result from the scans? Because…” Black Widow started to say but stopped when the battle between the two robots caused more waves to head toward them.

Iron Man quickly created a force field to block the portion that would have pushed them under but still moved the group further from battle, and the Cellar and Leopardon advanced toward each other for more classic trading of blows; sparks flew as each robot struck the other.

“Hey, the scans did what they could with what I could check! How about we get the kid or Octavius for round two and make a comparison with the one we fought before encountering MODOC? If it turns out Octavius was in Spider-Man’s body, I’ll personally pay Peter Parker’s Horizon and college tuition…assuming I can convince Max to let Peter through the door,” Iron Man shot back, though mumbled the last part, knowing fixing things between Peter and Max would be challenging.

The Avengers quickly looked back to the battle when they heard a large amount of shifting sand and saw the Cellar had turned its arms into sand and lifted Leopardon into the air.

“Enough of this! Time to end this!” the voice of Regent roared from the Cellar’s speakers and looked ready to slam Leopardon back down into the water at full force, but Leopardon and Spider-Man were not as defenseless as the villain had assumed.

“Sorry, but we are not losing this, Regent! Arc Turn!” Spider-Man called out, and the golden samurai decoration on the head of Leopardon’s head glowed and fired off like a boomerang. The glowing projectile easily cut through the sand arms and let the machine piloted by the hero land on its feet in the water.

-

Inside Leopardon, Spider-Man and Otto saw the sand that made up the Cellar’s arms was not returning quickly enough to put up a defense, giving them a chance to win this fight!

“Parker! Do it now!” Otto exclaimed joyfully, the young hero already way ahead of the machine’s creator.

“Oh, this is going to be fun. Leopardon, Sword of Vigor!” Spider-Man said as he finally started liking this giant robot business, while the still hidden Ms. Marvel rolled her eyes while thinking, ‘Boys and their toys.’

-

Back outside, Leopardon drew a blade from the compartment on its leg and threw it at the Cellar robot. The blade soared true and hit a pivotal location to damage the prison’s power supply but keep it from blowing up, making Regent lose power to his ultimate trump card.

As the prison fell over in defeat, Leopardon moved to block the massive water wave from hitting the Avengers. Spider-Man’s voice called out, “Sorry about that. I did not think the Cellar would fall over. Hey, where is Ms…”

The Avengers only rolled their eyes as they heard a shriek after Ms. Marvel’s voice said, “Look behind you.” The adult heroes, plus Cloak and Dagger, quickly guessed it was the boy who shrieked despite the pitch being very high.

“Mind getting us in there?” Captain America asked Cloak, who still looked weak, but he nodded while smirking along with Dagger. They wanted to see how he reacted when asked how he could scream like a girl.

Later on the evening news:

“This is J. Jonah Jameson of Daily Bugle, to report on the giant robot battle straight out of Saturday morning kid’s show that happened off Hudson River this afternoon. It appears Augustus Roman was the one who took on the identity of ‘The Regent’ to target the Avengers, but the new and improved Spider-Man foiled the plot. I’ll also be the first to point out that despite it being proven to be a needed weapon, this ‘Leopardon’ falling into the wrong hands is a terrifying thought. Fortunately, I have reports that Spider-Man is more than willing to hand proverbial keys to the Avengers. It is being moved to a secure location until plans on when and how such a robot can be used,” the face of Jamison reported. Still, Peter turned off the screen and headed to bed since Iron Man had said he would help him corner Max in the morning to see if a trusted friend would get Peter’s foot back in the door of Max’s good graces.

Peter felt it would be a long day, no matter what. But at least one crisis was dealt with…even if he did technically now have the rep of having a freaking ‘Magazord’ at his command. One that held its own against a robot as powerful as Regent in a one-on-one fight!
