“I just think it is a bit of a primitive weapon,” Lucy voiced, rocking on the heels of her feet as Cooper insisted she learned to use a slingshot. “I don't see a situation where I will need to use it.”
“If you stop yapping for a minute I will tell you,” Cooper watched Lucy's mouth slam shut and roll her eyes. There were times like this when he regretted promising her that he wouldn't eat her. “A slingshot is an excellent hunting tool for smaller animals. For one and for two I have knocked many of the people with this and stones.”
“Okie Dokie,” Lucy put her hands in mock surrender. “I will learn to use it since you are so passionate about it.”
“I should have eaten you when I had the chance.”
Lucy isn't terrible with a slingshot, she isn't great either. She's so used to being the best, her dad always pushed her and Norm to be. A man in his position should have children that he can show off with pride. But Lucy is no longer a child, her dad isn't here and she's far away from the vault and their judgement.
Cooper, on the other hand, hits every target with ease as if using a slingshot comes as naturally as breathing to him.
“Not bad for a first time Vaultie. If you keep on practising you will be able to use it as well as a gun or a knife.”
