Chapter Text
Ghost hunters do exactly what their name says, hunt ghosts. Today it’s Buggy’s first day to hunt ghosts, it is strange because he is notoriously timid. And what he replies is that this is a courage training, and that’s it, no more questions.
It was scary since the company is dark and dreadful all the time. They say they are doing this to keep the ghost in one area because they are like the opposite of a moth, like the darkness. So in the morning the company will be like a ghost house, only blue light is allowed, they said it’s a soft light, and in the night there will be a circle of blue light surrounding the company to keep the ghost inside.
There are different levels of ghost too, the strong ghost could eat the small ones. And they will get more powerful and powerful, until one day they could be strong enough to become semi-solid, ones that can be untouchable and touchable by just a thought. So the company will try their best to not let that happen, additionally each ghost stays in one “cage” that keeps them in there.
Just like that Buggy started his first day. He wishes he won’t have any situation like met ghosts that are powerful enough to kill him, or let him lose everything immediately. At this time a notification rang through his phone, he checked it and it was a message from the people asking for help. “Scary red hair blood Mary appears when I stand in front of a mirror and say “Bloody Mary” three times.” Without hesitation Buggy selected to apply this quest, because here every work opportunity depends on how fast you click to apply the quest. Anyway if the ghosts are too strong he gets rewarded too as long as he works.
Even though nothing bad happened when he failed, he is still a little scared. Blood Mary, is that rumor real? However, he’s here now, and the house owner says: “Wo, that ghost is serious?”
Buggy asks: “What do you mean seriously?”
Owner: “When I saw the blood Mary, I got freak out but the ghost is just asking me have I see a blue hair person or not, he say the prophet tell him there will be a blue hair will come today at here.”
Buggy held a lock of his hair in front of him for a look, needless to say it’s blue: “Is that so? Ha ha… It must be a coincidence. Wait here for a few minutes and I will get the ghost out of here.”
No matter how confident he speaks, he is still very scared. It’s his first day he probably won’t die right? He comforted himself, if he had known earlier that he would not accept the job. Now it’s too late, he is inside the house and there is no way he can run away.
Anyway, it just finds the ghost and takes it down, it’s really easy, but as he goes deeper inside the house, the more scary it is. When he hasn't reacted yet, a red ghost fire suddenly shows up in front of him out of nowhere.
“Ahh!” The cowardly ghost hunter immediately takes out the cage and screams at the same time. But the cage got destroyed by just one single hit from the red hair ghost. Not many ghosts can destroy the cage, so this must be a strong one. Damn it, the first day the first ghost he met was the most difficult ghost to deal with, Buggy cursed himself should never pick this job.
When the death he stands to wait for is not coming, Buggy slowly opens his eyes, and sees the clear face of the red ghost.
“Buggy? You okay?”
“Ah! How did you know…” Suddenly Buggy realized something, “What? Is that you Shanks?”
*Flashback~
When Buggy was little, he had a friend/brother. In childhood they shapes Buggys memories, and creative the Buggy now. Buggy can vaguely recall his appearance sometimes, and it’s sad because one day at a time Buggy didn’t know anything, he heard that Shank got into the hospital by a car accident. Later on he saw the heartline of Shanks is slowly getting into a line…
However that’s long time ago, and the pain is already healed. Buggy didn’t really know how the ghosts form, this time he can ask clearly: “How… How are you here? I mean, how did you become this Shanks?”
Shanks, who was braving the will-o'-the-wisp, said: “Oh, you want to know? Okay :D So, when I die, “He sat down on a chair. “I saw the judges in heaven, they said my lifetime still has a lot. And I have to spend my lifetime as a ghost, additionally I have been looking for you all the time! The world is too big and I can’t use any transportation like cars or trains! Even though I can just eat brunch of weaker ghosts to do that, I want to be a good guy.”
Now Buggy understands, clever him came up with an idea. He said: “Hey Shanks, how about we make a deal?”
Shanks steps closer to Buggy: “What was Buggy?”
“If you stay with me, you can help me to eat up all the strong ghosts, and you help me catch the weak ghost, then I will give you my permission to stay with me.” Although Shanks didn’t know he needed permission to stay with his best friend, he nodded because it sounds good but killed other ghosts, which is his kind. Whatever, staying with Buggy is more important. Shanks hasn't told Buggy the true reason for him being a ghost. There are two reasons for somebody becoming a ghost, one is the punishment by heaven, since you did so evil in the past, the second one is the strong obsession that makes heaven think you should go back to the earth to finish this obsession for the rest of your lifetime. Shanks was the second one, and his obsession of course is… live happily ever after with Buggy. And he doesn’t want Buggy to know that now, because he might get scared and run away, at least that’s what Shanks thinks.
“Sure.” Shanks said.
