Marvel characters as Greek myth

Summary:

I asked myself which Greek myth defined each Marvel characters. I spiraled from here and this work was born!
Currently featuring: Steve, Tony, Bucky, Clint, Wanda, Thor, Loki, Bruce, Natasha, Peter P, Pepper, Sam, Matt, Rocket, Nick, Peter Q, Gamora, Vision, Nebula, T’Challa, Shuri, Carol.

Hi readers! This is my first ao3 work and I hope you’ll like it. Prepare tissues cause you’re about to weep :)

(English isn’t my first language so there might be errors in the text, feel free to tell so I’m able to correct them!)

Chapter 1: Steve Rogers

Notes:

Let’s start with the first Avengers.

Notes:

I always saw Steve as Achilles because he seems invulnerable and tough when he’s just a big softy inside :)

Chapter 2: Tony Stark

Notes:

The first time I watched Endgame I cried so hard because of Tony. He really had to sacrifice himself didn’t he?

Hephaestus proved his worth many times through his work but Olympus still sees him as a deformed child - Tony Stark

 

 

 

 

Notes:

Tony Stark is Hephaestus because of his inventions and everything he created out of nothing. He will however be looked down by many before his sacrifice.

Chapter 3: Bucky Barnes

Notes:

You got Steve at chapter 1 and if you know your mythology you can guess who Bucky is :)

Patroclus death was the reason Achilles marched into the battlefield - Bucky Barnes

 

 

 

Notes:

You can't put Steve as Achilles without Bucky as his Patroclus. I prefer to see them as romantically involved with each other but it can be seen platonicly too!

Notes:

Clint can't be anything else than our dearest archer Artemis. I feel like it was his favourite God/Goddess when he was a kid!

Wanda is a witch, it is only fair she gets one too.

Chapter 6: Thor Odinson

Notes:

I just remembered that the Greek Gods exist in the MCU. I can’t be sure that Thor will not be pleased by my work T-T

I’m not gonna lie but this one was the most difficult to write because it hits just too hard.

I love Bruce he is so precious, he is one of my favourite :)

Chapter 9: Natasha Romanov

Notes:

And with Nat I finished writing about the 6 original Avengers.

Athena just fits. Nat’s also represented as an owl in Hawkeye.

Chapter 10: Peter Parker

Notes:

Everyone’s favourite sticky spider!!!

Theseus came home to a empty house because of a mistake, and will never forgive himself - Peter Parker

 

 

 

 

Notes:

Theseus was forced to kill the Minotaur without any help when he was just a teen and with no chance of surviving. Peters powers was forced onto him and he therefore thinks he need to save everyone. I feel like this comparaison is right

Chapter 11: Pepper Potts

Notes:

Pepper is the most supportive character in the MCU and is always forgotten. This has to change!

Where you aware that Aphrodite was a Goddess of war just the same as Ares or Athena?

You probably know my thought process by now and know who I chose for Sam :)

Matt is such a complex character that I didn’t understand him at first. I finished by loving him as he is also one of my favourite :D

Hiii sorry for the wait, I’ve got part my high school final exams tomorrow and been hyperfixated on DCxMCU crossover the whole week.
Anyway here is Nebula, I don’t think I could have found a more fitting character.

Selene and Helios are brothers and sisters in Greek Mythology but Artemis and Hecate were both also tied to the Moon as well as Apollo was tied to the Sun

Notes:

Hey, it’s been a while! Today I give to you an under-appreciated Marvel character, often misjudged for her personality - and the fact that she is a women- when others have the exact same but are adored -mostly men.

Fun fact: I was actual part of the people who didn’t like her at first (mostly because I didn’t watched Marvel films in order) but my view of her changed as I learned to see her differently.
