for my favourite blue lock reader
"isagi? it's late. what are you doing?"
isagi couldn't be bothered now. this painting took every ounce of his care and concentration. "bachira, go back to bed."
"not until you go too." isagi frowned at bachira's response. "what are you painting?"
isagi was quick to hide the painting from bachira. "nothing. can you go already?"
but bachira already saw.
"what is it, isagi? is it so private and secret you can't even share with me? when i'm supposed to be the person you trust the most?" bachira was beginning to feel irritated, although he seldom got upset, especially with isagi.
isagi turned away from him, sitting back in his seat. "it's us. when we went to watch stars last summer. chigiri took the picture and sent it to me."
bachira remembered this trip from last summer. it was funded by reo, who insisted that he and nagi go "feel some outside air" as well, and the six of them decided on a camping trip.
they spent days out there, but every night, there were no stars like they'd expected from those american movies.
it was fun however, bachira spent his time swimming in the creek, isagi and kunigami tried to cook some food with their portable grill, chigiri spent his time watching bachira fool around (until he was dragged into the water as well), and reo and nagi danced around in the nearby field of dandelions.
on their last day of the trip, there were finally stars. a billion stars littered the sky, standing out from the blue and purple sky colours as little spots of light. bachira was so excited. he dragged isagi out of the camping truck, and they sat at the highest point of the hill quietly gazing at the stars.
isagi had made a move then, to hold bachira's hand. they didn't exchange a single word. the stars exploded with emotions and feelings, and not enough verbal communication could ever exceed a quiet night with the stars. somehow unknowingly, kunigami and chigiri snuck a couple of pictures of isagi and bachira watching the stars.
"so you're drawing us?"
isagi nodded. "yeah. it's frustrating. i can't get the stars to look the way it was that night."
bachira sat beside isagi, leaning his head on the shoulder next to him. "isagi, nothing could ever compare to that night. i hope you know that."
"thanks a lot, bachira."
bachira laughed. "not in that way. it was so beautiful to see with our eyes that it won't look as mesmerizing as you wish."
isagi suddenly sat up straight. "bachira."
"hm?"
"paint the stars for me." isagi handed bachira a thin brush, and mixed the light colours together.
when the brush touched the canvas that had been painted blue and purple by isagi, it was a hint of yellow, white, and silver that changed the entire sky.
"that's exactly it..." isagi mumbled under his breath. with such minimal effort, bachira had drawn out the exact vision of the stars isagi had in his mind.
"isagi, let's finish this painting together."
it was like silence was always their last resorted comfort. sure, the two argued and bickered a lot, but they also talked about how they felt a lot. but somehow, nothing could ever compare to the silence they always share at night. whether it's with real stars, or painting stars, they'd always find comfort in the peaceful, shared silence.
"bachira. i can't paint with my left hand." isagi looked at their intertwined hands.
bachira giggled. "well you're gonna have to figure it out! isagi, i don't plan on letting your hand go."
"hey bachira,"
"hm?"
"let's go see stars again."
"sure!"
"...and then come home, and paint the stars again."
"okay!"
"the stars looked pretty last summer."
"you're right, isagi."
"but they look even more beautiful when you paint them with the brush that has my name engraved on it."
