Work Header

Every single star

Summary:

Unsuur likes counting. He’s great at counting.
Delilah has a lot of freckles.

Notes:

This exists within the canon of my Little Habits series, but outside of the currently written story because I need to fix that first. I give you all future-sight.

Idk, I miss these two, and I have been having a hard time rearranging and rewriting their story BUT I couldn’t get this scene out of my head. Please enjoy this snippet of the future, when they’ve already been together for a bit, and can’t keep their hands off each other. I know this is like the tiniest bite-sized bit of writing but I promise I haven’t forgotten about these two <3

Maybe I’ll keep writing what happens during the rest of that night and post it here later as a treat ;)

Work Text:

Unsuur traced the edge of Delilah’s jawline with the tip of his nose as he held her close, one hand resting on the small of her back while the other played with a loose strand of her cobalt-blue hair. She shivered under his touch and saw the hint of a smile tug at the corner of his lips. She sighed as she weaved a hand through his black hair, softly mussing it before her fingers closed around it and gave a small tug. Now it was his turn to shiver under her touch, and hers to smile as she heard him hold his breath for a moment.

This had been a mark of their relationship for a long while now, the balanced give-and-take, a soft tug-of-war of devotion and pleasure. Delilah closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the Sandrock sun caress her skin and let her head hang back a spell, the weight of it settling on the strong hand that rose up to meet it. She felt his hot breath against her neck and the softness of his lips as he peppered kisses along her jawline, before making his way to her cheekbone, along the bridge of her nose and circling his way back to the edge of her lips.

When the kiss she craved most didn’t come and she felt him move past her lips and back to her neck, Delilah groaned softly, well aware that a smile still played along her lips.
“What are you doing, love?” She hummed, softly biting her lower lip and waiting for Unsuur’s attention to meet her eyes. When he finally did, she felt her breath catch at the way his slate-grey eyes settled on hers. His eyes darkened as he took in the sight of her before him, and a wolfish smile graced his features. Delilah had only discovered the well-kept secret that was this particular smile a few months into their relationship, and few sights could make her weak at the knees the way that smile did. So distracted was she that she failed to notice as he slowly walked her close to the house, softly guiding her steps backward until she felt the wall of her house at her back.

Unsuur brought his hands against the wall on either side of her head then, and Delilah’s breath stilled. He glanced down to meet her aquamarine eyes, arching an eyebrow in mischief.
“Counting,” came his reply matter-of-factly, as he kissed the tip of her nose.

“I- counting?” Her hands rested on his chest now, tracing the lines of his uniform as her breathing deepened and her brain tried to puzzle out his response.

“Counting, Gem.” He reiterated with a soft smile.

There was an unmistakable warmth in his voice when he called her that, and Delilah’s heart still fluttered at his nickname for her, after all this time. Before she remembered herself and asked for further clarification, Unsuur returned to kissing her cheek, making his way across the freckled bridge of her nose to the other side, and down her jaw again. Oh

He chuckled softly once he realized she’d caught on and paused briefly, just as he had reached the edge of her collarbone. He tilted his head, slowly looking up to meet her eyes. Delilah rested her arms on his shoulders now, lightly wrapping her hands behind his neck, and nearly lost herself in the dark storm of his eyes.

Unsuur brought the tip of his nose against hers once more and whispered “Thirty-three,” as pressed a soft kiss on her lips, once. Twice. Then his hand fell to her waist, softly caressing the exposed skin of her abdomen as he gently lifted her tank top. He felt her breathing deepen under his touch and couldn’t help but smile at the way she always responded to him. “Of course,” he whispered against the shell of her ear, while tracing idle circles on her waist with his calloused thumb, “that’s just the freckles on your face. And I know for a fact,” he kissed her neck, “that you have more,” kissed her collarbone, “hiding elsewhere” he kissed the lovely crook of her neck, ever so gently biting at that spot he knew she loved. A soft moan escaped her at the sweet combination of soft pain and pleasure, and a deeply satisfied smile settled on his features.

He let his thumb slide over her waist until it met the edge of her pants, where he drove it between the fabric and her warming skin. He stilled his touch long enough to meet her eyes, a silent question reflecting on his own. Is this okay? And she smiled at him in response, leaning closer to kiss him deeply.
He wasn’t sure which of them hummed into the kiss, maybe both, as their breath quickened and desire flooded their veins. He broke the kiss first, only long enough to breathlessly whisper a request against her ear. “Let me count every single one of your freckles tonight. Let me wish on them like stars.”

Breathless. Delilah was breathless as he gently cupped her face and brushed his thumb against her lips. She held his gaze as she parted them slightly, inclining her head and taking his thumb in her mouth, gently teasing with the tip of her tongue and delighting in his shiver. The storm of his slate eyes was suddenly alight with desire as he lifted her off her feet while her bright laugh fluttered around them. She wrapped her legs around him to keep steady and peppered kisses along his jaw, his neck, his ear, as he carried her into the house and towards the bed where he intended to spend a very, very long time tonight counting every single freckle on her body at least three times over.
