dream girl, crisaunt

sun was famous.

that much was already obvious in the way that she was always surrounded by people wherever she went. aylin once explained to her in simple terms how the sun was the reason why planets never strayed away from their orbits. the sun ’s gravitational force was so strong; that there would have been chaos in its absence.

must be why my thoughts are all over the place

ongsa glanced over at the corner of the room where sun was gleefully entertaining inquiries from strangers and classmates alike. she couldn’t resent her for it; there was no reason to, really. when she returned from the united states, there was an evident shift in her demeanor. nothing too severe, but enough for ongsa to notice how she was a lot more outgoing; more open to people striking up conversations with ongsa, even, which hadn’t been quite the case only a few years prior.

it wouldn’t make sense to feel upset about it, right? surely, a more relaxed sun was a good thing than the other way around. why should she be upset when sun had been nothing but great to her ever since they entered college; always ready to help and reassure her when she needed it? sun didn’t even leave her at the party, per se. she’d asked ongsa beforehand if it was okay to go around and meet new friends — to which she obviously, quite readily, said yes.

and yet she couldn’t help but feel a heaviness in her chest, one that she physically had to cradle with an empty hand while the other carried her untouched drink. this college party was proving to be the opposite of fun , as alpha had tried to convince her a few hours ago.

a moment of silence passed over her head before a familiar presence eventually graced ongsa’s side.

with a deep breath, she glanced up and met sun’s asking gaze, forcing a tightlipped smile on her lips. “how did it go?”

“nothing life-changing,” sun replied, chuckling softly to herself as she sidled up to ongsa even more, practically pressing herself tight against her girlfriend. “all they did was ask about america. wish you’d been there to give them nonsense answers.” sun scrunched up her nose and wrapped an arm over ongsa’s stomach. “would have made things more entertaining.”

“i’m sure you’ll find a better crowd.”

sun shrugged. “ you’re the better crowd.”

ongsa flushed despite herself. “you’ve gotten good with your words.”

“what do you mean?” sun grinned. “i’ve always been good with my words.”

ongsa playfully rolled her eyes before reaching up to adjust her eyeglasses. “you’re good at yapping .”

sun gasped. “how dare you?”

“remember when—”

a series of sharp clinking interrupted whatever ongsa was about to say, effectively pulling their attention to the source of the sound.

“SPIN THE BOTTLE, ANYONE?”

sun perked up and turned to ongsa with a glint of excitement in her eyes, teeth lightly biting on her lower lip before saying, “let’s join!”

“what—” ongsa began to shake her head. “i don’t know how to play that game, sun—”

“you spin the bottle and you kiss whoever it lands on.”

ongsa blinked. “you, what?”

“come on,” sun insisted, grabbing ongsa by the hand as she began to pull her toward the center of the room, only looking back once to say: “i’ll make sure mine lands on yours.”

aylin once warned her about the stupid games that humans play in college, mumbling about bottles spinning and millions of bacteria being exchanged, and lack of hygiene, among other things. granted, she hadn’t been listening to her because talking to sun over the phone had mattered more than anything at that point.

part of her wished she had paid attention instead.

soon enough, she found herself sitting in a relatively big circle in the living room with sun practically sitting on her lap. sun had made a rather public announcement about how she would play but would only do the dare if the bottle pointed at ongsa. there was a collective groan, but sun (and ongsa) gladly ignored it and sat down to get comfortable.

it must have taken a couple of rounds of people spinning the bottle and jumping on whoever they got before it was finally her turn. breathing out shakily through parted lips, she reached for the bottle, swallowing tightly as she looked over at sun, as if asking her if this was really okay.

sun simply smiled and prompted her to go on.

here goes nothing .

she spun the bottle — perhaps a little too hard as it bounced off the floor and hit sun on the shin with a quiet thud.

sun hissed upon contact while ongsa gasped, quickly reaching out to cover the spot where sun had been hit. “are you okay?”

but sun only laughed as she looked at ongsa was much adoration in those beautiful, brown eyes. “i’m okay, baby.”

ongsa ignored the endearment and swallowed the flustered sound that threatened to spill from her mouth. “did… did that count?”

“did it?” sun turned to the crowd, lips tugging downward in a cheeky not-smile, before turning back to ongsa without waiting for an answer. “pretty sure it did.”

people around them began to chant kiss kiss kiss! at that point, ongsa was sure she’d turned into a human tomato, if the heat in her neck and ears was anything to go by, and when sun straddler her lap before she could even think, ongsa could only do but gape at her, hands paused in mid-air.

dainty arms curled around her neck as the air began to feel heavy around her, making it harder to breathe — in a very good way . her breathing slowed down, gaze locked on sun’s lips which were at eye level by then, and they were moving.

sun was saying something, but hadn’t quite heard what she said.

“what?” she asked, blinking out of her trance and meeting sun’s gaze this time. “sorry, what?”

the lopsided smile on sun’s face was indicative of her knowing what state ongsa had been in just then. however, rather than teasing ongsa, she moved and pressed her forehead against hers, gently brushing the tip of her nose against ongsa’s before speaking very quietly:

“if you’re uncomfortable, we can leave,” she muttered. “either way, i’ll get my kiss.”

ongsa blinked languidly, warmth spreading further down her body, and if it hadn’t been for sun’s comforting weight on her, she would have up and run away out of embarrassment.

“so, which one is it?”

ongsa could still vaguely hear the crowd around them, though whether or not they were still interested in the show they were unintentionally putting on, she wasn’t sure anymore. what she’s certain about was the fact that, against her better judgment, ongsa wanted that kiss right there and then.

despite knowing that eyes were watching them, maybe even phones ready to capture a photo or a video, ongsa simply didn’t care.

she nodded slowly, signaling to sun that she was completely fine with it, and with a familiarity of a lover who had the pleasure of kissing those lips before this moment, ongsa leaned in and took what was hers and hers alone.

sun’s lips were gentle and light against her own. so much so that it reminded her of the very first time she had a taste of her — seated under the stars where nothing else could be heard but the thundering drum of her heart in her ears.

her hands moved to cup either side of sun’s neck, thumbs brushing gingerly against her cheeks as they kissed slowly, unbothered by the teasing around them. this kiss was slower, lazier — with more playful nibbling and teasing flicks of the tongue against swollen lips — as if sun was eager to make it known to ongsa that tomorrow would bring only a new day for sun to give her more kisses, to touch her whenever and wherever she wanted to without the fear of leaving so soon.

sun was here to stay, and with this elated realization, sun’s arms tightened around her neck, wanting to lean closer and tighter into ongsa; clearly forgetting their current position and nearly tipping the both of them over if not for ongsa’s quick reflexes saving them from further embarrassment.

the crowd aww ’d in disappointment at the premature end of the show, but like most young adults with better things to do than wait for a couple of girls to get their shit together, they inevitably move on to the next player.

ongsa and sun stayed in their place, however; breathing heavily in each other’s space, still not ready to break away from each other.

“well…” ongsa panted. “that happened.”

sun hummed, reaching up to wipe at the corner of her lips. “it did.”

ongsa swallowed tightly, watching sun’s kiss-swollen lips for another stretch of a second. “we should probably go back to the dorm.”

sun eyed her, smiling gently, but knowingly. “we should.”

ongsa secured her arms around sun’s smaller figure and stood with ease, ignoring sun’s indignant yelp. never missing leg day for well over a year certainly had its perks, and ongsa marched out of the house with one goal in mind:

kiss sun ‘til the break of dawn.
