Chapter Text
The Atlantic Ocean was not as nice as the Caribbean Sea. At least to the five year old Siren. It was much colder. And less interesting. But her father had told her to follow him. So she did. Grumpily, she curled up on a rock, dull and muddy colored scales helping her blend in, glaring up at the dock he told her to wait at. Suddenly, she saw movement. It was her father!
The older Siren had been tricked by the Sea Fae. He had finally fallen in love again, recovering from the death of the little Siren's mother, but the one he fell in love with was a human. So he went to the Sea Fae, asking for a solution. He had wanted legs, but he hadn't wanted to give up his daughter as the Fae asked. The Fae offered another solution. He could have his legs, but in 20 years he had to return to the sea permanently. Unfortunately, because of how it was worded, the Fae got out of giving the little Siren legs as well. And she couldn't reveal herself to anyone not her or her father's blood until 20 years had passed or else her, her father, her adoptive mother, and her new brothers would belong to the Fae forever.
But now she could see her father had something in his arms! It was a little baby boy! She rapidly rushed to the surface and at the next high surge of the tide, pulled herself up with her father's help.
“Yvette, this is your brother, Jeremy.”
“Hello baby Jeremy!”
Yvette's voice was an echoing melody, almost entrancing her father and succeeding in entrancing her baby brother.
She happily played with her new brother as she listened to the news her father brought her of the rest of her family.
“Bidwell has an internship at a company called Mann Co. I hope he leaves it eventually. I don't like its new CEO, Saxton Hale. He is reckless and destructive.”
“I don't like him either!”
“Of course you don't. Mann Co is the leading cause of pollution.”
“Oh! That's why the waters are all icky!”
“Yes little guppy, that's why.”
Yvette frowned and shook her head. Her muddy colored hair flopped around, spraying salty water.
“Can we tell him to stop?”
Her Father, Yves, shook his head sadly.
“He has a reputation of killing people that tell him stuff he doesn't like.”
“BUT BIDWELL'S THERE!”
Yves shushed his daughter, and looked worriedly around to see if anyone heard her.
“He's just an intern. Saxton Hale will never meet him.”
Eventually, it was time to say goodbye. Yvette happily singing her baby brother a lullaby farewell.
“I love you little brother,
I'll hold you in my heart.
Never will you drown,
As long as I am near.
Sleep my baby brother,
And deep within your dreams,
Dream of me, my brother,
And of a home in the sea.”
Watching Yves leave, the young Siren sank beneath the waves. Waiting for the next time her father can bring Jeremy to visit.
