A fear of nothing is still a fear

Summary:

Alastor is forced to deal with his biggest fear.

But what is it?

Or

Alastor angst mixed with the idea Lilith kept him in a void of nothingness for seven years.

Now with added pain and angst! Yum yum!

Notes:

I wrote this on my phone while procrastinating writing a different fic that is proving hard to write for some weird reasons!

Chapter 1: The void

Chapter Text

“Come now Charlie I’m not quite sure what you want from me?” Alastor said tilting his head to the side with a sharp grin on his face.

“I want you to open up like everyone else here” Charlie said her tone just barely having anger in it. Actually it was more annoyance than anger.

“Yeah antlers, even Lucifer talked a bit” Angel added quite unhelpfully in Alastor’s opinion.
“That doesn’t entitle you to hear me talk” Alastor was starting to get aggravated. Why couldn’t they just except that he didn’t want to participate in the frivolous activities Charlie insisted they do.

“Come on Alastor it doesn’t even have to be a big fear just share something” Charlie was practically begging now. If her request wasn’t to annoying him he would have found amusement from it.
“Charlie what you ask is impossible, I have no fear” Alastor got up having had enough of this.

“ALASTOR” Alastor paused and turned around to look at Charlie. Everyone else was also looking at the woman. She never yelled at a hotel resident before and they all believed she never would.

“Just because you don’t believe sinners can be rehabilitated doesn’t mean you can be disrespectful” Charlie was glaring. Glaring! At Alastor! Those eyes looked uncomfortably similar to her mother’s. It made Alastor’s skin crawl.

“I simply just see no point to this Charlie. You and your friends can continue with this ridicules-“ Alastor wasn’t able to finish his sentence. Charlie speed forward and gripped his arm, her hair blew and her horns grew out the top of her head. She was undoubtedly anger.

Something seemed to poor out of her into Alastor and then into the floor. It only took a blink before the lounge faded around them.

All the people who where sitting down fell of there seats onto the floor. There sofa’s were no longer there instead there were in a corridor with only one door at the end of it.

“What the fuck?!” Husk yelled getting up off the floor and helping Angel up afterwards.
“I- dad did I just do what I think I did” Charlie looked slightly frantic, worried and guilty all at the same time.
“Yeah… yeah I think you did” Lucifer looked around the corridor before focusing on the door.
“Fuck” Charlie groaned covering her face with her hands.

“Hey toots, where exactly are we” Angel asked looking at the walls. They were the same design as the hotel but no one had seen this place before.

“I may have done some emotional magic which may or may not have trapped up here till the person I did it on faces there deepest fear” Her hands were fiddling with each other as she said every word.

Alastor’s ears pinned to his head. It was him wasn’t it. Alastor glared at the door guessing at what could be behind it. Maybe the dogs that ripped him apart or his farther who would beat him whenever he felt like it. There was really no way of telling what could be behind the door and that in itself was terrifying. What would the resident learn from this? How would he ensure that they can’t use it against him?

He turned round to Charlie with a perfect smile on his face not letting any of his worry show.
“As I said before Charlie I have no fears so there will be nothing to face”

“Yeah yeah we get it Alastor. Just open the door so we can go back to the hotel” Vaggie said her arms crossed with an unimpressed look on her face.

Alastor rolled his eyes before walking up to the door. His fingers twitched slightly before he gripped the handle and opened it.

Inside was dark and cold. The group walked in and looked around but nothing could be seen. It was just expansive empty darkness; Not even a sound could be heard and there voices were barely audible as well.

“So what’s-“ Lucifer paused as he looked at Alastor. The man looked stiff and his fingers were twitching slightly “Alastor” Lucifer moved closer to the sinner, his face was also stiff and his smile was so wide it looked like his head could split in half. His eyes were observing the room frantically going back and forth between the expansive darkness and the others in the nothingness.

“Alastor whats wrong?” Lucifer asked getting slightly worried now. It seemed the others were to as they came closer to the man with different expressions of confusion or worry on there face.

“Alastor there’s nothing here” Charlie tried to reassure him.
“No- no No NO NO NO” Alastor fell backwards crumbing to the floor and gripped at his hair pulling harshly at it.
“Boss?” Niffty put her hand on the man’s shoulder but he only flinched backwards.
“You’re not supposed to be here. You can’t be here” He screamed at them. If anything it seemed somewhat desperate, more like a beg than him being angry at them.

“Why aren’t we supposed to be here” Lucifer was on his knees now as close as he could possibly be to the man without him freaking out. He may not be the best of friends with the guy but he wasn’t just going to let go suffer.
“No one should be here” He sucks in a deep breath but it didn’t help only making his breathing more frantic.

“Al there’s literally nothin’ here” Angel said looking from the complete nothingness to the deer on the floor.
“THATS THE FUCKING POINT” He pulls his head up to yell at the others. His eyes are wide and his breathing is far too frantic for it to be good for the man “Nothing- Nothing for seven years” Alastor slammed his head back into his knees and continued to yank at his hair, digging his clawed fingers into the flesh underneath “I thought I was finally out- I” His breathing picked up again stopping him from being able to speak.

Husk lets out a rather large curse causing the group to turn to him.
“Alastor you have to let me tell them” Husk said in almost a beg. They seemed to both know what Husk was talking about and it also seemed to aggravate the deer who was definitely having a panic attack now. Normally a person might grasp there hand and put it to there chest coaching the person through there breathing but touching would definitely make it worse then better.

“No- you” A deep stuttering breath “They can’t know”
“ALASTOR. I don’t give to shits about you a lot of the time but this” he gestured around the dark void of nothing “this is fucked up” Alastor just barely nodded his head all while keeping his eyes pushed into his knees as he tried and failed to calm himself. His hands still tugged fiercely at his hair and his breathing was all sorts of messed up.

“Alastor’s on a chain. I’m assuming this is where they kept him for the seven years he was gone” Husk looked at Alastor while he said it hoping to see some confirmation that was he was saying was correct. The fact Alastor tensed more as he spoke said everything.

“Seven years” Vaggie looked around the place as if seeing it for the first time “fuck that’s sick”
“So you’re telling us that Alastor sold his soul and the sick fuck decided to keep him here for seven years” Lucifer’s eyes widened and he felt like he would vomit. He was sure he wasn’t alone in that thought.

“This is an actual torture method. Full sensory deprivation for seven years” A pair of angels arms hugged around his waist.

“Oh Alastor who did this to you” Charlie knelt down next to her farther knowing she wouldn’t be able to get any closer to Alastor then her farther. Her asking only seemed to make him more distressed as he moved a hand from his head to grip at his mouth cutting it slightly in the process.

“No need to tell. We know what’s going on now ok” Lucifer tried to reassure the man who just looked much more panicked at the fact he moved closer or even moved at all then the fact he didn’t need to say anything more. Slowly, the darkness around them seemed to fade. Little flakes of black fell downwards before finally they were back in the lounge.

Before anyone could say anymore to Alastor he ran. He speed upstairs not letting anyone interact with him before hand.

They could only hope that one day he would tell them.
