Nami woke to the gentle rise and fall of Robin's chest as she slept soundly on top of her. The events of the previous day flooded back into her mind—the intense battle, Robin's selfless act to protect her, and the hours spent caring for her injuries.
Carefully, so as not to disturb Robin's slumber, Nami reached up and softly ruffled her hair. Robin stirred slightly but didn't wake.
"You always have to be the one to take care of me, don't you?" She whispered, a fond smile gracing her lips as she brushed a strand of hair from Robin's face.
Robin remained peacefully asleep, her breathing steady and calm. Nami couldn't help but admire her, even in this vulnerable state. She loved the way the archeologist looked when she was at peace, her features softened and her defenses down.
Gently, Nami shifted beneath Robin, adjusting their positions so that she could hold her more comfortably. She wrapped her arms around Robin, pulling her closer, reveling in the warmth of their shared embrace.
As the first light of dawn began to filter through the window, Nami felt a surge of gratitude for the woman lying in her arms. Before her thoughts could drift any further, Nami's eyes caught sight of the delicate necklace with the compass pendant hanging around her neck. She gently touched it, feeling the smooth metal beneath her fingertips, and a fond smile graced her lips as she remembered the moment Robin gave it to her.
Nami was leaning against the railing, watching the sun dip below the horizon with a contented sigh. Robin approached her from behind, a small package in her hand.
"Nami, darling, I have something for you" Robin said, her voice gentle as she held out the package.
Nami turned to face her girlfriend, a curious expression on her face. "What's this?" she asked, taking the package from Robin's hand.
"Open it and see" Robin replied with a smile.
Nami eagerly tore open the package to reveal a delicate necklace with a small compass pendant hanging from it. Her brown eyes widened in surprise as she held it up, admiring its craftsmanship.
The more Nami looked at it, the more lumps formed in her throat as she looked at the necklace, touched by Robin's gesture. She slipped it around her neck, feeling the weight of the pendant against her chest.
Robin watched with bated breath as Nami examined the delicate necklace. She hoped her gesture had conveyed her feelings adequately, but she couldn't shake the nervous flutter in her stomach.
"I thought it would be a fitting gift for the navigator of the Straw Hats" Robin said, her eyes soft as she looked at Nami. "No matter where we go, you always find the way."
Nami's eyes sparkled with delight as she held up the necklace. "It's beautiful" she said, her voice filled with wonder.
Robin couldn't help but smile at Nami's reaction. "I'm glad you like it" she replied, relieved that her gift had been well-received. "Just consider it as my way of saying that you'll always be my true north, sunshine" she added, almost a mere whisper.
Nami felt her heart swell with love as she pulled her dear archeologist into a tight embrace, holding her close as they watched the stars twinkle overhead. In that moment, surrounded by the vastness of the ocean, Nami knew that as long as she had Robin by her side, she would never be lost.
Nami turned to her lover, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I never knew you were such a romantic" she teased, a playful smirk tugging at her lips.
Robin chuckled, feeling her cheeks warm with embarrassment. "I suppose I have my moments" she admitted, unable to suppress a smile.
"Thank you, babe" Nami said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll treasure it always."
With a soft sigh, Nami pressed a kiss to the top of Robin's head, her heart overflowing with love. "You don't really know how much you mean to me, Robin. Thanks for always being there for me" she whispered, her words carrying the weight of all the emotions she couldn't put into words.
Robin stirred at the touch, her eyelids fluttering open to reveal sleepy, half-lidded eyes. She looked up at her navigator, a drowsy smile gracing her lips as she nestled closer, seeking the comfort of Nami's embrace.
"I'm sorry" the black-haired murmured, her voice still heavy with sleep. "I didn't mean to fall asleep on top of you."
Nami chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair away from her girlfriend's face. "It's okay. I don't mind" she reassured her, her heart swelling with affection.
With a contented sigh, Robin snuggled closer to the red-haired, her head resting against her chest as they lay together in the quiet of the cabin. Nami ruffled Robin's hair one last time before settling back against the pillows, content to stay like this, wrapped in each other's warmth, until the rest of the crew needed them.
